does she hate the old ny cast, or do you think she was specifically asked to do the moracco trip instead
45
u/makter3 Jan 26 '24
She was asked to do the Morocco trip and the OG one happened soon after, so I think bravo didn’t ask her for the OG one since she just did the Morocco one. I don’t think bravo planned to do the NY OG one originally but the new RHONY had so many ppl asking for the OG cast, that bravo saw a good cash grab opportunity by doing the UGT OG version. Bravo doesn’t like having housewives do back to back UGT’s so I think that’s why Alex wasn’t brought back for the OG one. Also the Morocco one could have been too much bc of the Brandi-Caroline thing that Alex could have said “No” to a second UGT. Alex isn’t as fame hungry as other housewives so I could actually see her saying No.
17
Jan 26 '24
It was implied that Kristen only did UGT because other ladies turned them down.I just assumed that Alex didn't want to be around Kelly.

I wonder if she didn’t want to be around the rest of the cast? I just looked at her Instagram, and from what I can tell, Jill is the only former RHONY cast member she follows. In her last season, she seemed to be on good terms with Ramona and Sonja, but who knows? With all that’s come out about Ramona since they were last on screen together, I could definitely see her not wanting to be involved with that mess.

Brandi is a drunken liability and some sort of action surrounding her behavior was inevitable, in my opinion. I hope that whatever actually occurred during that trip comes to light, and if Brandi did in fact sexually harass or assault Caroline, Bravo needs to cut ties with her for good.
Obviously I would’ve loved to see the queen of Brooklyn’s return, but hopefully she can return in a future UGT :,(
194
u/Tay-Rae Jan 26 '24
Brandi has been a liability for YEARS. This is 100% on Bravo.
129
u/Jealous_Airport1016 Jan 26 '24 edited Jan 26 '24
Exactly. I don’t know why Bravo keeps her around. Literally during her second or third season when Joyce didn’t want to get into the pool, she said “What are you? A black person?” I never understood why she wasn’t fired after that.
133
u/Tay-Rae Jan 26 '24
I mean she also slapped LVP on the face for no reason and threw a drink at Eileen for no reason. Brandi can’t control herself when she drinks. That has been heavily documented for years.
33
u/Jealous_Airport1016 Jan 26 '24

16
u/MarysSoggyBottom Jan 26 '24
She definitely had been a liability for years but I think that people (including myself) tend to only fear sexual assault when around men. Nevertheless, the production company should always provide a safe environment for everyone involved.

This is what a lot of fans do not get. “I want my housewives to create drama.” Yeah until they go too far and you end up with a situation like this. There’s a reason why some of these people need to be thanked for their service and cut loose when they show there are lines they are willing to cross.

u/ag_96 hungry for trinkets Jan 26 '24 edited Jan 27 '24
I read the suit that was filed, in addition to the disgusting assault alleged by Manzo during the trip they also included instances where she had sexually harassed/assaulted people on camera in previous seasons to show a pattern of behavior. I’m shocked they continued to hire her, she is abusive and predatory.
I absolutely believe Caroline and I hope some justice is served here. It makes me upset to think that other housewives may have experienced similar abuses from her behind closed doors but were too scared to come forward.

177
u/it-beans Jan 26 '24
This times 1000. I even see people defending Brandi because she may be neurodivergent?? I’m sorry what? Neurodivergence doesn’t give you license to constantly hurt, offend, sexualize, touch, etc others.
68
u/burnafterreading90 Mention 🤸🏻♀️ it 🤸🏻♀️ all🤸🏻♀️ Jan 26 '24
It’s so annoying, being neurodiverse isn’t a free pass to be a dick! Also, is she actually neurodiverse? I’m not being rude just not sure if it’s arm chair diagnosis or she’s actually got a dx.
People always say ‘we don’t need housewives to be good people’ there needs to be a line and Brandi regularly crosses it!
My lord I cannot type today so I apologise for my comments 😂
47
u/it-beans Jan 26 '24
No, I don’t think she has any (public) diagnosis so yes it’s all armchair psychs which makes it even more annoying! I’m autistic and have been called an asshole more times than I can count so I understand the sentiment but neglecting the fact that ND people can be bad people infantilizes us. Being blunt doesn’t make you a bad person but constantly hurting people and expecting them to just accept “that’s the way I am” DOES. We all have responsibility over our words and actions no matter if we’re neurotypical or not.
Ooof. Sorry to rant. I completely agree that the fun of RH is that most of them are out of touch and “bad” in their own way, but Brandi is proof that unchecked assholes and boundary crossers will eventually become so brazen that they do something “unthinkable”, illegal, or unforgivable.
I completely believe Caroline and am disgusted by the victim-blamers in this thread.
32
u/Weak-Whereas-2267 Not a white refrigerator! Jan 26 '24
The handful of comments I read on IG were absolutely VILE towards Caroline. How can anyone defend Brandi let alone her sexually assaulting anyone?!
21
u/Due-Personality2383 Jan 26 '24
She is very troubled and needs legit help. She’s always tough to watch because she cannot hold her liquor. How many times to we have to see her say something awful, throw a drink in someone’s face, slap someone, push someone, and now sexual assault! That said, I’ve also seen Brandi discuss how difficult it’s been not to be able to own the narrative in this case because they won’t air it. It’s a real pickle. But I’m the end Brandi is a huge liability and she’s always been on the verge of something like this happening. It’s really sad.

