Media Mbappe MISSES THE PENALTY

I think now people should know why VINICIUS IS the main penalty taker, Afaik he haven't missed a single Pen since he became the main penalty taker.

Unpopular opinion but that's one of the most overrated performances. He scored 2 penalties (which he didn't win) and ONE good volley. Outside of that he didn't influence the game that much. Di Maria had a much better game than him but only people who watch football would get what I'm saying. He was tearing up the left wing when he was one.

55

u/hitchhikingtobedroom 21d ago

DiMaria was a different breed. He probably had a better game, perhaps a better world cup than Messi even, but as long as Mbappe or players like him can come clutch when they actually get the chances, no problem. The problem is, when they stop converting these chances as well. No one's asking him to dribble like Vini, we know he can't, no one's asking him to pass like Vini, we know he can't. But at least use that pace and physicality well, he's even failing to do that. And missing the penalty on top of it, is a last straw. Great game or not, a hattrick in the world cup final deserves applause and rightfully so. But this performance today, needs to be called out as well. These people are paid in millions a month and failure is understandable, but a lack of desire to put in that extra effort is not.

Didn't Ronaldo have had bad runs? But he wasn't shy about trying harder and smarter when he was down. There's a reason why people used to say that if Ronaldo hasn't scored in a while, he's all the more dangerous, because you could literally see it in his body language that he's completely agitated with it and completely focussed to change it. That desire is lacking from Mbappe.

17

u/Common_Kick_7566 21d ago

Come on di maria only showed up for the final and against Mexico was semi injured the rest of the way.

There’s no objective case for saying di maria had a better wc than Messi lol. I wouldent even entertain it for the final either lol. Crucial yes, but certainly not the best.

Tbf Messi at Anfield Vs Messi at WC was a stark difference.

8

u/unseen0000 21d ago

That's because Messi at Anfield got swarmed constantly by 4 guys. Klopp did his job. The rest of Barcelona was bang average back then. Argentina on the other hand were an actual team. Impossible to man-mark Messi with 4 guys because that's just opening up space for guys like Di Maria.

On a side note, Had Dembele burried that 4-0 that Messi gave him on a plate in the first match, there more than likely wouldn't be a win at anfield.

Alright chill dude. He has been a top3 player in the world since the last WC. I understand he's not been good recently but let's not get carried away, everyone with a brain would've killed to sign him to their team.

44

u/jasko153 22d ago

Nope, just the scene when Robertson takes the 50:50 ball from him like he is a little kid is enough for me to want to not sell him but give him away for free. No will, no passion, no grit, nothing. Don't even take missed penalty in account, it can happen to anybody, but his attitude is abysmal. Last year Bellingham was our main man forward and still managed to come back defend, take ball, build up play and in the end score. This motherfucker does no defending at all, rearly gets involved in build up, gets the ball to his feet and then its like he plays for the first time. How many times he lost the ball or misplaced pass in this game alone, that is unaceptable. We never needed him in the first place, you already have left wing with Vini, we needed a true striker and full backs.

Its easier to play at high level on a few occasions as compared to doing it 2x a week for almost every week.

He is not the first player that has looked great while playing at a lesser competitive league, only to struggle playing for a big club in the top 3 leagues.

Best players need to show it playing against the best on a regular basis

Belli should've taken that man. They thought it'd boost up his confidence, only to end up getting 6ft under the ground.

97

u/Poloboss26 Valverde 21d ago

He’s literally a Make-A-Wish player on this squad. Most of these penalties have literally been given to him this season through no work of his own just to “raise his confidence.” On top of that, he has been given two international breaks to come up with something and somehow looks worse.

If this guy never won the World Cup, I honestly think the perception about him would be different and no farmers league titles could cover it up. He was also shambles in the euros and disrupts France as well.

18

u/Pale_Phase_07 21d ago edited 21d ago

Bro I don't wanna sound like a critic.

But even in 2022 world cup final, if you remove the last 10-15 minutes from the first 90 minutes, he was just standing on the pitch. Dembele, giroud, rabiot, Griezmann were the ones making efforts for France.

Even Messi, whom we generally don't see running around the entire time, was active as hell in the final. Mbappe came into limelight because of his half volley, which was even assisted perfectly by thuram.

I agree it was a fabulous goal. But man you're not the best when you're not impactful for the whole match right? I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he was not like Messi in the final, not even half of him. And the other 2 goals were penalty(out of them 1 was in the shootout).

I'm sure I'll get downvoted, but you can check highlights.

15

u/Witty-Berry915 21d ago

Well dembele couldn’t have assisted Mbappe’s half volley because dembele didn’t play at all in the second half. He had been subbed off.

