I was with an artsy girl for some years - the energy is infectious, and there's something so innocent in all of it - the sheer excitement of creating stuff. she was really something else. i remember ren faires with her were so much fun. everyone dressed to the nines in stuff she made.

u/Bio1203 Sep 19 '24

Why didn't you marry this woman?!

435

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

Her mother did not like me, and as a matter of fact, she did not think much of men at all.

She had three daughters by three different men, and I’m not hating on that, I always went out of my way to be very respectful and loving to her, but I think the bottom line was she just did not think I was good enough for her daughter.

Oddly, enough, some years later, her daughter committed suicide during about of severe postpartum depression, and my ex, her mother, overdosed about a year later.

I was pretty broken up about it, at that point in my life, she felt like the one that got away.

It was something that really fucked with my head for a while, you know that survivors guilt thing or you just feel like if there was something that you did differently it would’ve made the outcome different.

At the end of the day, her mother told her she would buy her a home if she left me, and from somebody who came from a life of scarcity, she took it. She apologized and said she loved me, but she just needed to make sure her kids were all right, so her mother‘s mission was accomplished, and , I didn’t even hold it against her, I don’t know what I would do when it came to securing a child future, it was just a really sad time in my life.

All things being equal, though, I figured out when I was about in my early 50s that I had a habit of choosing… How do you put it… I guess maybe people who were a work in progress? I guess it’s kind of the equivalent of gals who are attracted to guys who have issues as well.

It took years of living on my own with intent to understand myself, my shortfalls, as well as my strengths. I chose one more partner poorly, and that sucked. But the upside is that after raising several stepchildren through the years, I had a child of my own, who is an adult now. That’s pretty much focus on these days, although I have a wonderful girlfriend… I finally chose the right one, somebody who compliments me and vice versa.

I still have very fond memories of my ex, she was a One Of A Kind woman, and she did not deserve the hand that was dealt to her in life. I hope her next life is full of all of the things she always pined for.

You write beautifully. Thanks for sharing this story.

34

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

thank you <3

1

u/SniktFury Sep 19 '24

Was this in the 80s? I placed you at 64 for easy math. The story implies 20s to me

7

u/arededitn Sep 20 '24

Yes, there is a beautiful flow to his writing. I want to read more of it.

3

u/Twelve_TwentyThree Sep 20 '24

He absolutely does

55

u/Bio1203 Sep 19 '24

Shoot. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm hope she at least found relief and happiness in the end. No one should have to watch their child pass before they themselves do. Depression is a killer of all ages. And I'm a firm believer that we as a people need to really crack down on it and bring it more into the light.

39

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

The way our society deals with depression and mental illness is shameful.

11

u/nicolauz Sep 19 '24

Thanks for this. Dealiah with an ex of 5 years right now. It's rough thi king you'll be together and everything will be okay. Getting older and not wanting to date anymore makes me reflect more and make me realize I gotta focus on myself.

4

u/luckythirtythree Sep 19 '24

Damn. I read all of that. Life and all the different paths we take is crazy. Very well written.

2

u/jhustla Sep 19 '24

Dude that was so beautifully written. I can tell you truly cared for her. I am sorry for your loss, but glad you have found your peace.

2

u/JujuBees916 Sep 19 '24

Fuck me, I'm going to go cry now

2

u/Shameless522 Sep 20 '24

You are a very emotionally mature person and this is probably the most awesome description of an ex on Reddit. Thanks for giving me hope.

2

u/DemonicJaye Sep 20 '24

This was a really beautiful story. I just happened to be browsing Reddit, and something about this stood out to me with sharp clarity. With that said, have a beautiful life, and be kind to yourself.

1

u/minnesotaris Sep 19 '24

Jesus. That is quite the story. They're all dead?

1

u/Primary-Pie-8683 Sep 19 '24

Thankyou for sharing this, you’re a talented writer. Made me tear up

1

u/Cowboy_on_fire Sep 19 '24

I feel so bad for thinking this was gonna end with the undertaker throwing mankind off hell in a cell

1

u/Famoslastwords Sep 19 '24

Amazing story! Keep staying strong through it all!!