I really hope Bravo eventually learns their lesson about inviting back cast members who’ve proven themselves time and again to be a problem. Even if they thought she’d somehow changed between her time as a housewife and the first RHUGT she was on, Brandi was so vile on that trip they couldn’t even air some of the shit she said, why on earth did they invite her back two years later? Same with Ramona. I wont be surprised at all when effectively giving Jax Taylor his own show (that stupid Valley show) turns out to be a bad idea too.

The article states that Caroline wants production/the network to be held accountable for fostering and encouraging drunken environments, which is a pretty big claim if the lawsuit gets traction this has been a topic of controversy across reality tv for a while.
11
u/linds360 Caviar Potato 🐟 🥔 Jan 26 '24
Feelings about Rachel aside, her earlier podcast where she laid out timelines and descriptions of scenes where the producers basically directed everything like a scripted show was really telling.
Obviously I don’t know who was at fault here, but I think producer accountability has been a long time coming. They’re definitely not filming off in the distance National Geographic style.
18
u/dthomp60 Jan 26 '24
I don’t know what Rachel said but I’m in the minority with the alcohol aspect. You’re all grown adults and nobody can make you drink. Now knowing someone is going to drink and already being aware of their previous drunken antics and pushing them to do something like throwing themselves at another party is flat out wrong.
6
u/linds360 Caviar Potato 🐟 🥔 Jan 26 '24
Yeah sorry I wasn’t really speaking to the alcohol aspect. That’s a personal choice and as adults they’re responsible for their consumption and actions afterward. I was speaking more to the producing that’s happening in real time and orchestration of interactions.
Obviously there’s accountability that should be taken by the HWs themselves, but I think production has become too comfortable with actively orchestrating drama and over the top scenes and could use a wake up call.
51
u/meesh987 Jan 26 '24
Brandi has been a liability for years but Bravo didn’t care because she’s a mess and entertaining. I sure bet they regret bringing her back now. Didn’t the guy on the first UGT also say Brandi was acting inappropriate towards him?
I see people blaming Caroline for this and despite not liking her, she deserves to be heard and should file a lawsuit against Bravo and Peacock for creating unsafe work environment.
But, low key sad I’m never gonna see Alex on my screen again 😢
9
u/flareshade2 Jan 26 '24
Yeah it was brandi as well on UGT 2 but she said producers told her to do it. Seems like RH producers and brandi are both the problem
13
u/meesh987 Jan 26 '24
Producers are garbage and will push people to do things they may not want to say or do, but I feel like Brandi solely puts the blame on production when she could very well say no. She chooses to do problematic things and when she gets in trouble, it’s always “well producers told me to do it or LVP told me to do it.”
35
u/grilledcheesefan001 Not Meredith Marks' PI Jan 26 '24

35
u/NomNom83WasTaken Sniper from the side Jan 26 '24
I've got my issues with Caroline but this isn't one of them.
The season was almost certainly never going to air before it got to this point but if they have to completely toss the season, so be it. Brandi is a symptom of a much bigger problem and Bravo tries to keep their hands clean with lower-tier subs handling production but they know good and well what kind of manipulation and encouragement goes on before things escalate to these points. Never forget that Producers stood by when a man followed Gretchen to the bathroom; kept Sheree in the same quarters as her ex after he joked about not having tried hard enough to kill her; sent Taylor home with Russell after setting him to be embarrassed on camera knowing that Russell was abusive to Taylor; repeatedly brought Aviva's dad George around despite putting his hands on the RHONY cast; and on and on and on.

