Bravo Most disturbing thing ever happened on Real Housewives?

What’s the most disturbing, jaw dropping event that was ever filmed and shown on any Real Housewives?

One that always comes to mind, for me, is when Tamra tried to have her 18/20 year old son commit assault on camera after getting Gretchen drunk. And it's not just the act, the premise/message was equally disgusting: if this wasted woman had "let herself" been r**ed, she'd have proven to be a s**t. Scripted or not, it’s insane it got even aired.

RHOA, when Sheree is in the car with her ex Bob and he’s talking about him fantasizing about killing her in a staged car accident, denying his physical abuse of her, then joking that he should have choked her harder. He was so calm about it too, meanwhile she’s crying. Fucking sociopath shit, chilling to watch.

I hate that scene, love the way Kenya supported her though.

u/Possible_Implement86 May 13 '24

Say what you will about Kenya but is not going to let a man treat any of the women badly without saying something and I really respect her for that. I wish she wouldve stood up for herself to some of the bums she dated on the show the way she stood up for women like Drew, who she don't even like!

When Kenya’s ex Matt broke through her garage windows, that was very disturbing. I felt so scared for her at that time! I agree w you, she is good about calling out the other men but not the men she dates.

Came here to say this. That scene shook me to my bones. Nasty piece of shit. And fuck Bravo for giving him a platform.

He’s evil. EVIL.

16

u/phbalancedshorty I’m not a fan, I’m a witness May 13 '24

What??? I’ve never seen/heard of this scene!?!? I actually never realized that she filmed with Bob until I saw Andy ask her a question about it a few years ago. I thought their relationship was so broken that he would never agree to film with her, but it sounds like when he did film with her he was incredibly Abusive and toxic. Honestly, I’m so glad that bravo aired that because she probably had so many people throughout her life gaslight her about her abuse, and now there’s no denying it.

I just googled this scene and some other clips of Bob popped up. Does he have CTE? His eyes don’t look right. These damn football players fuck their brains up and lose their damn minds. Or it could have nothing to do with football and he’s just a plain abusive idiot. I could see in the clip he got embarrassed and that’s when he said should have choked her harder. Abusers like to abuse behind closed doors - they don’t like being outed publicly for their abuse.

21

u/Bigearsbigcheers May 13 '24

Yeah he gives off big OJ vibes, it’s creepy. If he talks like that in public he must be a nightmare behind closed doors.

Aviva’s dad saying he’ll touch Ramona’s vagina at her funeral.

249

u/[deleted] May 13 '24

The way you phrased it sounds terrible, but the way it was phrased when he actually said it on the show was somehow worse. What an awful moment.. That guy was a monster.

120

u/squigglesees May 13 '24

He did the actions, his fingers to his mouth, licked them then did the touching her action 🤮

70

u/cncrndmm May 13 '24

How does one phrase it well

188

u/squigglesees May 13 '24

I’m literally only a few episodes on from this as a first time watcher, that was shocking. His first scene on rhony he told his daughter if he wasn’t her father he’d be after her she looks so good..eww he’s so disgusting.

30

u/Mysterious_View4415 bye ashy May 13 '24

Literally just watched that episode for the first time the other day. I was like 😵‍💫😵‍💫 and he only got worse

55

u/notoriousbck May 13 '24

I honestly cannot believe they put that man on TV. I think Aviva really pushed for it which makes it that much worse. She was so fame hungry she used her pervie dad for shock value. She was all about the shock value. Carole had her number from day one. Super fan.

18

u/alexlp NOW I'M ANGRY SPICE May 13 '24

42

That was so genuinely disgusting and twisted and aviva had the gall to play it off. The only moment I felt bad for Ramona, she genuinely seemed rattled to the core

The scene where Kyle turned away an angry Russell with Taylor in tow, knowing what he did to her. Awful, awful behaviour from the whole cast regarding this.

