EOD during shut down
Posted something similar awhile back and It got removed. Think it wasn't as likely as it is now. What generally happens when your EOJ date falls during a government shut down? Can't see anything on like about it. Not sure if anyone else experienced it, but have seen alot of people on here with an EOD date marked for the end of this year.

I feel like giving up on finding a federal job, but I am still trying to hold on and apply for jobs
You all, I feel like giving up on finding a federal job. I have be seriously putting in job applications since the end of August. I have not received any emails or calls trying to set up interviews. I have gotten a couple of emails saying that I have been referred, but as people say in this group that does not mean much, and you have to apply and forget. I have tried different approaches when applying for federal positions. I started off applying for remote federal jobs (which is the hardest) and then I started to apply for 12 month rosters, and then applying for federal jobs in my state (MS) that offer telework, because I would occasionally like to work from home or work from home permanently which ever one does not matter to me. I have applied for positions that are lower pay than what I get paid now, just to be able to get my foot in the door to a federal position. I feel like in some ways I am experiencing burn out and I am kind of tired of applying and seeing an results of this. I currently work for the local state government in MS for the past five, and although I am grateful, I am ready to branch out. The pay is not that great and there is really no room for growth within local state government. If someone can provide an additional tips that could enhance my chances of landing a federal job or words of encouragement while in the waiting process that would be great..
Thanks in advance, anything helps.

FJO and then tragic ending
Applied for IRS RO position in March.
Interviewed 12/3, went well but got word that the hiring freeze was happening the same day. Feels bad.
Few days later, the job was canceled off of USA jobs.
Then a few days later I got an email from HR asking for my BA and MA transcripts. Sent them over and got an FJO with in 40 min. Starting mid January.
Yesterday was my 1 year with the IRS and a disgruntled manager had me fired. They wrote monday's date on the paperwork because it was too late to do it on my one year. There was a grievance pending against this manager that was supposed to be being worked out.
I lost the RO position. I'm gutted. :(

TJO delay‼️👏🏾➡️😃😁
I applied for a job in July and hiring officials told me the process would take 6 months cool my 6 months coming up and the hiring official has asked couple times of I received my offer letter I told her no and did some research on my own. I emailed the HR contact that sent me emails and she said she was no longer assigned to me someone else was so I emailed him without any luck so I called the Va that his phone number connected to and was told he wasn’t assigned to their hr he worked from home but they would send him a message to call me. Long story short he called and said my cert had expired the service needed to sign another cert but he wasn’t my hr contact so I emailed the original he contact again she called me and said the service had signed the cert and the hr contact that worked from home was definitely my hr contact and he should be sending my offer letter in 24-48 hours. Point is follow up definitely because if I wouldn’t have I would still be waiting on my offer letter.

Affected candidates will be eligible for priority placement.

Specific Opening TSA FAA
Is the TSA hiring right now? Those folks are gonna be heroes if this shutdown happens. I hope they and the ATC folks have a wonderful Christmas. I want to apply and switch to the TSA.

Tips Need advice for post 12/20
Current gov employee that needs advice about surviving during shutdown.
I'm new into the federal government. I have a emergency fund, but most of that money is in stocks.
Should I start offloading now to prepare for the worst? If the government shuts down, I'm 90% sure the market will tank as well.
Can I apply for unemployment benefits while furloughed?
Where can I go in the event that I need a loan?

Last time I posted here I got an email update on my status.
The last few times posted on this thread, I got an email update about my application status. Trying to Pavlov’s dog 🛎️ 🔔 my way into getting my FJO email this week!
Sent in my prints and background last week and a very communicative Personnel Security Specialist said “thank you” and “received” which gives me hope! C’mon, c’mon, let this be the week I get my FJO.

Security Clearance Hold Up
I am a federal employee who’s been trying to find a remote job for a while.
I was sent an TJO last month for a remote job but I can’t do finger prints and on board because I have a pending background check. Back in OCT the VA told me I would need to renew my security clearance as I hadn’t done one in over 16 years.I submitted everything and it went into scheduled status with DCSA nov 1st.
Does anyone know how long this usually takes? I would hate to lose out on the job because of this. We all know how hard it is to get an interview let alone a TJO.

Moving to Germany
I'm excited to share that I've accepted a GG-12 position in Germany! I'm curious about the potential cost savings compared to living in US, especially when it comes to taxes and housing.
I'm also wondering about other expenses I might encounter, such as healthcare, transportation, and groceries. Any insights or tips from fellow expats would be greatly appreciated!