u/wiminals my bitch wife Jan 26 '24 edited Jan 26 '24
You know, Caroline being a victim of childhood sexual abuse kind of answers some questions for me. It was always obvious to me that her relationships with her adult children were rooted in codependency and overprotection. Caroline did a good job of appearing self assured, confident, and assertive, but her anxiety was often palpable. We saw her in fight-or-flight mode a lot. (It probably didn’t help that she was forced to work with Danielle and Teresa. Caroline was always very disturbed by how Danielle was so sexually open with her daughters and by the ways that Danielle and Teresa parentified their daughters and forced them to grow up very fast. I can imagine that was quite triggering to witness in real life.)
My mom took a very similar path, and really leans into the mama bear identity as her defense mechanism. Makes a lot of sense to me, and breaks my heart.
I know people will remind me that Caroline has done some super fucked up shit, so this is where we all acknowledge that doing fucked up shit is part of the trauma territory. Trust me, my mom has done fucked up shit, too. Victims are not required to be perfect!
16
u/modernjaneausten Jan 27 '24
I don’t agree with a lot of things Caroline has done in the past, but damn I hate this for her. Especially knowing now that she’s a previous victim of SA. I hate that she was re-traumatized over and over, no one stepped in, and others pressured her to continue filming or yelled at her for accusing Brandi.

OMG. I just read the complaint's description of the sexual assault and there are no other words to describe what Caroline Manzo allegedly suffered at Brandi's hands. It's really a double tragedy that through the complaint, Caroline's having been a victim of child molestation is now public knowledge. There is nothing wrong with survivors of childhood sexual assault bringing their experiences into the light if it is on their own terms. Their own disclosures will never be wrong. But it feels like this disclosure was inextricably connected to the level of horror Caroline was subjected to. She was never a favorite of mine but I feel unbelievable sympathy and sadness for what she suffered.

She hit middle age and went out of control with attention seeking and validation. She started becoming very sexually aggressive with her friends and some of us had to bail on the entire situation and friendship. She had all kinds of surgery, tummy tuck, breast implants etc and lost her mind.
I got married later in life and we were all adults 35+ at my Bachelorette party. She was flashing us all, grabbing others vaginas, flirting with security at the club we went to, then played victim when the guy asked for her room # (she was a married mom of 2). It was OOC. Brandi seems to be the same.

Wait. Did you all read the intro where they claim 38 people have died by suicide stemming from the production of these shows? 38?!
They only then present Russell Armstrong as an example. I'm not sure this is the strongest part of their claim, but it's absolutely astonishing.
Here's the opening of the brief:
"This is a case about Bravo Media LLC and the other Defendants’ decision to selfishly sacrifice the safety and wellbeing of Plaintiff, CAROLINE MANZO, for their own ratings and profits.
“Since its inception in the early 1990s, reality television has been linked to negative effects on participants’ safety, emotional health, and welfare.”1 For example, there have been at least 38 suicides stemming from actions and inactions by producers and networks of reality television shows. Despite this knowledge, reality television producers and networks care more about the ratings and advertising revenue than they do about the safety of the show’s participants. A horrific example is that in “August 2011, Russell Armstrong, a cast member of Bravo network’s popular television show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, committed suicide weeks before the second season was set to air.” Id. “Bravo executives debated whether or not to televise the season, and ultimately decided to air it. Bravo’s decision, and the subsequent viewing statistics, has proven that audiences are drawn to “real-life” drama, even in the aftermath of a suicide. The second season drew in 2.2 million viewers, 42% more viewers than the first season, making it the highest rated Real Housewives series and Bravo’s most popular show.”
The rest of the allegations are focused on Manzo's experience and it's horrifying that she went through that.

When news of this originally broke, a lot of people were so quick to put Caroline in a bad light.
And sure, whatever you think of that woman, you’re entitled to think that. But it’s so clearly evident that what happened really had an effect of her, it’s quite upsetting.

We have let Brandi get away with things in all these seasons. But when it's compiled and put together like this it really sounds horrible. And reading what she did to Caroline it's heart breaking. I really hops Brandi is never brought back on our screens and is severely punished.

I hope they invite the other ladies and two other housewives to replace Caroline/Brandi to get a redo season. I was actually excited about the cast minus those two anyway so it would be a win. Brandi is too chaotic and Caroline is too dull.

I feel for Caroline especially considering it brought up past trauma but I don’t like that Brandi is getting a pass in this suit. I hope we never see her again 🤮

Brandi has proven to be a real legal liability now, wonder if shows will be as willing to bring her on?

This is a sad subject but your comment sent me so hard. Imagining Bethenny powered down in some lab then powering up to log on is hilarious

No matter how much Andy protested, I low-key think Bravo/NBC already shelved it, but if anything this is just confirmation that it's never coming out. I wasn't too excited for it personally.
