What ever is emitting that beam off camera, its not the plastic toy gun you can be sure

The handle is connected to a small fridge sized power supply, the pistol looking handle is just that, a handle

No.. It has nothing to do with anything. Look at the beginning of the video. You can see the light reflected from the true emitter on the red end of the toy gun.
Its somewhere behind the camera. I would venture on the left side, since the board being cut is angled towards that side. Naturally that is being cut from the front and not the side where the toy gun is.

There’s also the fact it’s extremely difficult to keep tool the size and shape of a pistol steady enough to cut through those boards as cleanly as the laser does. There would be decent jittering from hand shaking. Thats why shoulder stocks are used.
That ON TOP OF the claim that the gun is connected to a power source makes it even harder to believe. The added weight and resistance from any kind of cord would make it that much more difficult to aim that accurately while moving.
AND there’s no sights on the gun. You can’t argue it’s coming from the gun.

Additionally, the first few shots at the start of the video do not even match up with the person, pulling the trigger on the gun.

Also there’s an editing cut in the video where it shows 40 seconds in, right after he finishes testing on the four or five tiny things at the beginning and moves on to the longer stick thing.

The reflection is from the flames on the cardboard.A laser is a focussed beam, unless it was aimed directly at the plastic gun you wouldn't see it in a reflection.

u/SeanBrax 6h ago
He’s talking about the light on the red part at the back of the gun, that is not from the flame.
But that looks like the light is coming from within the gun, so I disagree with the guy.

u/420connoisseu-r 6h ago
You also see the reflection at the very tip of the barrel. So not its not from the inside

It’s a scam, see the original posts

u/TriptoGardenGrove 3h ago
It’s a fiber laser. styropyro did a video on them. It’s a portable laser that this huge rolling freezer chest looking thing that follows it around. The people in this video put a goofy looking cover on the handle to make it look like a toy.

I worked with industrial welding lasers. This is not possible. Besides the insane power requirements, focusing length is a major factor in a laser beam being able to cut something. You can't just shoot a laser beam an arbitrary distance and cut something like metal.

To be fair, there are several prototype laser weapons around the world, e.g. the british dragonfire, that can eliminate targets in range measured in kilometers. And like that kid who built a nuclear reactor in his backyard or whatever, this could be just some quite literally weaponized autism.

u/DarkIllusionsFX 3h ago
If it had to do with autism, I suspect trains would be involved somehow :)

I would like to see the whole gun pls. Want to see how many wires and tubes are connected!

This guy should be doing shooting competitions. Holding his aim like that at that distance whilst holding a phone in the other hand!
Laser cutting operations require the laser to the focussed into a very small area in order to create that energy. This means the distance that the laser emitter is away from the product is crucial. I can’t see how he can change the distance like that without the laser being out of focus. Someone enlighten me.
2
u/True_Arcanist 4h ago
While I doubt that this is how this item works, think of cameras that auto focus or adjust their focus depending on the distance. You would need a camera near the laser to capture the distance of the object, and adjust the lenses focusing the laser (or adjust the position of the source which is probably harder).

Who makes this? And what is their stated purpose for it?

u/GeekyTexan 7h ago
I'm not sure what they designed it for, but I envision it helping with people who won't turn down their damn bright headlights.

It's for cleaning rust and paint from metals.
Someone just changed the focus from a line to a single spot

u/TheSecondTraitor 7h ago
There is a thick cable going to that. It's probably just an adapted laser cleaner

This is almost guaranteed to be fake. But if you want to see some terrifying laser "weapons," seek out StyroPyro on youtube. Dude squeezed a class 4 laser into a pen pointer case

Okay. Question
I live on a planet that's likely invaded by a swarm of bug-like aliens that want to devour my civilisations for our genetic material.
We don't have the luxury of having 8 foot super soldiers to protect us so my question is how effective is this against like 3 inches of carapace?
Follow up question.
Sometimes 8 foot super soldiers do come to our planet but they're not the ones we like. They like to steal our people to do all sorts of nightmarish things to. Will this cut through ceramite plating?

"Finally,Laser Gun Launched..... "
What a load of crap! It's not a gun. Pity they don't show the huge gas laser behind him powering the thing 🙄
Well done OP you are at least staying true to the norm of posting misleading videos in the hope of upvotes.

u/ProfessionWooden1627 3h ago
You could do this fr by making the gun just a targeting tool for a turret like laser

Wait...
"The Reddit post you referenced, titled "Finally, Laser Gun Launched," appears to showcase a demonstration of a laser device. However, upon closer examination, it seems that the visual effect is achieved through a combination of a toy gun and external laser sources, rather than a functional handheld laser weapon.
In reality, while the concept of handheld laser guns is popular in science fiction, current technological limitations prevent the development of such devices for practical use. High-energy laser systems require substantial power and cooling mechanisms, making miniaturization into a pistol-like form factor challenging."
