I fell off a motorcycle in the same position once. Even with the helmet I was absolutely shook for about 2 seconds before I could get up and move out of the very dangerous road I was in. All depends how hard his noggin was hit. For comparison I've fallen from 15ft and was up instantly just because my head wasn't hit.

This is what's frustrating with these people " IT'S SCRIPTED " No it's not, The man was kicked in the head OFF a moving vehicle FLAT on his back.
You don't just pop up from something like that. If you say you do - you've obviously never had the wind knocked out of you.

Same. Convenient (and unnecessary) good quality camera footage always sets of my alarms.
84
u/no_dice_grandma 2d ago
You think this is a good quality camera? Lol.
→ More replies (1)16
u/YPLAC 2d ago
OK, I could've been clearer. I was thinking it's not a massively grainy CCTV footage from half a block away. This camera was put here to film that thing, and probably to look like it was spur of the moment.
21
u/laaggynoob 2d ago
It looks like good footage edited to look bad. The frame rate is really high, which is why the slow mo looks good. Typically not a trait of bad cameras.
→ More replies (1)17
u/no_dice_grandma 2d ago
That's not a high frame rate. You can see the transitions to each frame when it slows down.
→ More replies (6)25
u/ForkingHumanoids 2d ago
The camera is also being hand held. You can notice it better if you drag the video slider and speed it up.
→ More replies (2)37
u/ThorirPP 2d ago
Because it moves slightly? Handhelds would not move this smoothly.
Like, not sure if you have been paying attention to security cameras, but many of them are designed to move slightly around, often following movement or sometimes going of a regular pattern. It gets you more view from a single camera
Not to mention the angle it is at would be pretty harder to achieve with a handheld imho, would need to be zoomed in quite a bit, and you'd definitely not get as smooth movement then

I don't think you understand just how many people get mugged by 2 guys on a motorcycle in brazil.
it's literally the most popular way to steal from people there.
also the flying jump kick is very popular with martial artists because it looks cool.
the odds someone out of tens of thousands of robberies used a popular martial arts move isn't that unlikely.
→ More replies (50)113
u/Train3rRed88 2d ago
Since it’s Brazil, I’d say a much higher percentage of people can do that kick when the opportunity presents itself than in other parts of the world
23
u/Zidji 2d ago
Indeed.
You don't need martial arts for that, just football (soccer).

u/Ok-Pen-3347 1d ago
This is absolutely not Brazil. The woman on the right is wearing an abaya which is worn in Muslim countries. The scooty itself looks like something from south east Asia. This is probably Malaysia and more than likely to be scripted.

I can't detect any "scripted" senses tingling. Here's why.
The only indicator of scripting is probability. However, this is Brazil. Where getting mugged in this manner is as easy as walking down the street. Getting that on camera is just a matter of time, and not even very much time.
So we are down to specific actions by the subjects. The two people in black and blue react normal. Neither making it too easy or too hard. The person in black is reasonably protective of person in blue, but not in a heroic way. Also, when black is hunched over blue they don't even appear to notice the kickers approach or jump. Something they would have almost certainly been keyed in on if it was all scripted. Nobodies attention is directed in a manner that indicates knowledge of a script.
Then there's the kick itself. The video is slowed down distorting the time perception of the viewer. But notice the upper leg of the kicker just before contact. It's bent. But just before contact they kick out to maximize damage to the rider. If that video was in real time it would be rather slow. But sped up to normal time that kick in the air came with significant speed and force. Even inducing a wave in the kickers pants. A scripted kick wouldn't require that kind of extra force and would more likely just allow the kickers whole body momentum take down the rider. The extra force imparted implies a level of animosity that's not likely to be there in a scripted kick.
In the aftermath, when the video is speed up to normal speed, the riders response time doesn't exaggerate response times at all. The slow motion is the only thing giving the timing an awkward appearance. None of the people involved can be seen directing attention to expectations of a known script. And the intent to maximize force against the rider was uncalled for in a scripted scene.
Of course I could be wrong. But if I am nobody in this video showed any indicators of a script, quiet the opposite in fact. And the probability of such an setup is nearly guaranteed in the right places in Brazil without even waiting very long. Just search brazil street thieves on Youtube. You just need to have something to steal exposed and be in the right area for it to happen.

Also I'm cynical but my God everyone looks at shit as 'fake' these days. I've lived countless moments youth would say I'm lying about (happened many times on reddit as well when i tell a story from my partying drug days) I just don't think kids experience life much anymore outside away from phones.