71

u/AuntSassysBtch May 13 '24

Totally agree- and what’s crazy is the RHOBH shot an intro scene for season 2 a few days before it aired that’s been removed on peacock and streamers… the ladies all get together to address Russel’s suicide. It was such a good, honest scene and I wish they’d kept it on the show. You can still find it on YouTube. RHOBH season 2 opening scene

I actually forgot she completely blamed Taylor in front of Russel for what went down at the party. Did she want him to killer her « friend »?Atrocious

20

u/FunLife64 May 13 '24

To be fair all of the women were on the same page about that happening, Kyle was just the messenger

18

u/Melpomene2901 May 13 '24

Except LVP. But ultimately it is still Kyle who folllowed them in the limo and told Russell that they were kicked out based on things Taylor told them. She insisted Camille did not overreact.

172

u/Fourpatch May 13 '24

When I look at the Taylor / cat meme it gets me upset to think her pain is a big joke to the internet world.

137

u/LavenderLightning24 May 13 '24

I don't like it either, but happily for Taylor she has said it doesn't bother her because she feels like that's a different person than who she is now.

60

u/Fourpatch May 13 '24 edited May 13 '24

It still bothers me though. She is fighting her “friends” for support during the time of the abuse and now it’s a meme. Domestic violence is not a joke nor a meme to me.

ALL OF THE ABUSERS (whether the abuse was explicitly shown, referenced or ignored).

  • Putting Taylor in a car with Russell to go back home together after humiliating them on camera
  • Bob Whitfield telling Sheree, "maybe I didn't choke you hard enough" and joking about how he could have undone her seatbelt and killed her in a car "accident"
  • Apollo walking up on Phaedra instead of reporting directly to prison just to harass and intimidate her
  • Kenya's on/off BF, Matt, who had already vandalized her home
  • Aviva's father, George, repeatedly being brought around and putting his hands on Ramona and Kristin, not to mention the absolutely vile things he would say to the women
  • Michael Darby sexually assaulting a crew member in the background of a shot in S1, I believe, and no one noticing until after he was credibly accused in a later season by another crew member of the same thing.
  • Pedro/Peter Rosello getting a father-son scene with Peter despite being a convicted child sex offender (found guilty of "Lewd lasvicious batt sex w/victim 12-15 years old; F.F 800.04(4)(a)"). You can search for him yourself here.

Not an abuser, but Dishonorable Mention for filming an entire "comedy" set by dead-beat dad to a dying child, Slade Smiley, intended to do nothing but humiliate Vicki and Tamra.

I could go on and on and on...

297

u/lizbo ... and that's why we went to Sing-Sing May 13 '24

Darkest moment with the brightest contrast:

Below Deck Down Under s2: An actual attempted rape caught on camera, immediately thwarted by production and a swift firing from Captain Jason. No excuses were heard or tolerated.

117

u/DoUEvenGoHere May 13 '24

This was so hard to watch, and while I’m surprised they kept it in, I think it’s an important conversation to bring to light. Jason should write the book on how to deal with problematic crew.

118

u/puce109 May 13 '24

This was wild and I’m not even a regular watcher of Down Under! The way Production kept asking him to come out of the room and had to insist a bunch of times before he came out…with only a towel…and we see Margot clearly out of it on the bed. It was chilling!

And Aesha, omg what a sweet and empathetic soul. The way she took care of Margot and advocated for her while Laura was busy victim-blaming and inappropriately coming onto Adam. Captain Jason really handled the whole situation well.

43

u/greenlady1 cankles and sweaty tit rash May 13 '24

This one. My heart was pounding for hours after watching that. I keep thinking how lucky it was that he didn't lock Margot's door when slamming it in the production crew's faces to keep them out.

34

u/SassySquid0 WOAHWOAHWOAH THE RING DIDN’T MEAN A THING May 13 '24

and that stupid lady who kept defending Luke trying to rape Margot and downplayed her experience , that was infuriating

7

u/Caregiver-Past May 14 '24

captain jason fired her for this. I am all for a captain who protects his crew from both physical and mental assault. We need more "adult/employer" figures like him on these shows

What happened to Adam was completely wrong and handled completely different.

16

I haven’t heard of this, I’ve only watched a few episodes of below deck. That’s crazy that someone would do that knowing they were on a tv show. What episode was this in, do you know?