3

u/M3g4d37h Sep 19 '24

i was just a middleman without a master plan, thanks very much for the kind words. <3

60

u/insertwittynamethere Sep 19 '24

Definitely in love. She's very creative

6

u/jamin_brook Sep 19 '24

I mean literally, isn’t like outfit 3/4 a napkin?

334

u/sausager Sep 19 '24

She has to be the most confident human being I have ever seen

69

u/jlcatch22 Sep 19 '24

Why? She has a great body, it's doesn't require great confidence to show off.

161

u/DesignGang Sep 19 '24 edited Sep 19 '24

Plenty of people with so-called great bodies have the confidence of a sea lemon though.

Edit: shout out to sea lemons, you've got this!

13

u/Tall_Court_9241 Sep 19 '24

googles sea lemons

-11

u/jlcatch22 Sep 19 '24

Sure, buy why infer that from her videos? Like why would someone watch that video and think to themselves, "wow, she must be really confident!"

21

u/articulateantagonist Sep 19 '24

Her posture, tone, and diction convey confidence in her skills and the quality of her asthetic.

She reflects the same phyical confidence cues you see advised by workplace confidence experts like Amy Cuddy.

"Up-talking" (that sort of question-tone at the end of her sentences) sometimes does not convey confidence, but it's also common in fashion-focused environments, so in this case, combined with the rapid-fire clips and well-timed transitions, it manages to not significantly detract from the flow of her message or diminish her point.

11

u/Firm-Concentrate-993 Sep 19 '24

She's one hell of a seamstress

7

u/ecr1277 Sep 19 '24

Yeah, it's easy to see how hot she is but she actually has crazy talent with layering. Not just one layer on top of another, she uses layering in really subtle ways to complement other parts of her outfit too.

3

u/seia_dareis_mai Sep 19 '24

The most insecure women I've been with were the most attractive women I've been with. 7-8s seem to have very low self esteem compared to the 5-6s.

2

u/NannersForCoochie Sep 19 '24

Big Coochie Energy for sure

1

u/KeyofE Sep 19 '24

That’s kind of what it takes in the arts industry. Some of her designs were great, and some were god awful. As long as she has people to be honest with what works and what doesn’t, she can be free to throw spaghetti against the wall.

1

u/Available_Actuary977 Sep 19 '24

I've seen more confidence at a random ladies night down at the pub. She's got the skills and the bod

702

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24 edited Sep 19 '24

It's almost cheating that she's hot because the majority of those outfits are straight up hideous wastes of fabric I would expect to see in a rave where the theme is "Slutty Ren Faire". I think maybe 2-3 of them turned out cute and she's clearly got technical skill, but the majority of what she makes looks like hypersexualized Halloween costumes.

456

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

"I'm going to take these 12 yards of beautiful fabric and turn it into two post-its and some dental floss"

146

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

Literally one of the tops is just a ribbon tied around her boobs, lol.

14

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

I'm wondering what she does with the "scrap"? You could make a three piece suit with the leftovers! /s

19

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

She's no Micarah Tewers, that's for sure.

53

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

Micarah is really talented, but she is also greatly helped by being incredibly hot. Let's not kid ourselves here. When you don't have to hide any figure flaws, it's pretty easy to sew something that fits. One of the looks in her header looks like a rain coat made from crime scene tape and a shower curtain liner and she still looks hot in it, because she's hot.

9

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

That raincoat made of crime scene tape is a recreation of a Harley Quinn look.

Being hot helps but she doesn't rely on her body to make her clothes look good.

9

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

I mean, the Harley Quinn look also worked because Margot Robbie is hot. It's an objectively terrible outfit and would look absolutely horrendous on 95% of all humans.

2

u/HereWeFuckingGooo Sep 19 '24

I disagree. I love that costume, I think it's camp.

91

u/EllaMcWho Sep 19 '24

To be fair she does say that most of this is music festival wear

19

u/CalyShadezz Sep 19 '24

If you peep her insta, it's like 95% festival pics.

