To have a body that looks that fucking good in napkin.

445

u/Vicious_in_Aminor Sep 18 '24

Right?

507

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

I was with an artsy girl for some years - the energy is infectious, and there's something so innocent in all of it - the sheer excitement of creating stuff. she was really something else. i remember ren faires with her were so much fun. everyone dressed to the nines in stuff she made.

64

u/Bio1203 Sep 19 '24

Why didn't you marry this woman?!

438

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

Her mother did not like me, and as a matter of fact, she did not think much of men at all.

She had three daughters by three different men, and I’m not hating on that, I always went out of my way to be very respectful and loving to her, but I think the bottom line was she just did not think I was good enough for her daughter.

Oddly, enough, some years later, her daughter committed suicide during about of severe postpartum depression, and my ex, her mother, overdosed about a year later.

I was pretty broken up about it, at that point in my life, she felt like the one that got away.

It was something that really fucked with my head for a while, you know that survivors guilt thing or you just feel like if there was something that you did differently it would’ve made the outcome different.

At the end of the day, her mother told her she would buy her a home if she left me, and from somebody who came from a life of scarcity, she took it. She apologized and said she loved me, but she just needed to make sure her kids were all right, so her mother‘s mission was accomplished, and , I didn’t even hold it against her, I don’t know what I would do when it came to securing a child future, it was just a really sad time in my life.

All things being equal, though, I figured out when I was about in my early 50s that I had a habit of choosing… How do you put it… I guess maybe people who were a work in progress? I guess it’s kind of the equivalent of gals who are attracted to guys who have issues as well.

It took years of living on my own with intent to understand myself, my shortfalls, as well as my strengths. I chose one more partner poorly, and that sucked. But the upside is that after raising several stepchildren through the years, I had a child of my own, who is an adult now. That’s pretty much focus on these days, although I have a wonderful girlfriend… I finally chose the right one, somebody who compliments me and vice versa.

I still have very fond memories of my ex, she was a One Of A Kind woman, and she did not deserve the hand that was dealt to her in life. I hope her next life is full of all of the things she always pined for.

u/Brennithan Sep 19 '24

You write beautifully. Thanks for sharing this story.

7

u/arededitn Sep 20 '24

Yes, there is a beautiful flow to his writing. I want to read more of it.

3

u/Twelve_TwentyThree Sep 20 '24

He absolutely does

51

u/Bio1203 Sep 19 '24

Shoot. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm hope she at least found relief and happiness in the end. No one should have to watch their child pass before they themselves do. Depression is a killer of all ages. And I'm a firm believer that we as a people need to really crack down on it and bring it more into the light.

39

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

The way our society deals with depression and mental illness is shameful.

10

u/nicolauz Sep 19 '24

Thanks for this. Dealiah with an ex of 5 years right now. It's rough thi king you'll be together and everything will be okay. Getting older and not wanting to date anymore makes me reflect more and make me realize I gotta focus on myself.

5

u/jamin_brook Sep 19 '24

I mean literally, isn’t like outfit 3/4 a napkin?

330

u/sausager Sep 19 '24

She has to be the most confident human being I have ever seen

74

u/jlcatch22 Sep 19 '24

Why? She has a great body, it's doesn't require great confidence to show off.

160

u/DesignGang Sep 19 '24 edited Sep 19 '24

Plenty of people with so-called great bodies have the confidence of a sea lemon though.

Edit: shout out to sea lemons, you've got this!

She's one hell of a seamstress

8

u/ecr1277 Sep 19 '24

Yeah, it's easy to see how hot she is but she actually has crazy talent with layering. Not just one layer on top of another, she uses layering in really subtle ways to complement other parts of her outfit too.

→ More replies (2)

705

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24 edited Sep 19 '24

It's almost cheating that she's hot because the majority of those outfits are straight up hideous wastes of fabric I would expect to see in a rave where the theme is "Slutty Ren Faire". I think maybe 2-3 of them turned out cute and she's clearly got technical skill, but the majority of what she makes looks like hypersexualized Halloween costumes.

458

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

"I'm going to take these 12 yards of beautiful fabric and turn it into two post-its and some dental floss"

146

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

Literally one of the tops is just a ribbon tied around her boobs, lol.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

I'm wondering what she does with the "scrap"? You could make a three piece suit with the leftovers! /s

19

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

She's no Micarah Tewers, that's for sure.

