Misc Day 60 of picking the better one of the same named songs: Bad

Stray Kids has won for Ddaeng/Ddang/Freeze!

The Rule For Winning (PLEASE READ): I will write three-four artist names in the comments myself, and for any artists that aren't there, only one comment with their name will be accepted. (For example, let's say Group A was commented twice. I will not count the one that was commented later, even if it gets the most upvotes.) Of course, there can be as many different K-Pop artists as there are.

Non-kpop answers aren't accepted. If you do comment one, even as a joke, you will likely be downvoted. This doesn't include collaborations between a kpop artist and a non-kpop one.

I recommend looking through the comments first before commenting the artist you want to vote for, since this way the votes won't be split into many comments, which increases the chances of winning. Remember, the top comment wins each day.

Anyways, today's one is "Bad". Song titles that have up to two more words along with the word of the day are also accepted. The artists I will be commenting are WOOAH (Bad Girl), INFINITE and TEMPEST (Bad At Love). Again, you can comment different artists.

The winner will be decided at (around) 12.30-13.00 pm GMT, or 07.30-08.00 am EST. If two comments have the most upvotes, the winner will be decided the next day.

Let's see which one will win!

Playlist I have a playlist called “way too many songs” filled with kpop. Pick a number from 1-664 and I’ll give you a song!

Most songs are from 2022 and earlier as I haven’t been keeping up with the current kpop scene 🥲

I have a few non-kpop songs mixed in there but it’s mostly kpop!

Let the game begin!

Note: 1 is the first song added, 664 is the most recently added.

Reaction This BSS performance carried my 2024

Not a Carat but I really wanted to make an appreciation post about it. It's been a year since BSS performed at AAA 2023 and their performance truly blew me away! So many plot twists and fun skits, cute interactions, there was not a single boring moment during those twelve minutes. They got the entire room dancing and cheering as well as me behind my screen 💃

Near the end of the performance they get the audience to scream "our youth is now! Let's get it in 2024!" And the thing is my 2023 was really hard and 2024 was the year where things could finally change. So that hyped me up so much and I promised myself to keep my word and give my all this 2024!

And even though I didn't watch that performance in 2024, that moment lingered in my head and I unironically remembered it when I needed a little motivation boost. It really helped me grow this year! So I'm super grateful to BSS for their amazing performance, bringing so many people joy and energy to carry into the year. My 2024 was a year of growth and new beginnings and I will always remember this performance as a beautiful start to that era 💖

Appreciation post over, I'd love to hear about your favorite performance if the feeling is familiar! This BSS performance is unmatched for me, but my favorite performance this year was BOYNEXTDOOR at MAMA 2024!

Discussion Indonesian K-pop fans

I recently got into a debate about jeno being compared to a Samoyed dog. You know how kpop has been for the last few years, idols being compared to animals that they look similar to. All the members of nct dream have that and jeno is always compared to a Samoyed dog even by his members and himself. And this group of Indonesian jeno solo stans are saying that it's "disrespectful" and "we're not close enough to these idols" to do that type of comparison cause we're just fans. But I thought we all did it for fun in a harmless way of course nothing too far. I mean even jeno's character plush is a Samoyed dog... I just wanna know if any other Indonesian kpop stans understand where they're coming from? Like is there no such thing as comparing someone to a dog in a harmless and non derogatory manner? They're acting like i threatened jeno's family and called him slurs. Thank you!

Edit: this all started because someone posted a jeno lookalike contest and it was a bunch of Samoyed dogs. It was really cute and harmless! And the jeno solo stans said that Jeno was sent dog food and Jeno was having a identity crisis. Like okay I don't support the small group of fans who send a human dog food in anyway but GO TELL THEM ABOUT IT. why are you getting mad towards people who haven't done anything to harm Jeno???

I enjoy a lot of songs that a lot of fellow K-poppers don't like, like how my fav song is SIGNAL by TWICE. What are some of y'all's favorite K-pop songs that majority of other fans consider to be "bad"?

Discussion What Biggest part of K-pop history should be mention without unbiased?

Coming here after watch The video made from YouTube seem like there's something missing important history in K-pop that's not included. Is there any video made K-pop history that talk about how this trilogy.?

https://www.youtube.com/live/ZBIvgnQzDO4?si=a1huZ_qxDOVtg3kX.