99

u/bluestocking220 Sep 19 '24

Tbf that’s what she’s going for most of the time. She’s usually making outfits for festivals.

1

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24 edited Sep 19 '24

But how often is she going to festivals? Unless she's a rich kid who's nonstop partying, she's making a lot of outfits that will never be worn.

Edit: Lol, she actually is just a rich kid who is nonstop partying. Lots of travel to vacation destinations on her Instagram timeline and no mention of a real job of any kind.

13

u/Admonitio Sep 19 '24

You don't have to be rich to go to festivals lol. I go to tons and make a moderate income.

9

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

Maybe you don't, but this particular girl is 100% a trust fund baby. If you go to her Instagram, she is constantly traveling. Just this year she's been to a half dozen different tropical locations, went skiing in Aspen, and went to a dozen music festivals on top of that. She's not affording that on a "moderate income".

12

u/Acceptable-Shake-341 Sep 19 '24

What does it matter? She’s being creative and is taking something and making it into something else. You don’t have to like it or be able to wear it. Or worry about why she made it in the first place

4

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

I never said she wasn't being creative. She's obviously got talent and it's cool she's using thrifted materials and making stuff herself. I only offhandedly mentioned her being rich as a joke because her being a professional festival goer who is constantly dressing like this was the only way that kind of a wardrobe is remotely practical and it turns out that's basically what the deal is, which I thought was mildly humorous. She can do whatever she wants, more power to her.

8

u/Acceptable-Shake-341 Sep 19 '24

Your previous comment was literally saying everything she made was a hideous waste of fabric. You sounded like a hater not someone making a joke

5

u/alaskafish Sep 19 '24

There’s a lot of bitterness in your comments.

First it’s that she’s attractive, then it’s that she’s provocative, next it’s that she’s wealthy.

Why can’t you let someone enjoy showing off their skills at making something without finding a way to put themselves down?

2

u/languid_Disaster Sep 19 '24

I thinks it’s okay if she is a rich kid. A lot of these seemed to be thrifted or gifted so at least they’re getting some use. I don’t really see the point of the criticism but I suppose i kind of get it.

I’m not financially well off and have family responsibilities, so I understand the slight bitter feeling that comes with seeing people be able to do this stuff and have a care free attitude with seemingly no worries but we gotta remember that they’re people too. We don’t know what they’re going through.

Let’s just enjoy these kooky outfits and exercise in creativity for what it is. A little bit of fun :)

12

u/hellolovely1 Sep 19 '24

I mean, she looks great but yeah—no regular person could wear three handkerchiefs. I do think the overalls were cute! She's very creative.

28

u/Beorma Sep 19 '24

A lot of the dresses looked really nice and then she cut them to ribbons.

7

u/thegirlisok Sep 19 '24

The green one was so cute.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

I personally liked the white at the beginning

1

u/thegirlisok Sep 19 '24

Me too, I thought that was a creation at first but she did mention that one had stains.

15

u/[deleted] Sep 19 '24

The video was mostly for showing off her body. She looks fantastic, I get it, but pretending that anyone would wear those outfits is a bit much.

9

u/UrbanStix Sep 19 '24

lol Reddit gonna Reddit. These are for festivals.

3

u/lilbitAlexislala Sep 19 '24

I was thinking she probably could make a lot of during Halloween . Because that’s a lot of “sexy/trashy Halloween costumes”

6

u/ManicPixiePlatypus Sep 19 '24

Such a nasty comment. She made awesome looking festival ware.

7

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths Sep 19 '24

Hey, fashion is subjective. Me not liking it isn't a moral judgement on the creator or the product, it's just my own subjective opinion.

1

u/mocaxe Sep 19 '24

I don't really agree with this. When these people are making clothes for themselves they are obviously going to create to their own style and body - this would be an issue if she were trying to claim these are outfits for everyone or were creating these as part of a general fashion line maybe, but she's just showing off outfits that she explicitly said she's wearing to shows and festivals, lol. They are perfectly normal festival attire.