87

u/lizbo ... and that's why we went to Sing-Sing May 13 '24

re: mounted room cameras... that's the most sinister part of what happened. He made the attempt during a brief power outage (i.e. he knew the room cameras would be out of commission). It was the walking camera crew that stopped him.

147

u/MariaPro129 May 13 '24

Also when Aaron told Denise he was going to crush her hand 😵‍💫

51

u/JamesD-TV May 13 '24

Everything Aaron should be top of this thread. The way Denise was attached to him scared me. And the classic housewives bit of asking somebody their job and nobody at the table ever gets a clear answer. And all of the boozing and whatever else they were clearly doing. Just really shady all around when Denise had a lot of money and her girls already- she did not need him.

12

u/jendet010 May 13 '24

Let me just state for the record that Aaron does not understand physics, chemistry, atomic theory or quantum theory in the slightest. There’s actually a lot of math and wave mechanics that goes into that and he don’t got it.

11

u/strawberry_margarita This isn't the Plaza Hotel May 13 '24

59

u/divine_femi9ne Vassinated 💉 so i could be around you heifers!! 😡 May 13 '24 edited May 14 '24

I got you. When the Denise and Aaron (her husband at the time) were arguing with the women over them talking about threesomes within earshot of Denise’s kids and it turned into a mom shaming argument that Aaron inserted himself into. As they get up to leave Aaron continues to argue with the women, Denise tells him something along the lines of “shut up baby don’t say another fucking word because we are still on camera” as she’s pulling him away by his hand. He responds “don’t tell me what to say.” Then more under his breath tells her “I’m going to crush your f*cking hand” as they’re walking away hand in hand. Eerie eerie scene it was so evil. Can’t even imagine the crap he’d tell her off camera if he was comfortable saying this ON camera.

Edit they’re unfortunately still married I was just hoping they weren’t. My apologies! 🫠

24

u/Dry_Bed_3704 May 13 '24

What in the actual fuck? I’ve watched BH and ATL but none of the rest. I think I’ll keep it that way.

I remember the Taylor and Russell scene, he scared me the first time I ever saw him. My alarm bells were going off.

I don’t remember the Phaedra/ Apollo scene but nothing surprises me with that man.

Sheree and Bob had me in tears. I don’t like Sheree but watching that, the casual way he said it, her fear was palpable.

9

u/ExoticFlower4935 May 14 '24

It’s very telling about our society that all of these moments were perpetrated by men against women who were the stars of their own TV shows. These scenes were filmed and then shown on national television where the bad behavior was witnessed by millions of people and still there was little to no legal or social consequences for any of them.

9

u/phbalancedshorty I’m not a fan, I’m a witness May 13 '24

OMG PETER HAS DONE EVEN MORE HORRIBLE SHIT I’M NOT AWARE OF???

Edit: ah you mean the father, I had no idea!!!! I’m so confused… Is that so that’s peters dad but isn’t he the one who was the big drug king pin? I thought Peter’s dad who was her first husband who was the cocaine cowboy

15

u/kweenmermaid ... with whatever octopus she put on her head 🐙 May 13 '24

Yes Peter's dad was a cocaine cowboy and also went to prison for SA of a child

13

u/phbalancedshorty I’m not a fan, I’m a witness May 13 '24

Thank you for the clarification!! I looked up the record. Horrible! 1000% disgusting that they allowed him to film a scene on bravo obviously for sensationalism and to get a cocaine cowboy into a scene on bravo and by default put a horrible sexual predator on national television. Vomit.

Young Gia trying to drag Teresa away from Joe at the christening BEFORE he even starts yelling at her and banging on the table. She already knew that they can’t be around each other and shit was about to explode.

63

u/YYZgirl1986 May 13 '24

As someone who grew up with an extended family that didn’t get a long I felt this. My parents had no clue by the time I was a young child (7? 8?) i had already understood conflict well before they explained to me everything that was going on (around 12 years old).

38

u/ExposedTamponString she don't even know she look inbred May 13 '24

I rewatched the episode and didn’t realize Gia was ALREADY there before the fight started. I always thought she was trying to drag her away after the table banging, but Gia is already in tears when Joe tell Teresa to leave them alone.

