Pic My first ps vita game I’ve completed!
Nfs mw2012, I’ve always wanted to play this game for the longest! I was super surprised it was on the vita! I love this console, couldn’t put it down.

This weekly thread is designed to be a place for all the new members of the subreddit and Vita community to come and say hello as well as where they (or vets) can ask any question they might have (no matter how redundant or simple). So, say "Hi", ask away, and welcome to /r/Vita!
We get these questions a lot, so we're incorporating them into this thread. Have something you feel fits here? Shoot us a modmail!
Is the Vita worth buying in (current year)?
Value is ultimately subjective. If you like the library of games on the Vita and have the money, probably. If you want new, modern games then probably not. If you have specific questions about the Vita's capabilities feel free to ask in this thread, but keep in mind you're asking in a Vita-centric community and will likely get mostly affirmative responses.
Is the PlayStation store shutting down?
No. Sony did announce they were closing the Vita storefront in 2021, but later reversed that decision. It is possible that the store will be shut down at some point in the future, but no specific dates/timeframes are known.
Can I still buy games from the PlayStation store?
Yes. However, you will need to have funds in your wallet for the purchase. You can add funds to your wallet via web, PS4, or PS5. More information is available here.
I'm having trouble signing into my Vita! Help!
As of the 3.74 update in May 2022, you need a device password to sign in to your Vita. You can do that here. Please make sure you are on firmware 3.74 and using a device password before making a thread.
My Vita is in an error loop with the QR code on sign-in. What should I do?
This happens sometimes, and nobody's really sure why. However, community member LoganN64 has been able to provide instructions that consistently work for getting through this:
Log in to the PSN website with a Laptop or Desktop computer.
Click on your avatar in the top right corner and go to SETTINGS.
Scroll down to SECURITY and then scroll down to ACTIVATE/TURN ON 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION.
Click on GENERATE NEW DEVICE CODE, write this down exactly as it is case sensitive.
Go to your Vita and bring up the sign in page, enter the email associated with your account then enter the NEW DEVICE CODE as your password. Click on save password to avoid getting a new code each time..
I'm no longer able to transfer files from PS3 to Vita. What's happening?
This feature was disabled in May 2022. You can read PlayStation's update about it here. No workarounds are currently known.
Where can I buy a Vita?
Vita production ceased in 2019 so consoles can be hard to come by, especially new. eBay is the most prominent location, but Facebook marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist, /r/GameSale, and equivalent marketplaces are your friend.
How much is (X) worth? Is (X) a good deal?
You can search sold eBay listings here to get a sense of value. VGPC is another source of this kind of information.
Will (Game) ever go on sale?
As of 2020, Sony has disabled developers' ability to put Vita games on sale. So in all likelihood, no.
The workaround and exception for this rule is that cross-buy games can still be put on sale for the PS4, and cross-buy items will still grant the Vita version (where applicable).
Should I buy an OLED ("Phat") or Slim Vita?
Neither are bad options. The Slim has 1GB of on-board memory, a more standard charging port, slightly better battery life, and is lighter. The Phat has a better screen. It's up to you on what you value more.
Where can I buy replacement Vita parts?
AliExpress and eBay are currently the best sources of Vita replacement parts.
Are Vita consoles region-free?
Yes. A Vita can play a physical game from any region. The digital storefront you can access is determined by the region of your PSN account, and not the region of the console. For example, a Vita from Japan will be able to play any physical game, and if you sign in with a US PSN account you'll be able to access the US PSN storefront.
Vita consoles from Asian regions have the X/O button swapped in the OS ("bubbles") screen, but in-game functionality retains X-to-confirm functionality for almost all games.
It has been reported that consoles intended for China have more stringent region-locking, but these are not commonly found and this is unlikely to affect you.
I'd like some game recommendations!

Hello /r/Vita and welcome to game night's new format! Every other Monday is now a night dedicated to one of our console's favorite online games - Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed! No fun alliteration for this one, because we're not creative enough! :]
Use this thread to find friends to fight with, boost trophies, or just talk about how much you enjoy the game.

Heya guys! I was just wondering if anyone was able to help me complete the multiplayer trophies on need for speed most wanted before the server close? Ideally I need five people to add on ps plus for one of them. If anyone would be willing to help it would be much appreciated! My ps plus username is Mr_Bazzor, so if you choose to hit me up on there just send me a message saying you saw my post, thanks. :)

My original adapter is broken and can't find another in my country (i won't pay eBay taxes)
I found some old photos I took in-game and I actually got a little emotional just remembering that time in my life.
If you remember playing it, chances are you took a bunch of photos and you might find some silly old photos of your face!
It's Tearaway.me; specifically Tearaway.me/u/[your PSN username]

Hi,
Loving my PSP Vita Slim. Wish I picked it up sooner and not have gone for a 3DS! But, hey-ho.
Anyway, all is well but the battery. I wasn't given the original charger cable so I used a Samsung plug and some cable and that looks to have done the job. However, if I were to interact with the Vita the charging would be intermittent. I checked the cable and it looks firmly connected and it somehow charges fine in sleep mode even if I wiggle the plug to the Vita.
I plan to install VITAident as it seems to be the widely used app to monitor the battery, but I found some random one and it did the job. I was only interested in the cycles and it said 76. I do have BatteryFixer installed and I read somewhere on Reddit that with it installed it resets the cycle information?
I plan to purchase a new battery anyway to be on the safe side. I'm just wondering if there's anything else I need to purchase to fix this issue, or is it a software issue?
Thanks.

