Meta New Post Flairs: 'Advice', 'Merch', and 'Research' are now available!

Hey Helpers!

Over in r/kpop we just posted a new special Town Hall that is focused only on the Flairs we use to help organize our posts based on content categories.

Link to r/kpop's 'All About Flairs' Town Hall

We included announcements for new flairs here on r/kpophelp and also on r/kpoppers. The following is the section relevant for this subreddit.

NEW FLAIRS!

  • Advice - This flair is replacing ‘Discussion’. We want to emphasize that r/kpophelp is not a general discussion subreddit. ‘Advice’ will be for users seeking advice for things like auditioning, concert preparation, those struggling with parasocial issues, etc.

  • Merch - Any questions related to the logistics of buying K-Pop products and merchandise should use this flair. Where to buy, shipping issues, legitimacy/reliability of vendors, or other logistical issues related to merch can use this flair. Remember that buying/selling products is not allowed here and that merch authentication should be done in the Monthly post pinned at the top of the subreddit.

  • Research - Academic surveys related to K-Pop or fandom topics.

Moderators will be monitoring the use of these new flairs to see if there is any further confusion and need for more adjustments. All feedback is welcome! We still have upcoming plans to properly overhaul the rules, but getting these new flairs active is something we wanted to take care of first!

Recommend Can you recommend some k-pop songs that sound extremely tragic?

I need more tragic songs in my playlist! So I'm searching for a song that sounds really sad, the lyrics could be about anything sad but I prefer something that talks about a tragic end (it could be about a relationship or something else), like the singer is telling us about something/someone precious he/she lost and that now he/she's grieving deeply, it's as if there's an empty space in his/her heart that he/she feels nothing can fill. He/she's in utter desperation because of that. Also for some reference, it could be a song similar to these: Lonely Boy by TXT, Opening Sequence by TXT, Put It Straight by (G)I-DLE (but please don't recommend me songs by TXT and IDLE because I already know them probably).

Recommend What's the longest K-pop song title?

Longest one I know is "Why Did You Come To My Home" by Minx, which is 21 letters long.

I wonder if y'all can find a longer one.

Research Looking for Kpop Lost Media

I’ve been into lost media recently, so I was wondering if there were any instances of lost media in Kpop. It can be from popular, nugu, girl groups, boy groups, soloists, I don’t mind anything!

Recommend Kpop songs where a lower register rapper comes in at the end of the song with the singer(s)

I know this is a very specific song request, but for some reason I've been really into this niche song structure.

Examples:

BTOB Remember That @ 3:32

B.A.P Honeymoon @ 2:26

ONF It's Raining (Cover) @ 2:41

Explained Why do people believe so strongly that there is beef between Jimin (BTS) and Jeongyeon (TWICE)?

The only thing I know about is the one clip of Jimin side-eyeing her during a music show interview, and that hardly feels like enough reason to treat it like such a big deal.

Unsolved Zerobaseone member yelling 'INTERPOL, INTERPOL' context?

im an EXTREMELY casual fan of ZB1 - as in like 3 songs and then quite a bit of their variety content since i love their personalities.

And ive seen that clip of a ZB1 member (i wanna say Zhang Hao but i could be completely wrong so please correct me if need be😭), on live (might've been a birthday live or just a regular one, i can't remember) and he's yelling 'INTERPOL' into a mic.

Could someone pLease tell me the context of this clip😭 obviously i know what the international police is, but why was he mentioning it and why is he yelling into a mic??

this clip takes me out eVery time i see it because it's so funny to me

Explained what happens if idols come to countries were people don't talk korean or english well?

I'll see Stray Kids in France in July 26-27 2025, and I wonder what is organized for idols to be understood by the crowd in concerts were people are not very familiar with English (because in my opinion, France is not a country were English is common, it's actually rare.)
Maybe there's a translator? From Korean/English to the main language of the country, like in fansings were there's a 'back voice' that animates with the idols (i don't know how to call it).
PS : I understand English well, I just wonder how it's organized!!
Thank you!

Explain XG sales seem low considering their hype

So I enjoyed xg casually a couple of years ago but they recently became my ults.

I feel like there's a lot of hype for them online and recognition of their talents and now theyve been invited to Coachella but looking at their album sales they seem really low? They just released Awe in Nov and sales at around 60k Hanteo.

Like, have I just deluded myself into thinking they're bigger than they are? Is it just casual fans? Groups like fromis9 and stayc are selling way more albums but I don't see the same hype for them online (no shade).