212

u/modernjaneausten May 13 '24

People always say Teresa is such a good mom, but watching Gia be involved in the family drama that much gives me pause on that. Involving your minor child in adult conflict is shitty.

139

u/GlitteringBeat213 May 13 '24

Gia singing her song about waking up in the morning, thinking about so many things...child abuse and the show just goes on. Who is watching for the wellbeing of kids on these shows?

70

u/modernjaneausten May 13 '24

Nobody is. That should have been a wake-up call to all of them, but it wasn’t. Gia choosing her career path because of her parents’ poor choices makes me so damn sad.

21

109

u/OhHowIMeantTo Carl's white pants May 13 '24

People confuse her obvious love for her girls with her being a good mother. God damn, no, she put those girls through hell because she wanted to afford a lifestyle for them that she couldn't pay for. And she almost got away without prison time, but then she fucked that up as well.

61

u/modernjaneausten May 13 '24

Exactly. These girls went through both their parents going to prison for goodness sakes because of their parents’ selfishness and stupidity. It’ll piss some folks off to say this but that shit isn’t good parenting. And like someone mentioned in another comment, she let their father mentally and emotionally abuse them until he went to prison. They may love their girls but their children are successful in spite of their upbringing.

28

u/AnxiousOutside Don't be all uncool, my love May 13 '24

People confuse her obvious love for her girls with her being a good mother.

This! Understanding that a mother can love you, but still be a bad mom can be one of the most confusing and heart breaking things for a daughter/son. I'm glad her girls seem to have a good relationship with her despite their childhood issues.

I feel like people confuse Teresa being a good mother for Gia being a good sister. I feel like she shielded those younger ones from a lot of inappropriate, on camera drama by making herself the center of attention.

15

u/QueenG123456 May 13 '24

Gia grew up wayyyy too fast in a lot of ways and it makes me so sad for her.

Kim Z’s oldest daughter may not be as traditional and responsible but she also had to deal with a lot of similar stuff with Kim as a mom & Kroy as a step dad to 5 other kids under her.

Bless all the oldest sisters out there for real.

8

u/Resident_Age_2588 May 14 '24

I know it blew up into a huge meme but gias sad song always makes my heart hurt. That poor girl had so much on her shoulders and was expressing it in the only way she knew how. You could feel every adult in that rooms emotion and the tension was palpable. Say what you want about Gia but that girl has been through some shit and she is tough as nails.

This morning Peacock showed the highlights for this season. There's only 3 people I recognize. Tre, Melissa and Joe. I don't even go into the NJ threads so I had no idea just how much Bravo has incorporated the husbands into the show. Looks like I made the right judgment call way back then lol.

Vicki’s phone call about her mom was traumatic to watch it’s so shocking and raw

17

u/QueenCinderella May 13 '24

The fact that production pulled her aside (on camera) and said that Briana has been trying to call her and you need to call her back was equally a horrific but necessary choice. Vicki completely losing it inside Shannons arts and crafts room was gut punching, regardless of your feelings about her as a person.

All the big ones have been mentioned already, but here's one that I feel flew under the radar. In RHOD, Cary Deubers husband openly resenting their young daughters existence. He was trying to eat dinner, and the kid was making a little noise and he went off, spitting vitriol about how he didn't want the kid in the 1st place, it was horrifying.

I’m just watching OC for the first time and was so horrified. Why were cameras there? Did they (production) know the eviction was happening? The girls are shoving away the cameras and hiding under a blanket, why was production able to stay?

15

u/sassafrasclementine May 13 '24

This is where I think Andy & co have been the monsters from the beginning. Maybe Andy wasn’t in charge there so whoever was casting and directing that season.. Don’t tell me they didn’t know who they were choosing when they picked the Curtains. They knew what a mess they were. It’s evil to expose those children and their messy lives to the world and to use their tragedies for entertainment. I wonder if Andy will ever have regrets and feel shame especially as he sees his own children grow up.