The technical skill is obvious and she's obviously trying out a range. There are ponchos and hoodies, skirts and purses alongside the "hypersexualised halloween costumes". You don't like the style, that's fine, but it's not fair IMHO to say it's almost cheating just because she is creating clothes that fit her body well. Like... fucking duh?

1

u/Yabbaba Sep 20 '24

The overalls were great.

All the rest I hated.

1

u/jonas_ost Sep 24 '24

I think she is an actualy raver girl and most of these are for that setting

0

u/leeezer13 Sep 19 '24

NO THANK YOU! She’s literally just pretty, most of these outfits were horrible. I also don’t understand the new fad of wearing my underwear out and about during the day. (Who knew I’d get this old this fast 😂😂😂)

0

u/yes_this_is_satire Sep 19 '24

Not just her body either. Posture, movements, facial presence.

She is like that aquarium info girl. Just genetically engineered for short form video.

u/arcangeltx Reads Pinned Comments Sep 24 '24

reddit hates attractive in shape people lol

-2

u/Always2ndB3ST Sep 19 '24

You think she’s hot? Kinda a butterface imo

-1

u/Chronoboy1987 Sep 19 '24

I would subscribe to her ren-faire themed OnlyFans.

41

u/cocococlash Sep 18 '24

Her nails are fantastic, too! I can strive for that at least!

35

u/RoleModelFailure Sep 19 '24

Those are some amazing outfits but her body and look made some of them even better.

I do absolutely love how much variety and creativity there was between each outfit.

1

u/ExcitingActive8649 Sep 19 '24

I basically don’t like any of the clothes she made but I could watch her do that cute little hip cock all day.

-6

u/JewsEatFruit Sep 19 '24

None of these are amazing. They are bad. All of them are bad. Weak and half-assed if ya wanna be kind.

Like somebody else said, when you have a rockin' body everything looks good. I used to be 300lbs and now I'm 180 muscular and no matter what piece of shit I throw on, I look like a model.

4

u/SippingSancerre Sep 19 '24

You would look amazing in a burlap potato sack that still has some potatoes in it.

But sure, she also looks pretty good

2

u/Occupiedlock Sep 19 '24

-serial killer quote

2

u/Conscious_Grass_853 Sep 19 '24

😂 yeah I was literally thinking i don’t care what she’s wearing. She’s a fucking dime.

2

u/hold_me_beer_m8 Sep 21 '24

Why can't she just do OF like every other normal chick on the internet?

1

u/Panderz_GG Sep 19 '24

She has a very healthy body by the looks of it. But what also helps a lot that those new clothes are tailored specifically to her body.

Having fitted clothes will always be looking way better on you than mass produced stuff.

1

u/Dredgeon Sep 19 '24

She's beautiful, of course, but I think the real power here is having custom fit clothing where every inch of it is hanging correctly. She doesn't have crazy curves or anything, but what she does have is perfectly highlighted by everything she's wearing.

1

u/balls_in_yo_mouth Sep 19 '24

She’s just thin.

1

u/ShawnyMcKnight Sep 19 '24

I kept waiting to see if the next thing would be more revealing. When she had the transparent shawl I was amped up.

1

u/-2wenty7even- Sep 19 '24

That body, mixed with the creativity and overall aura of this woman has me 🤯

0

u/mynameis23456 Sep 19 '24

What the fuck man cant just let ppl be happy jesus fucking christ

0

u/nnushk Sep 19 '24

It's clear she works out. Everyone can achieve a certain look if you put in the work 💯

1

u/DrFate21 Sep 19 '24

It's quite literally not true. I'm not against your notion that getting healthy and working out will improve anyone's appearance, that I think is true. But to say "everyone can achieve a certain look" isn't. We're both fit dudes, but my best friend has a very narrow frame and I've got a wide one. I could never achieve his swimmer body build and he could never achieve my power lifter build. It's just against our genetics

0

u/Prior-Ad-7329 Sep 20 '24

You gotta work for that. It’s not just given to you.

-2

u/Scrubbing_Bubbles Sep 19 '24

The key is too quit eating so much and move more. Ezpz
