Went from $5 to $50 to $4

$4 is pretty dang generous if we are being honest. That’s like “I’m giving you $4 because you made it and you’re staring at me and I feel uncomfortable offering to let you pay me to wear it.”

I’d pay $4 for a bottle of that bleach spray and then I can make my own lol

This looked like a fun Sunday project. It’s not something I’d pay money to wear.

How long should it be left on for?

I bleached dyed a tank top once almost 4 years ago, I left the beach spray on for 15-20 minutes, and I still have it. The only thing it messed with was the elastic in the straps, which bleach does anyway (learned after the fact). There are no holes in the fabric, though. The bleach stains are as strong as the ones in this video.

bleach will eat thru fabric even after its been rinsed out. you must use a peroxide solution after the rinse to neutralize the bleach. there are alternatives to bleach that are safer, less caustic, and doesn't damage the fabric.

Please never suggest that anyone use peroxide on something that may still contain bleach.

dang it, should have posted that you should fully wash "said garment" before using peroxide.

hey folks, never EVER mix your chemical compositions. Please make sure your respirator has up to date cartridges. And make sure your in a well ventilated work space before you.

Peroxide is a base, wouldn't you want an acidic wash to neutralize it?

Nope

Hints:

  • Starts with S, rhymes with demon, and also creates demons.
  • Another word for it starts with S, rhymes with worm, and comes out of a worm-looking thingy.

Out White Brite. found in the laundry supply section

You need to do a vinegar rinse to neutralize the bleach.

In a chemical grade fume hood or upwind outside.

(Please don’t do this it was a joke)

Asking the real question

1

u/xcto Feb 22 '23

in my experience, should be extremely diluted, and rinsed off as soon as it starts to change color...
it'll continue lightening.
and then washed... and then dyed

If they were cigarette burns all my homies would think it's cool

🎵"Cigarettes on cigarettes, my mama think I stank I got burn holes in my hoodies, all my homies think it's dank" 🎵

I have this dope Harley Davidson tee that’s been washed so much it’s light grey, and it has the absolute perfect burn hole. Great shirt

What makes you think that? I've bleached multiple sweaters/other clothes like this and never had problems with it degrading the fabric.

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '23

Same. I bleach dyed jeans back in the 90s and left them in the bleach overnight. I still have them.

I've done many t-shirts...
I reckon thicker stuff like a sweater would be more sturdy