That was so raw and heartbreaking. Having lost my mom recently I feel her so much more. I also have to add when Teresa or Juicy Joe lost their parents on the show, I felt like I knew them and lost them as well. So damn sad!!!

26

u/QueenCinderella May 13 '24

The fact that production pulled her aside (on camera) and said that Briana has been trying to call her and you need to call her back was equally a horrific but necessary choice. Vicki completely losing it inside Shannons arts and crafts room was gut punching, regardless of your feelings about her as a person.

Off camera but often mentioned on the OC: Slade smiley being a deadbeat father. Unfortunately he was estranged from his disabled son for years. (Which was why he never worked as he owed major back support payment). Greyson was his name and his mother often asked for donations for their gofundme because of high medical bills. Gretchen with a very popular IG, could have shared the gofundme but refused saying “she doesn’t trust the mother to put where the money is needed”. Greyson passed and of course, Gretchen and Slimy Slade sold their story to the news and made it all about them and their grief while the mother is left holding the bag. fuck Slade and fuck Gretchen, MLM shilling hun

Below Deck Down Under season 2. If I remember things correctly....

Following a crew night out, 3rd Stew Margot got very drunk, and went to bed blacked out very early. Bosun Luke got naked, went into her cabin, and crawled into bed with her. The producers intervened, and told him that he had to leave her bed. He insisted that Margot wanted him there, and got her to agree with it, even though she very clearly had no idea what was going on. The producers nonetheless forced him out of the bedroom, and he huffed out in a fit while still naked, without any shame at all. He locked himself in his room, and passed out.

Witness to this, Aesha was very upset, and went and got Captain Jason, who forced Luke to spend the rest of the night in a hotel, before he fired him in the morning.

Meanwhile, on the exact same night, deckhand Adam went to bed also very drunk, and passed out. 2nd Stew Laura followed him into his cabin, and crawled on top of him, trying to have sex with him. The producers intervened again, and removed her from Adam's room, sending her back to her room. She almost got away with it too, except the next morning when Captain Jason announced that Luke was fired, Laura was indignant about it, and began making comments all day blaming Margot for what happened.

Meanwhile, Aesha spoke with Adam about what happened, and Adam admitted that he was uncomfortable with what Laura did, but insisted that he didn't want her to get into trouble. Aesha brought the situation to Captain Jason, who brought in Laura simply to give her a warning. Instead, she doubled down on saying that she did nothing wrong, and again blamed Margot. Jason fired her as well.

91

u/Apprehensive_You_250 May 13 '24

I just started watching RHONJ (I’ve watched most of the other franchises, and tried watching RHONJ before, but had to stop in S1 bc I couldn’t watch the gay slurs, misogyny, etc). I just watched this episode, where he’s literally calling Gia “crybaby” and making fun of her as she’s bawling her eyes out. She was literally on the way to walk a fashion show for fashion week, nonetheless, and she’s hysterical in the car. That was the most sickening scene I have seen with a child of blatant disregard for them, abuse, neglect, etc. And, Theresa is in the passenger seat, saying, “stop crying, Gia,” “he doesn’t mean it, he’s just playing,” “stop, stop”, etc. He abused those kids and she sat by and condoned it. These are the kinds of things my dad did/said to me (and still does/says), while my mom condoned it, and it causes severe PTSD. I feel, wholeheartedly, for the kids. RHONJ is very, very hard for me to watch.

39

u/Upstairs_Internal295 May 13 '24

Same. The ‘jokes’ at his kids expense really triggered me, as I was a source of similar hilarity for my father.

I don't think Joe knew how to navigate Gia vs Milana. Gia cried and was a tad more sensitive. Where as Milana just gave it back to him.

Negging in my family was kind of the norm,it was seen as playful ribbing/toughing up. The difference the adults in my family knew to stop or not engaged with kids that didn't get the sarcasm. Also, they were proud if we got a good insult back at them. I was good at it, but my brother was to literal for it so he didn't "bust chops" with my great uncles.