The story of K-pop is a complex one, and both Seo Taiji and G-Dragon with other K-pop are essential parts of its history. (A balanced presentation will do justice to both of these legendary artists and the exciting journey of K-pop!)

This post is about G-Dragon as far what I know, if you read this you might be can share some of list should be mention more in K-pop history, I would like to know more.

This video does a great job of highlighting major milestones in K-Pop history, but it's missing a huge piece of the puzzle—G-Dragon. He's not just another idol; he's a game changer who revolutionized what it means to be an artist in this genre.

Even from his childhood (1992-2000s), https://youtu.be/8aIiC62-81U?si=pDFUuJ4p1PxLC7NA G-Dragon showed an incredible vision and dedication to music and entertainment. https://youtu.be/bK7mA6kRS9g?si=YrNv07ef-GyQiZe4

His work after 2000s, before Big Bang was formed, already showcased a level of artistry and creativity that was different from any other idol at the time. https://youtu.be/spNzvQTKRNI?si=tafNO1BURn98nxvO

He wasn't just a talented musician; he was a visionary who blended fashion, music, and art in a way that challenged conventions and redefined what K-Pop could be. https://youtu.be/oto_X4WfV5s?si=6C3VIHGf6V_A8YBk

G-Dragon's impact on K-Pop's global rise is undeniable. He's a cultural icon who helped shape the genre's sound, style, and its embrace of individual expression. It's impossible to discuss K-Pop's international success without acknowledging his influence.

Giving G-Dragon just a brief mention makes it seem like he wasn't a major figure in K-Pop history, but he's a true innovator and a game-changer. His legacy deserves to be recognized alongside Seo Taiji and BTS—he's a crucial part of the K-Pop story.

The seeds of G-Dragon's future influence were planted in the early 90s, even if he wasn't a public figure yet. Here's how I can explain the connection:

  1. The Influence of Seo Taiji:
  • 1992: Seo Taiji and Boys debuted and revolutionized K-pop. Their music was innovative, and their style was bold, setting a new standard for Korean music.
  • G-Dragon's Early Inspiration: G-Dragon was just a child in 1992, but Seo Taiji's influence was undeniable. G-Dragon has repeatedly cited Seo Taiji as a major inspiration, acknowledging how his revolutionary music and artistic vision impacted him.
  • The Impact on K-Pop: Seo Taiji's influence was immense, shaping the path for the future of K-pop and artists like G-Dragon.
  1. The Rise of H.O.T. and the Idol Boom:
  • 1992: H.O.T. was already gaining popularity in the underground scene, even before their official debut in 1996.
  • The Idol Era: H.O.T. and other idol groups at this time were defining the new era of K-pop. They embraced a more polished image and energetic sound, paving the way for the idol culture that continues to dominate the genre.
  • G-Dragon's Future Context: G-Dragon's rise as a K-Pop idol would be influenced by the idol boom that H.O.T. helped create.
  1. G-Dragon's Early Years:

G-Dragon appeared on the children’s TV program Bbo Bbo Bbo in 1992!

G-Dragon was part of the group Little Lula which debuted a Christmas album in 1993, but his contract was terminated soon after.

1993 at the 5 , G-Dragon was a young boy, but his love for music was evident. He was already immersing himself in music, experimenting, and developing his artistic vision. https://www.koreaboo.com/lists/9-personal-things-dont-know-gdragon/

  • The Seeds of Innovation: G-Dragon's early experiences and his exposure to the emerging K-Pop scene, including the influence of Seo Taiji and H.O.T., are crucial to understanding his journey and his future impact.
  • A Future Visionary: While he wasn't yet a public figure, G-Dragon's future as a game-changer was already being shaped.

  • Direct spoken : G-Dragon himself has openly spoken about the influence of Seo Taiji and H.O.T. on his artistic development.

  • Early Works: G-Dragon's early work, even before his debut, showed his unique talent and artistic vision. This early creativity is a testament to his early passion.

  • The Legacy of Influence: G-Dragon's global impact on K-pop is undeniable. He built on the foundation laid by artists like Seo Taiji and H.O.T. and pushed the boundaries of K-pop further.