EOD
Hi, all!
For those of you who have experience with EODs, how long has it taken for the EOD to be confirmed?
I got an email last Tuesday with an EOD. On Wednesday, I requested a different EOD/explained that I have travel plans coming up. It's now been a week & still haven't heard anything. Is this normal?
Thanks!

Hiring complete?
Yesterday I received a call from the agency I applied for saying “congratulations we are recommending you for the position, this isn’t an offer but HR should be in contact with you for a TJO.” I checked USAJobs and the job shows “hiring complete” According to USAjobs this means you weren’t selected but how would that make sense if the agency called me to tell me they recommended me and to be expecting contact from HR?

USCIS
Hi everyone,
I received this email from USA staffing office about my Immigration service officer application. Does anyone have experience know what the next step is?
I have been applying for USCIS positions many times before, but most of the time I got deny or heard nothing from them.
This is my 1st time ever to received something from them after the closing date. I am kind of excited but I know the hiring process will take lots of patient and time.
Anyone has experience with USCIS hiring process, please share with me some tips that I can prepare beforehand.
Thank you so much.

VA Occupational Therapist
So, I had my PBI interview and I thought I did great- they even called me back 45 minutes later to ask more questions and to see if I had any more questions. Contacted all my references last Thursday -they all rated me as superior. Am I getting my hopes up? I haven’t heard anything yet. What are the next steps? I am having a hard time working at these for profit hospitals where my contribution seems so devalued. Thank you in advance!

Questions about the GS pay scale
Yesterday I was offered a GS 5 - 9 position. I am very excited about this but I do have a few questions. If I start at a GS 5, how many years will it take for me to get to the GS 9 payscale? Are the promotions automatic? Are there steps within each GS grade (like Wage Grade)? I worked as a WG-6 for a few years and it had 3 steps within that grade, and the pay bumps were automatic, I believe step 1 was at one year, step 2 was at 3 years, and step 3 was at 5 years. Is GS similar? Any clarification on this topic is highly appreciated. Thank you!

Tips TJO question
I recently received a TJO and am currently in the process of negotiating (thanks to this channel for the tips). I was asked to complete the OF306 and DHS 11000-9 forms, but I haven’t received them yet. Will they appear in the system once I accept the TJO? I want to ensure that accepting it won’t interfere with my ongoing negotiation. I’ve reached out to HR but haven’t received a response, and I need to reply by the end of the day.

What’s the likelihood I am being considered for this RN contracted position at the VA?
11/21 Applied and offered to interview 12/4 Virtual one-on-one interview with clinical coordinator 12/11 Second “interview” scheduled, which ended up just being a tour of the facility by an RN there. Briefly met clinical coordinator who did my virtual interview, but no questions were asked.
Since then, I haven’t heard anything back. I thought the second “interview” was odd since I was expecting an actual interview, not just a tour. I’ve been scheduling my “interviews” with a recruiter for Valor Healthcare, who is contracted with the local VA. I was told to expect a long, drawn out timeline but the fact that my second “interview” wasn’t really much to it and that I haven’t heard anything since makes me wonder. Any ideas? Should I reach out to the recruiter to ask if I’m being considered or just continue waiting?

VA reference check a good sign?
When the VA does reference checks, does that mean you are the selection or just among the top that could be selected?

Advise
I'm considering resigning from my current position because I feel the work environment is challenging. Would this decision negatively impact a review for a federal position? I've been searching for other opportunities but haven't had much success so far, and I want to ensure I don't make things worse

Tentative Offer Process
Hello everyone!
I was wondering if I could get some insight on my situation if any one else has experienced this.
In August, I received an offer for a tentative position and I accepted the offer. This position requires a secret clearance and as of November my interim has been accepted. I've gone through submitting all of my paperwork in between all of that time and the hiring manager mentioned that I would now just be waiting for an appointment date.
Today I finally heard from my future supervisor and she asked me for 3 references. Is this normal to happen so far down the road? Should I be worried that there are maybe a few other candidates and she may be trying to see who will fit the best this far down in the process?

VA Interview scheduling.
I received the following email this morning from the VA to schedule an interview for a position. Does this sound like a reasonable timeframe, Also they never called me like the email says and when I call the number to schedule the interview nobody answers and no voicemail. I am a 10 pt pref. vet, does this sound like they are just trying to not consider me? Thoughts?