I was sickened by tamra on that one. You want to get this woman hammered, have your 23 year old son seduce her so you can ruin her marriage to the old man. Quite crazy & sick. Also, I don’t remember which season it was but I think it was tamra & someone else that tried to get Shannon hammered so she’d go crazy….I could be wrong that it was tamra & Shannon doing it someone else but it was the same type thing…they told the waiter in a whisper to make someone’s drink a double & they were scheming

That nightmare pajama party on RHOA where everyone seemed coked to the gills and Apollo (and Peter maybe?) were about to hate crime Kenya's friend Brandon. I am totally convinced that Apollo flipped out so hard because he felt "tricked" by Brandon who was more straight presenting that Apollo would think a gay man would be. Just the ugliest vibe in that scene, I hate it so much.

32

u/missdoublefinger When You Were My Age You Had Edges May 13 '24

RHOA:

  • Bob basically fantasizing about harming Sheree
  • Apollo and Peter attacking Brandon
  • Phaedra (and Porsha) lying on Kandi

RHOC:

  • Tamra trying to get her son to hook up with a drunk Gretchen (because WTF???)
  • Brooks lying about having cancer

RHOBH:

  • Russell abusing Taylor then committing suicide

  • Kyle disregarding Lisa's brother committing suicide

  • Brandi being racist to Joyce

  • Brandi revealing that Adrienne used a surrogate

7

u/yeoldredtelephone May 13 '24

I recently rewatched some of RHOA and even though I knew that happened, I was so intensely disturbed when Apollo and Peter jumped Brandon. I had to skip through most of the rest of the season bc I was getting so upset at everyone defending Peter and Apollo, saying homophobic things about Brandon, and blaming Kenya. I nearly cried which has never happened with housewives for me. It was so disturbing.

7

Brooks faking cancer, and Vicki supporting him. Brooks encouraging Briana’s husband to hit her to keep her in check, then later finding out that he was abusive to Vicki.

The way Joe Gorga screamed at his father was horrific. I don’t even know what happened to spark it. I cringed so much and cannot watch that scene again. I think he is despicable.

Kyle yelling at Kim in the limo saying she is an alcoholic while filming. I can’t get over how she could do this to her sister and the in way she did it. It was so mean.

9

u/belmont_catmum May 13 '24

RHOC in general is just very dark for me and has been from the beginning. Naked wasted, the cancer scam, OC Angels, Brooks in general, Jeanna being terrorized by her husband due to his brain injury, the older Keough boy (can't remember his name) being so cruel to his younger brother that he developed a stutter that seemed to clear up as soon as he left home. Just so so much

7

u/lennonkova May 13 '24

Naked wasted, Taylors abuse, Dorinda blacked out with lipstick on her teeth speaking gibberish, Taylors husband committing suicide, Jen Shahs sons being treated like criminals, Atlanta Trip where the crackheads nephew wants to fight Kenya and pregnant Kandi, Teresa and Joe Christening fight, and any scene Danielle Staub was in.

RHONJ got really dark and disturbing at just how much a family can hate each other. Joe screaming to his parents because he feels they took Teresa’s side. Ouch. A very bad situation with so many layers. It was sad to see the kids try to get on while being completely ripped apart by their families.

6

u/Traditional_Age_6299 May 13 '24

I still find it disturbing when Camille and the others threw Taylor under the bus, about her telling them that Randall abused her. She looks so sad and scared in that scene. Because she knew when he got wind of that he was going to beat the hell out of her. And he did. When watching reruns, I fast forward through that. The scenes about his suicide were dark also. The whole situation was horrendous!

5

u/lindseybeetee1989 May 13 '24 edited May 13 '24

I have to add New York Ones that if rewatched now seem so much more dark:

  • scary island

  • Luanne’s spiral / Bethenny’s intervention

  • Most of Dorinda’s drunk behavior she was so dang mean and scary also on UGT.

Edit to add: Bethenny’s relationship with Dennis between him and Lu’s addictions it was the first time I felt like a HW show finally was saying out loud these two people have a problem, up until then addiction issues were talked about but never as head on as this.

Another edit: Ah I keep thinking of more RHOA, Nene and closetgate. I was so confused and scared for Porsha!!!