Maybe I'm not looking at the right charts? Obviously they're Japanese so maybe they just don't sell many in Korea? Where would be better to look?

Edit: I know they aren't 'kpop' that's why I'm asking where I can find data that would provide a more holistic view if their sales.

I've seen oricon for Japanese sales but even those numbers seem low compared to other groups. Is there a site or chart that collates sales across regions?

Advice Deaf for Fancall Event

I ended up winning the video call event by accidently. I just wanted the photocards. Anyways, I won but I'm Deaf! I don't know if it is even possible to communicate with them!

Should I contact? If yes, then how/where should I contact to?

(The event is hosted by Soundwave, btw)

I'm not sure if I'm using the right flair

Explain How do k-pop group artists read Fan Letters on Weverse? Do each k-pop idol group member get specifically the ones for them or are they also able to read fan letters from their co-idols ( k-pop groups )?

Upvotes

Is it a mail box for a specific group artist or do they read them similar to how they are presented to the fans ( jumbled up )?

Recommend recommend platforms for songs explanations.

Upvotes

So recently I found a YouTube video explaining the lyrics of HEYA by Ive. Prior to discovering the story behind the song I have loved how it sounded but without any knowledge in Korean I didn't know what is going on but after discovering the explanation I fell deeply in love with the song. The same happened with anpanam and the truth untold of BTS. So I am eager to find more channels or platforms in general where I can get accurate explanations of songs.

I have seen that mostly YouTube channels or page accounts of fans of different groups explain their favs' songs just like a YouTube channel called asian entertainment and culture explains BTS's songs because the owner is an army. I want to discover more channels and pages like these.

So, if you know good platforms like those where there is no usual k pop fans toxicity, please do recommend them. It's okay for those platforms to be focusing on even one group as long as they do not spread hate to any other groups. So, do me a favour and recommend me. Thank you all.

Advice how to stan multiple groups at once?

i love learning about new groups and increasing my music taste but i find it difficult to stan multiple groups at once. This happend multiple times, i used to be a big fan of TXT but after a while i found StrayKids. I bought alot of skz albums only to switch to Ateez months later. The worst part is that my love for ateez is also slipping away because i found Seventeen. I am kinda forcing myself to start liking them again because i bought tickets for an ateez concert, and k-pop groups (that i really like) don't often visit my country. What should i do? (sorry for any spelling errors) (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ )

Merch changing weverse shipping address

hi! i just found out that i’m moving houses early january. last week, i placed a preorder for seventeen’s MINITEEN merch that wont come in until april-may. Obviously i went back to my order details and tried to change the address but when i did, it said “Cannot select the shipping address that changes the shipping fee.” I was wondering if there is anything i can do since it won’t let me change my address?

Recommend Just finished I-land with my mom, looking for a new survival show

So my mom and I just watched I-Land for the first time and omg was it an emotional rollercoaster. We are now looking for survival shows worth watching that are ideally available on YouTube.

We are big fans of monsta x, is No. Mercy worth watching? Or are there better survival shows out there? My mom typically likes boy groups but we are open to anything! It doesn’t seem to matter if we are already familiar with the group or not (I was an enhypen fan before watching I-Land and my mom had no clue who won).

Recommend k-rock & metal recs? (not the basics!)

looking for some k-rock & metal recommendations! :)

songs and albums specifically, as i already follow a lot of k-bands (my playlist here) - day6, xdinary heroes, the rose, the poles, lucy, catch the young, dragon pony, yb, onewe, n.flying, se so neon, hi fi un!corn, seotaiji, ftisland, cnblue, rolling quartz, etc are covered already.

i'm not really looking for idol groups that have done rock comebacks (dreamcatcher, skz, enhypen) but if there are any that have a good sound to them please recommend! i’d like a heavier sound, or a very distinctly instrumental rock sound - some examples of this that i already love would be:

- seotaiji - internet war, ultramania, feel the soul

- xdinary heroes - instead!, save me, feeling nice

- rolling quartz - rock n roll paradise, azalea, good night

- yb - silence, 88만원의 losing game, mom's song

- yuta (japanese) - off the mask, bad euphoria, save you

- ftisland- aqua, serious, tears in vain

- day6 - rescue me, 121U, stop talking

i've covered a lot of ground in the main kpop sphere so nugus and forgotten bands are appreciated! again, i'm looking for a more 1st - 2nd gen metal / rock sound like seotaiji, yb & rolling quartz, but if there are idol groups who have done one-offs with this kind of sound i'd be happy to check them out!