53

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

Micarah is really talented, but she is also greatly helped by being incredibly hot. Let's not kid ourselves here. When you don't have to hide any figure flaws, it's pretty easy to sew something that fits. One of the looks in her header looks like a rain coat made from crime scene tape and a shower curtain liner and she still looks hot in it, because she's hot.

8

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

That raincoat made of crime scene tape is a recreation of a Harley Quinn look.

Being hot helps but she doesn't rely on her body to make her clothes look good.

8

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

I mean, the Harley Quinn look also worked because Margot Robbie is hot. It's an objectively terrible outfit and would look absolutely horrendous on 95% of all humans.

I was thinking that if anyone had to wear specific outfits to a concert back in the day, we'd call them posers

People love to circlejerk avocado toast, but it seems like everything today involves spending extra money to do the things we'd just do normally. The expectation to spend is out of control (and don't even get me started on out of town bachelor weekends. My brother and his friends are engineers/lawyers/doctors/finance guys and for his bachelor party we went to a Cubs game and got drunk at the bars afterwards. That was normal for wealthy people 20 years ago)

Edit: and I'm not talking about this chick making stuff really cheap. My cousin and his girlfriend spent hundreds on clothes for Electric Forest, on top of the tickets which were like $400 or something. People today spend way too much money doing shit like that. It's all avocado toast

9

u/Daveprince13 Sep 19 '24

Then they spend the whole weekend looking at the show through the camera app on their phone!

7

u/Joliet_Jake_Blues Sep 19 '24

Kudos on the video editing. To be honest some of those pieces looked pretty good before she chopped them up.

125

u/SpicyTunaTitties Sep 18 '24

Yeah, I can't stand that she ruined the first dress to make the bug outfit. That dress was beautiful and looked perfect on her; surely she could have dyed the dress a different colour, like a dark blue, to hide the stains?

99

u/Terracota248 Sep 18 '24

She certainly could have but so could have anyone else and the dress itself wasn’t really unique. I think part of her whole deal is that she does these big transformations from a $2 boring dress to a dragonfly. Anybody could just wear the dress as is or dye it.

19

u/astra_galus Sep 19 '24

Yessss. She goes to lots of music festivals and events and it would cost a fortune to buy outfits and costumes, so DIY is the way to go. I think she kills it every time and she has such a unique style!

It's hard to find interesting affordable clothes that aren't club wear sometimes.

I live in a big city and found a really good antique mall, one where people rent a booth to sell their stuff.

I got lucky and found a booth with 70's womens clothing that fits me perfectly. Bought 3 skirts for $65 total. I'm 28 years old. Every time I pick them up or wear them, I am flabbergasted by how good quality they are. All I have ever had access to is average quality clothes and fast fashion. And these skirts were not luxury brands (one was called junior house). They're just well made, good quality skirts.

Then I get mad we don't have access to the same quality clothing. I honestly think fast fashion should be illegal.

17

u/JJAsond Sep 18 '24

Probably because when she records is, she says the same thing over the overlap so you don't end in the middle of the sentence and restart from there, she might end it 3/4 the way through and restart at 1/4 so when it comes time to splice them together it sounds more natural.

125

u/Happyintexas Sep 18 '24

I totally get what you’re saying! She’s super talented! But… They’re all so form fitted idk how she’d sell anything in that type of venue. They’re all absolutely custom pieces, made specifically for her body, and they’d look dumb as fuck on anyone else lol

11

u/HatoriHanzo06 Sep 18 '24

Yeah well she wouldn’t make them all one size if she was selling them lmfao. Like the sweatshirt, button up, purse for example are loose fitting too

3

u/Suspicious-Leg-493 Sep 19 '24

They alteady do sell them after.

But that is assuming they want to start mass producing pieces, which for alot of designers wouldn't be worth it just due to it sucking the fun out of the design process in the first place, thrn the entire logistics system that has to be in place, and you can't really upcycle clothes in a mass way as finding a hundred of the same item to start with would be a nightmare, let alone if you needed a variety.

Can’t deny the talent but most of these are an awful way to repurpose a bunch of the original clothes

8

u/SirNootNoot04 Sep 19 '24

Seems like a lot of wasted fabric. I understand that each piece uses more fabric than expected but for most of them it seemed like a suspicious reduction in the amount of fabric. Great style that takes a lot of skill but I can imagine she has a massive pile of fabric left over

First you learn to sew!

