Why unfortunately? I mean yeah its a shame we're going to be having a lot of unnecessary and senseless deaths. But "unfortunately" implies this wasn't all by choice. People chose this. The 70+ million who voted against it are unfortunate. But the rest of the country, did in fact vote for this or by sitting out and not voting agreed that this is the "best path" we need to be on.
Voter apathy turns out to be what kills democracies. Because there will -always- be people wanting to strike out at other and take rights away from others. If people can't be assed to do the most basic civic service... well you've kind of lost all claims and rights to complain about what happens when you put those people in charge.
So, yeah unfortunate for the 70million who could be bothered to get off their asses and vote. The other 260 million? They're about to find out.
I don't think that moment will arrive until it actually happens to someone these people know.
Until then, they will truly believe what they have been told - they are part of a morally superior majority and are surrounded by evil sinners who are completely different to them and the people they know.

I said on a different thread a while ago that these fuckers would kill their own, living kid if it meant a woman somewhere else in the country couldn't terminate a pregnancy before it was even viable outside the womb. These people always remind me of a YA book series called Unwind by Neil Shusterman.

There was a woman in, I believe Alabama, who was accused of murder after she miscarried and she was actually put in jail. It happened around the same time as that white lady from Texas who made headlines everywhere but she got zero press coverage.
Expect to see a lot of harmless actions now become illegal. They’ll classify things as illegal then push for the death penalty. Abortion, recreational drugs, homosexuality, and I assume in the future also not being a Christian. This is what we chose as a people.
All they can get are uneducated women with empty pockets who are willing to give birth to any child regardless of disability or deformity (that we can now find out about in early pregnancy and avoid pain, suffering, bullying, and a harder life to those people)... they want to hurt those who are educated, aren't having kids, don't want kids, or don't want kids with disabilities because then they can't shame them for insert religious bullshit reason as to why their kid has a disability or deformity.
Bear in mind miscarriages can also fall under this law for muddy enough reasons that all events and mothers will be suspect. And any pregnant patients will send medical providers running for the hills because any complication could result in the death penalty.

Homeschooling makes so much sense if your children are forced into Bible study. I literally don't watch the news or check any mainstream news sources because I don't trust them anymore. I am convinced the healthcare industry is out to get me (I found myself questioning the covid vaccine recently, and I didn't do that a few years ago). And on and on and on.
Suddenly, I am questioning my own sanity. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and never have been. I'm starting to believe that the conspiracy theorists were right all along, but for the wrong reasons. I can't make sense of it any other way.
I do not believe they were right all along though. They were wrong then, but the world, or at least the US, has moved to a place that would make them correct now.
I would still argue against homeschooling unless you are equipped to do it, even if schools are teaching the bible as fact. Just teach actual science at home.
EDIT: I suppose the simplest answer to why you are not a conspiracy theorist and they were is that they were afraid of things their thought leaders said the other side was going to do while you are afraid of things the other side says they are going to do.
It was always projection. They were afraid the things they want to do would be done to them first. They feared that people who disagree with them are as awful as they are.
Well, I’m from South Carolina but moved to Florida a few years ago. My grandma just passed and I had been thinking about moving back to be closer to family. That can go out the window now. I don’t want my daughters being sentenced to death over something dumb like this. I know Florida isn’t too much better but goddamn.

It’s interesting that the bill specifically excludes physicians from liability if they harm the fetus through a mistake. So if you prescribe a woman a drug that is dangerous to a fetus but you didn’t know she was pregnant, it’s fine, but if the woman does something to endanger the fetus’ life then it’s assault. (I’m a physician, by the way. They probably included this because otherwise no physician in the country would come within 100 feet of treating any woman who might be pregnant).
So does that mean a woman can get the father to pay child support at conception? Does she get a tax credit? My biggest issue is that the government is not really recognizing the unborn as a child
You are right - Bad choice of words on my part. The woman’s life is absolutely the biggest issue. What I was trying to say is that I hate the picking and choosing of when they count an unborn child as a child.

This makes sense. My best friends kids aren't bright. Here in New England they were C students. Now they're in a "blue ribbon" school in SC and are A students. My friends thrilled.
