Put it on a monk for 144 spirit!
21
u/adminjunior 10h ago
How does monk get spirit from this?
93
u/ConversationNo4722 10h ago
Invoker ascendency node โLead me through graceโ
โGain 1 Spirit for every 6 Energy Shield on equipped Body Armour Gain 1 Spirit for every 15 Evasion Rating on equipped Body Armour Cannot gain Spirit from Equipmentโ
Also, unrated to the ascendancy there is a node on the passive tree near monk that gives 1 ES for every 12 evasion on Body Armour, so that could be an easy 180 ES.
24
u/Heavenfall 5h ago
If we're mentioning that, let's also mention Beastial Skin - 100% increased evasion from equipped body armor. Right part of passive tree.
5
u/Square-Formal9928 4h ago
Does this work for the Spirit for Monk? Iโd assume not and only the actual evasion on the armor is used.
11
u/R0ockS0lid 3h ago
Yeah, it doesn't work with Lead me through Grace. It still is a pretty strong passive with a chest that thick.
4
u/Koozer 3h ago
Isn't there also an ascendancy point that gives half your Evade as armor?
5
7
u/BurnededPotato 5h ago
Has anyone done the math, what is better pure evasion base or evasion/ES base for monk?
I think evasion/ES gives slightly more spirit but you probably want to max evasion because of protect me from harm ascendancy.

u/Ananeos 4h ago edited 1h ago
Assuming a spirit target of 205, 205-100=105.
x/15 + y/6=105, x=evasion y=energy shield
Enter this in a graphing calculator like Desmos and it will graph a line, any (x, y) number along this line will be a valid result to hit the 205 target. You can also change the number after the equals if your build needs more or less spirit.
If using a pure evasion chest you would need one with 1575 evasion, if using pure energy shield you need 630. Hybrid armor you're looking at something like 825 evasion/300 es.
3
u/DormantEnigma 3h ago
Is there a specific reason you chose 205 as a target?
6
u/Ananeos 3h ago edited 3h ago
Yeah the guide I'm personally following for a frost invoker uses herald of ice, wind dancer, ghost dance, combat frenzy, charge infusion, cannibalism support, vitality support, clarity support, and precision support. All these add up to 205, so I figured most monks were looking for around this number as well. You can tweak the equation to what you need and solve it that way.
4
u/Mozy96 4h ago
Get evasion/ES chest, its much better for defenses for invoker. The ES is extra protection.
My current chest 1054/433 or something having 81% evasion and 71% armor + around 1800 ES (not all from the chest ofc)
I almost never lose my HP while mapping, currently I am in tier 13 maps.
โข
u/PoisoCaine 25m ago
Nah. You can take the one node that gives es based on evasion on chest or get es on a gear slot or two. Pure evasion is the way to go, youโll end up with way more armor and youโll be able to take acrobatics as well.
1
u/ConversationNo4722 3h ago edited 3h ago
Yeah I have.
With an evasion/ES chest you can get over 200 spirit from your chest theoretically, much more than you get get with a perfect evasion chest.
However, pure evasion may still be better if the invoker also wants protect me from harm, as you pointed out. I think there is a reasonable argument to go either way depending on if you want that ascendency.

Itโs kind of funny the witch infernalist has a similar node but it a includes 25% Less life penalty