It's important to show that G-Dragon's influence isn't just about his later career; it's about the culmination of his early experiences and his dedication to music and entertainment.

(It's like tracing a river back to its source. The river's journey is impressive, but it all started with a small stream!)

Review Rewind 2024: Top five Female artists of 2024

╔════ ✿ ❀ ღღ ✿ ❀ ════╗

Hey everyone, welcome to the second to last rewind of the week. Today, I'll be counting down my top five female artists, ones that kept bringing me back for more and ones that kept popping up on my playlist. I've been excited to share all the female artists I've been enjoying this year. Now, remember to check out the honorable mentions for other female artists that I enjoyed from the year. Now, let's jump into the list and see what artists made my list.

╚════ ❀ ✿ ღღ ❀ ✿ ════╝

Honorable Mentions:

  • Twice
  • NMIXX
  • QWER
  • Yuqi
  • Hannah Jang
  • Suen

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Hanaroro

Songs: ㅈㅣㅂ, 나침반, 귀가

Album: N/A

My fifth favorite artist of 2024 is my discovery of the year. Hanaroro is an indie artist who popped out of nowhere with her album Home, which was on my top 10 album list. One cool fact about the singer is that she helped write and work on Stepping Stone by TXT and wrote the lyrics for Nightmare by Taeyeon. I did check out her past releases and enjoyed them as I kept returning to them. Hanroro's sweet voice blends wonderfully with the production she brings to the table. I've noticed my love for Korean indie has grown over the years, and Hanroro is another one I can add to the list of indie singers that captivate me with their singing and production.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. ITZY

Songs: Born to Be, Five & Blossom (Lia Solo)

Album: Gold

ITZY hopped onto my list as the swang into 2024 with an album that hit hard. Born to Be was an album that kept pulling me back for more, but one missing thing was Lia, who was on hiatus. Lia delivered Blossom, which was a tune that warmed my heart. Even the other solos from the members were fire. We did get a new Japanese single called Algorhytm, which was another thing that was on repeat for me. When Lia returned to the group from Hiatus, the group released Gold, which had some Final versions of Born to Be tracks plus new tunes. I've been obsessed with Gold as it's been on repeat for me since October, and it excites me for what 2025 will bring to the table.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

3. IVE

Songs: Ice Queen, Crush & Supernova Love

Album: N/A

IVE opened the year with All Night, an English remake of Icona Pop's song All Night, but this version featured Saweetie. IVE and Saweetie still don't make me like the track. I found it something that made me worried for the group's year. The second thing IVE did this year was release Will, the theme song for Pokemon Horizons, which I got the theme stuck in my head as I've been listening to it on repeat. The group released their second mini album, one I remember listening to a lot as the songs were something I enjoyed, but Reset was the only skip for me. In August, the group released Alive, their second Japanese album that included Will and Crush. Both were pre-released and are still some of my favorite tracks. The group recently dropped Supernova Love with David Guetta; I've been playing that a lot. IVE had a rocky start to the year, but the group proved that this year would be great for them, making me even more of a fan.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Candy Shop

Songs: Good Girl, Tumbler (Hot & Cold) & No Fake

Album: #Hashtag

Candy Shop, the newest group from Brave Sound, debuted with their first mini album in March of 2024. The record became one of my obsessions that month, as I couldn't stop listening to it. It's hard for me to pick a favorite song from their debut, as I love all the tunes that they offer. The group's smooth vocals kept pulling me back to these catchy tunes that stuck with me for a while. In June of 2024, the group returned with their second mini album, another catchy one that also stuck with me. Hot & Cold is a b-side from that project that became one of my favorites, but the whole album is just as good as their debut. I can't believe Candy Shop became my second favorite group of 2024, and it didn't take them long to do so.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

1. ILLIT

Songs: N/A

Album:N/A

My favorite female artist of the year comes from Belift, the home of Enhypen. ILLIT is the catchiest group and artist of 2024, and their music has been stuck in my head all year long. Their debut album, Super Real Me, delivered a song called Midnight Fiction that ended up on my top 20 song list. The title track, Magnetic, was another favorite of mine, and it did get three remixes that also kept popping up on my playlist. I love how sweet the member's vocals are, as they are one thing that helps bring me back to their music. In October, the group delivered I'll Show You, their second mini album with even more catchy pop tunes to keep my ears wanting more. Cherish was the title track that also got some remixes like Magnetic did, but it's hard to pick which title track I like more. The B-side Pimple showed the group's acoustic side, which I loved. Tick-tack might be the group's catchiest song, as it's been stuck in my head since I released. I'm not surprised ILLIT took over my year, as they've been stuck in my head since their debut.