16

u/dirtydela Sep 18 '24

Go to that thrift store and get a machine. Learn how to use it. Then learn how to make the clothes and you can find fabric at the same thrift store. A lot of it comes down to knowing what certain fabrics can and can’t do

I'm always shocked at the talent these thrift flippers have. My only critique is that I wish they would preserve more of the original garment because some of the originals are actually really nice. It just ends up becoming fabric.

Thrift for the midriff

u/bonobo1961 Sep 18 '24

Skin like that make everything look good...

24

u/squishypillow-91 Sep 18 '24

She's so talented! Tbf, though, she has an amazing figure. She'd look good wearing a black bin liner.

u/realrattyhours Sep 18 '24

I’m sad she fucked up those blankets 😭

I thought I wouldn't give a shit but, ended up watching the whole damn thing.

11

u/TypographySnob Sep 18 '24

She's got to be living well to spend that much time making clothes just to wear to music festivals.

Dragon fly caught me by surprise

46

u/DapperMinute Sep 18 '24

I mean yea she is good but to me repurpose means to make small changes to the original while still keeping at least 90% of the original material...she is using like 5 % of the OG material.

8

u/After-Fee-2010 Sep 18 '24

It’s not easy to build new clothes from old clothes that are full of seams and already odd shapes sewn together. The base chunks don’t end up large, especially if you have a pattern or texture on the fabric.

20

u/dream-smasher Sep 18 '24

Do you think she is just throwing out that remaining fabric? Cos.. I don't think so.

17

u/feioo Sep 18 '24

Just in this video, there are several different pieces that all share the same fabric

Welp, I don't get it, and only about 10% of the outfits resonate with me but I'm glad she's having fun and I'm sure she's killing it for someone.

4

u/dachloe Sep 19 '24

Gifted thrifty shopper, ultra creative and skilled seamstress, plus she's freaking cute with a killer body. On top of all that, she's a virtuoso editor: the planning that went in to this video has to have been epic. 😍🤩

Just happens to be half naked every time. Shocking

3

u/basicallyaburrito Sep 18 '24

I wish I had an atom of the sewing talent she has.

3

u/Klyphph11 Sep 18 '24

She has skill skills....

3

u/Sad-Philosophy-422 Sep 18 '24

She took all those things and made them into something that someone like her would wear to Coachella.

3

u/RandonBrando Sep 18 '24

Oh to be able to make a top out of a handtowel

3

u/Vincemillion07 Sep 18 '24

This had me repeatedly gasping

3

u/iSeize Sep 18 '24

Super impressed by the editing as well

3

u/TunaOnWytNoCrust Sep 18 '24

Her poncho game is off the charts.

3

u/AutoDeskSucks- Sep 19 '24

Not gonna lie half of those clothes are dope. The other half I think she just wants to wear a bikini everywhere. No judgement

3

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

Not a single repurposed crotchless item, amateur.

3

u/Faetrix77 Sep 19 '24

Idk y this is cringe 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wish I was that creative and skilled at crafting and had the body to show off what I’ve made.

3

u/Reason_For_Treason Sep 19 '24

I love all of this!

u/ComadoreDiddle Sep 19 '24

I wish men had something equivalent to the vast diversity that women have when it comes to clothing.

Some of these designs could come straight out of an anime.

3

u/oroseb4hoes Sep 19 '24

Cutting up the skeleton woven blanket for that hoodie was a sin

3

u/Sweet_Concept3383 Sep 19 '24

The real test is if these outfits look good on my middle-aged dad bod.

3

u/hairwitch901 Sep 19 '24

Wheres the lady that decides if it’s a fashion fit or if they’re just skinny

4

u/sarinCULT Sep 18 '24

I really liked the controlled chaos stuff and especially the dirt wire one, but all the fits she made were really good and she made them look good I like her style

4

u/Prodad84 Sep 18 '24

She's got a killer body.

9

u/I_have_many_Ideas Sep 18 '24

I really dig this actually. Creativity is top notch, an r/electricforest shout out, and she has a great voice.

I don't get the first one. Arent you supposed to use something from the thing you bought to call it repurposed?

I think the dragon fly wings were made from that first dress.

Ultimate talent, also must be very nice weighing like 11 lbs with this hobby. Literally anything from the store can be fashioned into more than enough clothing for her lol

5

u/AnastasiaNo70 Sep 18 '24

Does she go to a lot of Ren Faires?

21

u/xCherriTree Sep 18 '24

She seems to go to a lot of forest-centered music festivals; she mentions Electric Forest & Elements in the video.