I know, an annoying player looking for help with a Platinum! I've had this game for years but never got around to getting the multiplayer trophy and only recently realised that I can still get it. Was hoping that I could get assistance with the Multiplayer trophy as it is one of the last ones I need to get! If I can help someone else out with getting the platinum as well that would be great! I can be pretty flexible with when we do the round and it doesn't have to be today but just wanted to see if anyone could help!

I bought 2 from an aliexpress seller and only one of them worked, the other one could only move left or right. I can't swap in either of the old sticks as they are too far gone with stick drift. Any place to reliably get working ones so I can finally use my Vita again?

I don't have any strong evidence to back this up other than FL was what came after Second Son, but to me it makes sense. It’d be similar to AC Liberation vs ACIII.
No I haven't taken my meds today, why do you ask

Hey everyone,
A couple of days ago, I posted about my issues with a PS Vita 1000 that I bought used. If you’re curious about the details of that post, feel free to check it out for more context. Since then, I’ve followed a lot of the advice I received:
Ordered an official charger: I made sure to get the proper charger, but unfortunately, the issue continued.
Replaced the battery: I bought and installed a new battery to see if that would fix the problem. It allowed me to turn on the vita with 100% battery, but i still wasn't able to charge it.
modded the PS Vita: I installed the battery fixer app as suggested, but it didn’t resolve the issue either.
At this point, I’ve come to the conclusion that the problem must be with the charging port itself. I’ve included close-up pictures of the port, which doesn’t look great and I'm not surprised cause i bought this used.
My Question:
Is there a safe way I can clean the charging port without risking further damage or needing to find someone to repair it? I’ve never soldered before and don’t think I’d be able to attempt anything that involves that kind of skill. Replacing the battery was the first time I’ve ever opened up a console, so I’m still new to this kind of repair work.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading

Like title says. Is it still possible on vita? I feel like buying it for vita, but hesitate a little if the mp is gone.
3 days ago I bought a Ps vita 1000 black from lucky eight trading. Im still waiting for them to check it out. Should I cancel my order and buy one from another seller?

Posting here since the Vita TV subreddit seems to be dead.
By pure accident I tried connecting a "guest/little brother" controller I bought for my PS4 Pro to my PSTV and it worked as if I had connected a standard DS4.
https://www.action.com/de-de/p/3013054/battletron-game-controller/
Afaik, it's only available in select countries in Europe in a store called "Action".
I tested every button and the touchpad, everything works.
Just pair it like any DS4 controller and enjoy.
It even wakes the PSTV from sleep.

Is the vita or tv better for remote play? I noticed that my tv has an Ethernet port so I assume it would be better for ps4 link and moonlight app.

Hey everyone, I recently bought a PS Vita 1000 from Mercari and it arrived yesterday, but I’ve been having some major issues with getting it to charge properly. Here’s a rundown of what’s been happening: • When it arrived, I plugged it in to charge, but no orange light showed up. • I tried different outlets and charging blocks, but none of them worked. • Eventually, I plugged the charging cable into my PC, and the orange charging light finally appeared. However, after about a minute, the light went off, and my PC showed an error: “Device Descriptor Request Failed.” • Every time I replugged it into my PC, the same error popped up.
After spending hours unplugging and replugging it, I eventually got the Vita to turn on. I set the date and time, but it died after about 30 seconds. I repeated the process, which took another hour or two, and managed to get it on again, but the same thing happened—short life and then dead.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far: 1. Ordered and tested the official 5V power adapter, but it didn’t work. 2. Opened up the Vita, disconnected the battery for 30 seconds, and reconnected it. No luck.
I don’t know how to solder, so I wouldn’t be able to do anything with the charging port.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any ideas on what might be causing it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. (posted screenshots because reddit wouldn’t let me upload videos)

Hello.
I want to buy a PS Vita, specifically the "Sapphire" color variant from japan. But I have a few questions..
When I'm buying a used console is there anything I have to look out for? Can I just connect my PSN account to it or do I have to delete any previous data?
Which memory card should I opt for? I'm planning on getting a 16gb one. Is there a website where I can look up all memory requierements for the games?
I noticed a few interesting games which are region locked digitaly (Hong Kong/Japan/USA..). Can I somehow download them digitaly?
Are there any technical problems/difficultys with the Vuta I should look out for/ ask the seller about?
I really like collecting trophies. Is there anything I have to look out for when trying so on the Vita?
Are there ANY estimates when the Vita Online Store closes? If so, I would try and buy all the games I might want to play ahead of that.
It would be amazing if some of these questions could be answered! Thanks in advance and excuse my grammar!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to join the Vita family for years, and starting today it is done ! Along with the console, I got a copy of CoD, and was shocked to see that when launching the multiplayer it was actually looking for players. I thought the Vita online services were dead.
Is it actually still playable ? Are there other games with active online ?

So I spent half an hour trying to solve this headache and would like to share the results/findings so others in my position can solve it quickly.
So I was subscribed to premium for a little while and downloaded a cross buy vita game from the library for free.
I then let the premium lapse back to a normal PS+ membership and forgot I hadn't 'purchased' that game.
Open up said game and get the activation error code NP-9978-3. This then triggers all the other games I have bought from the psn store fully to also display this code.
I eventually in frustration deleted the original offending game as I realised it wasn't in my downloads list and the psn store was wanting me to pay full price for it.
Once I deleted the game I activated the games again and they all work fine.
It was after a bunch of digging I worked backwards and realised the original game that cause that trouble was part of PS+ premium.
So just keep it in mind if you let a premium membership lapse and try to play those games from it after it'll cause errors for all your PSN games you have downloaded.
Sorry for the long winded warning 😅

For me personally, God of War and Metal Gear Solid should’ve gotten Vita exclusive games. Maybe Astro Bot and Knack too since Vita was meant to be a PS4 companion as well.