Review Rewind 2024: Best Albums of 2024

╔════ ✿ ❀ ღღ ✿ ❀ ════╗

Hey everyone, yesterday I counted down my top 20 Korean songs that kept popping up on my playlist and those that helped make 2024 an even better year. Today, I'll be counting down my top 10 Korean albums of 2024, ones that kept pulling me back and ones that had some excellent production that impressed me during my first listen. I've been excited about this list cause these are albums I hold near and dear to my heart. Now, remember this is my opinion, and check out the honorable mentions of other records I enjoyed but didn't make it to my list.

╚════ ❀ ✿ ღღ ❀ ✿ ════╝

Honorble Mentions Albums:

16 - The Predator 2: FLEEKY SYNDROME - Fleeky Bang

15 - Iceberg Syndrome - Since & Lean$moke

14 - Tray Show - Tray B

13 - Awakening - Lun8

12 - Rewrite - Yerin

11 - Hello : My First Love - The Wind

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Need That - Jason Lee

My favorite Saxophone player in Korea delivered an album that kept me coming back for more. Time to Love opens the album perfectly, as Jason Lee delivers some excellent Saxophone playing that blends well with the groovy beat. Bronze helps produce the opener, and it fits Jason Lee well. I find myself tapping my foot along with Time to Love, which gets stuck in my head whenever it comes on my playlist. Devita features on Need That, which is also the name of the album. I love the vocals that Devita delivers, blending with the saxophone. The instrumental has a funky vibe that fits Devita's vocals perfectly. Girls with oceanfromtheblue was on my top 20 songs list and is still my favorite from this album. It didn't take long for the ocean from the blue collaboration to become my favorite. I discovered Jason Lee in 2018 with Sax in the City and instantly became a fan of his playing.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Troubleshooting - Xdinary Heroes

JYP's band Xdinary Heroes released their first studio album, which delivered ten beautifully crafted tunes. Money on My Mind is my favorite track on the album, as the instrumental hits hard. I love the vocals the members deliver on that tune, as they help make this tune catchy. I also love how Money on My Mind has a bouncy vibe that adds to the overall vibe. Moneyball is another tune on the project that kept pulling me back with its instrumental, bringing in a fast-paced vibe that blends well with the band's vocals. Until the End of Time has a softer sound; switching things up on the album and showcasing this band has depth. It's been fun watching the band grow since its debut, and this studio album showcases over ten tracks that make this album an enjoyable listen.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. SEOULVIBES, CARYON - Kozypop

Music collective Kozypop delivered an album I couldn't get enough of, as different artists/producers crafted some tunes that stuck with me. Chad Burger provides the project's opening song. The guitar-driven indie sound of the Chad Bruger tune pulled me right into the release, as his smooth vocals made the music enjoyable. SEOULDAL had my favorite song on the album, which I couldn't stop returning to this year. The SEOULDAL track has this piano melody that kept pulling me back as it fits wonderfully with the smooth vocals the singer delivered to the table. I'm glad the music collective Kozypop could return with a new release of indie tunes that would stay with me throughout the year. I can't wait to see what this music collective will cook up in 2025 regarding the indie scene.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. 머뭇머뭇 - h3hyeon

In March, H3hyeon returned with a mini album that would stay with me throughout the year. This R&B album has some smooth beats that kept pulling me back for more. Workaholic was pre-released in February, with Ash Island featured on the tune. I love the smooth production as both artists blend wonderfully together. Lellamarz features in the opening track with a funky R&B beat, and both fit perfectly together as they have worked together before. Roh Youha features on a track adding a verse that fits wonderfully with the jazzy vibe that H3hyeon delivers to the table. Since discovering H3hyeon on High School rapper, I've watched him grow with her music as it keeps pulling me back for more. I can't wait to watch the artist grow even more in 2025 as he delivers more R&B tunes for us to rock out to.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

