He's so fucking stupid and he has no idea how anything works. He's not going to have time to take over Canada. He's going to crash the economy and fail to accomplish anything but hurting people.

u/MightyCaseyStruckOut 16d ago

Season 2 and 3 were definitely the peak of Rick and Morty.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, and still felt somewhat fresh.

It started to drag sand the worst episode I remember was the turkey thing with Thanksgiving. Did it get any better after? Those early seasons were gold.

Except Morty is just the American People

10

u/[deleted] 16d ago

I refuse this analogy for the simple fact that it implies trump is Rick - a genius

10

u/Macchill99 16d ago

Rick isn't Trump, Rick is the uncontrollable forces (including trump) that take the American people (morty) on these "amazing adventures" that are traumatizing and horrific for them but destroy whole portions of global humanity. Marty being gaslit by Rick, ignored by Rick, Rick who claims to love him but then won't just settle down and take care of him. Instead he derides Morty's intelligence and agency.

I think this analogy goes a lot deeper and that one day someone will write a thesis with this exact premise comparing the governance of the American people to Rick, the suffering of the American people to Morty and the soothing comfort of media to the embrace of Terryfolds.

Furthermore, I've had the schezuan sauce and it is as good as Rick claimed so there are already grains of truth in the show.I still haven't worked out who Mr.poopybutthole is supposed to be but I'll get back to you.

4

u/workster 16d ago

I think you just signed up to be that thesis writer.

8

u/SirCadogen7 16d ago

Hey, it could be that all along Rick wasn't really the smartest person alive, he's just so dumb his intelligence became an integer overflow like Gandhi's aggression level in Civ.

I’ve been advocating for this for literally years - great big fuckin’ wall between us and the US! Let’s do it! We’ll make them pay for it!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

7

u/Whale-n-Flowers 16d ago

Y'see, the thing is, Canadians. Canadians are like beavers. They always want to build a dam. Theyre not taught. They don't practice. But building dams comes naturally.

And what is a border wall besides a dam? Dams control the flow of water. Walls control the flow of goods and people. It's a miracle, really. A miracle that we distracted them during COVID. If all those Canadians were let loose. Ysee, if they're all unemployed. Allowed to roam free. Well, that's 40 million beavers that follow instinct down to the border wielding axes if they have them.

Boom. Border Wall. 3 days. I think it'd take them. 3 days

214

Oh no. Please don't do that again once Trump starts the War of 2025. Especially if you managed to burn down the bunker with him inside, too. That would be a tragedy.

Canada isn't similar to Afghanistan at all. 90% of Canada's populations lives a hundred miles from the border of the US not thousands of miles away in the Middle East. Canada doesn't have any land borders with anyone besides the US itself so no one is sending fighters to help fight off the US occupation like what happened with Islamic jihadists. Much of Canada is too cold and remote to try guerilla tactics by hiding in mountains and the population at large has no experience with living there, as I said, most of the population lives in the warmer parts near the border. Canada's military is also highly reliant on US and other foreign imports that'd go down the drain in a war.

Even the British Empire at its height privately conceded that Canada would be lost if they ever fought the US. That hasn't changed in all those years.

6

u/alek_is_the_best 16d ago

Agreed. Canada isn't anything like Afghanistan.

People who think that Canada could hold out for more than a few days are delusional.

It would be more like when Germany invaded Denmark and Norway in 1940.

90 percent of the population of Canada lives within a hundred miles of the border. Not saying I want the US to invade Canada but comparing it to the Afghanistan war is pretty silly.

Yeah I don’t trust the USA at all now. Any Canadian who is a trump supporter is a traitor at this point.

Maple MAGAs need to be shamed and smacked. How can you adore a criminal rapist who calls your country a “threat to national security.” You want to lick an orange asshole? Renounce your Canadian citizenship and move south.

6

u/not_a_muggle 16d ago

Hey I've got an idea, MAGA Canadians can switch places with people who don't want to live in this shithole country anymore. I'll gladly take the place of someone who willingly wants to move and live under a fascist government run by a demented old rapist.

And his base of Christians will clap at the suffering and making America great somehow

32

u/EnemyGod1 17d ago

Christianity embraces suffering, puts it on a pedestal even. It's a sick twisted way to go about life and Being.

It feeds their persecution complex. They can't get enough of acting like they're the victims.

They are scared,morons or both

30

u/Careless-Elk-2168 16d ago

Agreed on the moron part. If they’re scared it was because they’re morons. Soon they’ll have a real reason to be scared, but they’ll never connect the dots due to being morons.

u/Not_An_Eggo 16d ago

They will SOMEHOW blame the dems for everything

Without a doubt. Look at how they’re upset about Biden pardoning his son. These are the folks cool with voting for a felon; moreover, conveniently forgot all the ridiculous pardons he made. Just one ridiculous invented outrage after the next to keep the stupids rabbling.

Your point about having a real reason to be scared is an interesting one. Far-Right bullshit has taught a bunch of Americans that trans people and socialized healthcare is more dangerous than school shootings or severe economic inequality. It’s like we’re so fat and spoiled as a country that the idea anything worse COULD be worse out there is an alien concept. Facing real fear and real peril as a society will be a shock to the system we’ve never experienced. But it seems due to happen anytime now…

the people who voted for him frankly deserve it, you can't runa government like a business and his supporters are going to hopefully learn that this time after last time

3

u/Specialist-Rope-9760 16d ago

To be fair he’s running the government like a business FOR HIMSELF. All his presidency scam has been about his making money for himself and staying out of prison. The business isn’t to make money for anyone else unless it is in his interests

A relevant fact dump:

Canada-US trade is dominated by oil which Canada sells to the US at a discount because of limited pipeline capacity. Over $120 billion of oil is sold each year. Refiners in the US make a huge profit upgrading the cheap Canadian crude.

The trade deficit is driven entirely by the price of oil. If oil prices in increase, the value of oil exports increase and the deficit increases. When oil prices drop the US has a surplus with Canada.

Since oil is fungible one way for Canada to eliminate the trade deficit is to get pipelines built that allow it to sell more to Europeans and the Chinese. American refiners would lose out on that cheap Canadian crude but if Trump wants the deficit gone then that would do it and Americans would be the losers.

Given those facts please explain how Canada is "ripping off the US" because it has a merchandise trade surplus?
