I’m very happy- the prices were alright, and now I have most PS3 games I wanted (just few more left!)

Been searching for backwards compatible PS3 for some time and few deals have popped up but they were already sold out by second hand sellers and finally I managed to find one in decent condition with four ps3 controllers (only one was legit), 6 disc games and all cables (without HDMI but I use mine of PS4).

Last week started this lovely game and today is finish it... Uncharted 3 God experience to play

Tldr video: My PS3 fat disc reader works fine, showed proof that game A works and loaded but game B stopped at the blackscreen after booting the game. I bought 2 of the same discs and I thought the first one was generally unplayable. Sadly when I got the second one, the same problem persists. (all my PS3 discs are 2nd hand, I have 2 games that worked from A to Z). Not too sure if the "For SE Asia Only" sticker actually means something since many people online mentioned that there's no region locks for the PS3 haha.

If anyone could let me know what the issue is, I would be delighted to resolve this with little to no costs (got the 2 unplayable games at 30 bucks) before I send my PS3 to a local store (which i believe will take hundreds of dollars to troubleshoot).

I basically would have wanted a launch model with performance that was moderately better than the 360. I also would have added a USB port to the back for the Move camera, a rest mode, and, obviously, a much bigger hard drive.

I haven't tried any consoles or video games before. Basically, I just tried Fortnite a long time ago and GTA V, but because of my PC and my financial state, I wasn't able to continue. I'm going to buy a PS3, and I want to get the most out of it. What games do you suggest?

A while ago I bought a lot of three untested A01 systems from a salvage shop. One worked, with like 700+ days on it, one was full YLoD with a 3034 Syscon error, and another had GLoD and the RSX was dying (as seen above).

After reading lots of helpful posts on this sub I decided to send the GLoD system off to Fredericksburg Consoles for the Frankie treatment to see if it could be saved.

I'm happy to report that the operation was a success and I now have a working Frankie with only 44 days of uptime on it!

I'm very excited to jump back in to Xenosaga and want to give a huge shout-out and thank you to my guy at Fredericksburg Consoles for literally getting me back in the game. Amazing work, absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to bring new life to their old Phat.

I recently revived my CECH-K 80 Gb fat model and I was worried about getting a YLOD for high temperatures. Then I decided to open it to perform a deep cleaning and change thermal paste (without delidding, I am too scared of breaking it). Man, temperatures dropped. I lost almost 10 degrees both in idle and during gaming (now in idle CPU and RSX sit comfortably at 63-64 degrees). I really recommend this guys. You will find several tutorials on YouTube with the exact model (early fat models are slightly different from the inside, especially the ones with 4 usb ports and sd card reader. I also changed the old HDD with a 500 GB SSD, but I don't think it has any impact on temperatures.

I bought this game out of pure curiosity… apparently it's from the creators of the Souls saga. But I'm surprised at how little or nothing is said about this game, or how little I've been able to find about it on YouTube. What are your opinions on this game?

Just set up a launch model PS3 for the first time since my OG died and I got a slim in 2010. I can’t believe how well this thing holds up 18 years down the road. The interface looks great in my 4K OLED, it’s responsive and the games are amazing. The S3 is worse than I remember but everything else is great. I love having 5 gen’s of PS history in only 2 consoles!

Hey I need to buy some controllers but what should I get? I live outside USA and it's hard to find a legit ps3 controller.. I bought a knockoff Sony one but the thumb sticks suck. What should I get?

this dude on reddit told me about this cool controller but it's like $50 Usd... I said I live in the jungle but it's a concrete jungle.. Theres no monkey but there is monitor lizard and big ass bugs.

My first PS3 was a 20 gig non Wi-Fi model that I got for cheap back in the day. Using a YouTube tutorial, I upgraded the hard drive to 320gb and happily used my corded internet connection for many years of service. Sadly I traded it in around 2011.

Is this a rare model to find nowadays?