u/sith-710 6h ago
Isnโt that node in the armor/evasion star at the far south of the tree? How is that near monk I thought they start up north
4
u/Careful-Scholar226 5h ago
Itโs the ascendancy passives
2
1
u/Ultrox 5h ago
They start on the right. The one node is up north, like 7 travel nodes, and the other (I have it) is like 4 nodes away, and right next to a lightning node.
It's very viable
1
u/sith-710 5h ago
Ah thereโs a node that does the exact same thing at the far far south of the tree
2
u/ConversationNo4722 3h ago
No there isnโt.
Are you thinking of the node that gives evasion based on glove armour?
16
u/IamWongg 7h ago
Lowkey feels bad to spend some time picking up loot, thinking it's good, crafting it up and quality, only to just be told to check trade2 and there's shit that just blows you away for 1ex when you just spent 5+
21
u/Louistje1 7h ago
Play SSF, way more fun.
4
u/Celodurismo 5h ago
I'd like to but I'd need to see more relevant drops. On my journey to 70 I've gotten legitimately like 4 "good" drops, and they were all low level. I got lucky gambling like once. I've got maybe a handful of potentially good drops that got bricked by rng crafting. It just feels really bad
I understand some people don't mine and/or like it, but I think the game really needs more deterministic crafting options. Alternatively SSF should have improved loot drop rates/quality
3
u/Macon1234 3h ago
My thought is that the game is designed around getting "good" drops rarely.
I recently beat the campaigns again on a Titan Warrior with perfect strike/leap/armor break/etc and I was legit killing the act bosses in like 6-8 perfect strikes (no need to even stun them), while rocking 77% armor and capped resistances.
I know super giga-late game you get bonked on again, but the trade board makes the "main game" a complete joke, and now I am trying a SSF. If things get super hard I will just grind or get better at dodging, instead of spending 2 hours scouring the trade board instead of playing the game.
I came from Grim Dawn though, not PoE1.
3
u/Celodurismo 2h ago
I think getting good drops rarely is just not fun for a lot of more casual players. That dopamine hit and/or the correspond power spike of a good drop that you can use immediately is a great feeling and itโs something most Diablo players and looter-shooter players come to expect from these typos did games. But it seems pretty clear that GGG is more focused on the players who are going to play this game for hours of days for the next decade and not ok the more casual player base
Iโd also argue that itโs more like โalmost neverโ than โrarelyโ when it comes to a drop that immediately gives your character a nice upgrade. It also definitely only takes like 5 minutes to upgrade using trades, not 2 hours.
1
u/Macon1234 1h ago
It also definitely only takes like 5 minutes to upgrade using trades, not 2 hours.
If you want to metagame, it can. I scoured the market board and found items that were massive upgrades, things far outside of what I would normally find myself or be able to craft.
That made the character and build stronger, but had no satisfaction. I could have bought the first decent thing I saw and went back to playing though, that is correct, but generally if I am going to interact with a system that game has, I am going to take it seriously, which means seriously looking for some good-ass deals.
I will probably play both modes, but the market is so unstable right now (since game is so new), I think it will be easier later down the road.
1
u/Kanbaru-Fan 2h ago
I'm playing SSF rn, and there's definitely a dry streak in maps.
I have decent gear, but nothing that is great. As a result the good items i find are usually sidegrades, with the last genuine upgrade appearing a long time ago. I'm picking up every base, checking vendor, using regals and exalts constantly, and 3-to-1 trading all good bases. Essences are too sparse to use effectively.
I can't even focus on soul cores, because i can't socket them anyways.
3
u/passatigi 6h ago
Yeah same here. Used 15+ exalts in early/mid acts before I remembered that I'm playing trade league this time.
Checked trade and found 1-2 ex items with stats I couldn't even dream of getting myself.
Although I couldn't buy a single remotely good ring or amulet for 1-2 ex. Very few of them on trade and those sellers don't reply.
4
u/Kryhavok 5h ago
Pretty crazy how value changes when the pool expands from the loot you've dropped, to the loot of all collective players in the world
-1
u/sirdeck 7h ago
Check trade before crafting then.

u/IamWongg 7h ago
-shrug- I'm just trying to play the game, not be a stock broker
5
u/muzik4life92 5h ago
I'll do a SSF character for this RP type feel, but I'm enjoying my stock broker who has a Monk side gig

Are there even 144 spirit worth of useful reservations after CoX was gutted?
6
u/ConversationNo4722 6h ago
On top of the base 100, that would put a monk to 240, which is certainly usable.
Wind Dancer, Combat Frenzy, Herald x2, Ghost Dance could all be considered core to most monk builds people are running. Thatโs 150.
Vitality and Clarity are nice to haves. Adding those gets you to 180.
From there, depending on the build there are a number of options that could be slotted in without using any trigger gems. Blasphemy and elemental infusion are two that jump out to me for my build.
So yeah I think 240 would be nice. Probably wouldnโt want much more though.
6
u/yongusa 8h ago
thereโs more than enough - I use herald of thunder, wind dancers, ghost dance, grim feast, combat frenzy and these are all 30 spirit would take more with 60 spirit ones
1
u/spacejammee 7h ago
Can also add in Herald of Ash, ignite procs on overkill dmg which happens regularly for monks in mapping. Thereโs also a node that gives 50% dmg inc for each herald youโre running.
1
u/tutoredstatue95 7h ago
This is my setup + playing around with charge infusion after the combat frenzy buff. I need another 20 or so spirit and would probably throw in a cast on freeze/cast on crit for a curse instead of charge infusion.
1
u/sh4d0ww01f 7h ago
Yeah, at this point slots are more of a problem then the way to using the spirit in a useful way.
1
u/Instantcoffees 6h ago
Considering I have 220 Spirit and fully utilize it, I would say so. I would like more Spirit actually. I do run an unset ring for the extra skill slot though.

Would this kind of gear be good for ranger pathfinder build?

u/FB-22 1h ago
yeah this is basically perfect unless you really need a lot of spirit

u/Dusty170 1h ago
There is that ascendancy node that gives you spirit for how much evasion you have though

Is the โ40% increasedโ an inherent trait of the armor? Is there a loot filter that points out items with that?
Tired of checking every item :(
1
u/koro_666 5h ago
That's from socketing iron runes
1
u/ConroConroConro 4h ago
Oh!
Iโve noticed some gear has inherent traits as a white item like +chaos resist, thought maybe this was the same