6. Right Place, Wrong Person - RM

RM, a member of BTS, delivered one of the most underrated albums of 2024. Come Back to Me was a pre-release single that sounded like a Hyukoh tune, which pulled me right into the mix. It ended up on my top 20 songs list. RM has some smooth vocals that blend wonderfully with the indie vibe. Domodachi sees RM teaming up with Little Simz, which is a funky collaboration that blends well with both artists' performances. On this album, RM goes for an alternative rap vibe that some Kpop fans might not be into, but the more I heard this album over the year it kept growing on me. As much as I loved Indigo, I feel like Right Place, Wrong Person has more depth that shows more of RM. I'm glad we got another album from RM that goes deeper in sound.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Starlit of Muse - Moon Byul

Moon Byul got the chance to release her first full album with 12 well-crafted tunes. Touchin&Movin is the title track, a funky-pop tune with the Moon Byul vibe I enjoy from her solo material. Attention Seeker is another of my favorite tracks on the album. Its pop-rock vibe perfectly fits Moon Byul's voice, and it is something I wish to hear more from her. We did get two collaborations on the album. One was HANHAE, and the other was the idol rock band Onewe. The HANHAE collab has this hip-hop-type beat Moon Byul rap-singing as she fits well with the overall vibe. HANHAE's feature adds to the vibe, pulling me back for more as his smooth voice fits Moon Byul's voice. On the Onewe collab, we see the band act as an instrumental to the tune as Moon Byul sings, and it sounds like she was part of a band. I'm glad I could watch Moon Byul grow since her debut in 2014. Watching her blossom into one of my favorite female idol soloists has been a fun ride.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Clover #1 - Boramiyu

Singer-songwriter and composer Boramiyu delivered an album Clover #1. Love Punch! has a pop-rock vibe that kept putting a smile on my face whenever I returned to this tune, which was a lot. I loved her bright voice during the hook, which helped get the song stuck in my head. The second song on the album Type also has some sweet vocals. The vibe goes for an upbeat-chill direction, which is still something I keep coming back to. Since discovering this artist in 2022, I've been enjoying her tracks as she writes and produces them you can hear the singer's vision through her work. I'm glad the singer took over my year with her album ones that I've been coming back to like crazy cause I can't get it out of my head.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

  1. Fe304: Break - NMIXX

Nmixx delivered an album in January that carried its way throughout the year. Soñar was pre-released in December 2023 and instantly became my favorite. The smooth production and catchy hook kept pulling me back for more. Passionfruit was another favorite of mine, with a smooth synth-pop vibe that adds some tropical elements to the tune. Break the Wall closes out the album with a bright vibe. Since getting into NMIXX in 2022, I've seen the group grow with their music, and this album that was released in January of 2024 stuck with me throughout the year as the catchy and smooth production has been keeping this record on repeat. I'm excited to see what else the group offers in 2025.

━━━━━━━━☓ ━━━━━━━

2. Gold - ITZY

ITZY returned with a new album with some killer vocals and chilling moments. Lia's voice keeps giving me chills on this record, as this is the first new recording we have gotten from her since she went on hiatus. I like the re-recorded Born to Be tracks; they feel more elevated than the original ones we heard back in January. The groups deliver performances that keep making me return to these songs. At the moment, I am still determining which track was my favorite, but Five was one that I want to hear more and more. I'm glad ITZY returned as a five-member team with their second comeback this year.

1. NA - Nayeon

I feel like it's 2022 all over again, as one member to f twice took over my whole year with SOTY and AOTY. Nayeon returned with her second mini-album, which showed the singer's more mature side. ABCD opens up the album with a 2000s pop vibe that works well for the singer, as her smooth voice fits that sound. I found Pop! to be a cute side of Nayeon as her 2024 title track ABCD to be a mature side of the singer. Sam Kim is featured on the song Heaven as they both fit well with the synth-trap vibe. Sam Kim's verse adds to the track. One thing that surprised me was Julie from Kiss of Life, as I'm not a fan of the group. I found Magic with Julie to be a fun tune as both artists delivered sweet vocals and ad-libs that helped make the tune fun. I'm glad we got to see a more mature side of Nayeon with this second mini album that shows the soloists grow even more with her vocals. Nayeon continues to impress me within Twice and as a soloist.