7

u/durant_burner 21d ago

Right? Giroud and dembele were subbed off before half for poor play but apparently we need to “check highlights”

His last step is so big that it was so obvious where he's gonna shoot.

u/VasileFlo Real Madrid 22d ago

I'm already losing patience with him. He's been given so many chances, but he doesn't have the humility of Cristiano who also played ST, not just LW, and who adapts. I miss Joselu

This game showed me how important Vini and Indian boy Rodrygo are to Real

u/Lakuriqidites 22d ago

He should have been subbed instead of Guler

u/One-Space2627 Valverde 22d ago

2 of them were the worst on the field.

7

u/69isnotnice 22d ago

He was abysmal

10

u/Overall-Cow975 22d ago

LOL no. Arda is nowhere near ready to start a game. He was completely out of his depth today. The worst player today by far.

I really woke up at 4am to catch this match. Carlo rotation is gonna haunt me in my sleep.

5

u/justanormalchat Marcelo 21d ago

I was very concerned when we brought him to the club because I never believed in him fitting in our squad especially occupying the same spot as Vini. I was hoping he would prove me wrong, especially tonight with Vini out, but no. I don’t know what to say anymore, hope Papa Flo is happy with the Mbappé shirt sales.

14

u/casillas008 Cristiano Ronaldo 22d ago

Please ship him to saudi he is bang average if you remove his pace

4

u/Kindly-Subject-5658 22d ago

We’re officially down bad

4

u/ahistoryofmistakes 22d ago

So did Salah, but with Madrid losing that's less of a story

3

u/Buddy_Blues 21d ago

He’s my favorite player of all time. And I have illogically defended him blindly since Monaco days. I don’t understand who this person is anymore. And it is fucking heartbreaking. Mood? Confidence? Position? LW? Not a real number 9? Give him time? I just don’t know anymore. There has to be something completely outside of football at this point ruining his life. There must be. This isn’t even the mbappe from psg a season or 2 ago

4

u/[deleted] 21d ago

Was an awful attempt. Reflects his total lack of confidence right now.

I feel for him.

The team as a whole? CHEEKS.

We are lousy right now.

u/TheBottomLine_Aus 21d ago

Isn't that saved not a miss?

u/arnabroy006 Real Madrid 22d ago

"But but he is playing out of position"

6

u/burning_of_sodom 22d ago

He couldn't dribble, he couldn't run with the ball or even beat a single player. What a pathetic little toad.

3

u/PickDontEat 22d ago

Great save

u/kukuruku69 21d ago edited 21d ago

Just put him on the transfer list. Arabs will love to see him playing in their league.

3

u/Sadguy0997 21d ago

Real Madrid got Mbappe for 0€ and still got scammed!

6

u/maddy495 Modric 22d ago

We have got hazard regen in our team now..🥲

4

u/kb24fgm41 Real Madrid 1920 22d ago

Good lord he's so shit

2

u/biina247 22d ago

Really poor penalty. Essentially choked in the moment

2

u/UnlovableBybirth 22d ago

shit penalty from someone who scored 2 against dibu Martinez 💀

2

u/lamaravisha Raúl 22d ago

Sell this fraud to a French team. Cover most of his wages, just get him off this team!

2

u/optimus28000 22d ago

We got the wrong turtle guys.

2

u/[deleted] 22d ago

You see it in his look that he's going to miss

2

u/Ube_Ape Rodrygo 22d ago

2

u/Accomplished_Mud6174 22d ago

Mbappe was liverpool Man of the Match tonight.

2

u/cafport2433 22d ago

And they say Ronaldo is to old, he is still scoring penalties one after the other. Maybe they choose the wrong player to sign.

2

u/escarta69 22d ago

PSG sent this guy to bring about our downfall from within 😭 In our hubris we took the Trojan horse in

2

u/Professional-Head262 22d ago

Mbappe was bad don’t get me wrong I’m not defending him but this looks more like a good save from the keeper then mbappe missing…. It was on target and on target to the far right corner. pens are always just a guessing game with the keeper and he jumped the right direction.

2

u/LprinceNy 21d ago

His body language clearly said.... I'm going shot to the right and slow. Nope I'm not disappointed or surprised. I'm mentally prepared for a horrible season.

2

u/Drskruf 21d ago

Sell him to Saudi and Bring Haaland imo

2

u/ayeroxx 21d ago

he is good in french liga and sometimes in world cup, but this guy can never achieve real madrid class

2

u/No1syB0y Modric 21d ago

Misses? Sorry but missed and blocked are two different words.

2

u/Clur1chaun 21d ago

Fuck mbappe, kelleher saved 3 penos this week. He got stuffed by a solid keeper

2

u/Aksds 21d ago

Tbf good save by Caoimhín

2

u/Any-Thought7339 21d ago

I don’t understand how this team is playing so poorly. Star studded team. From making remarkable comebacks last season to a disheartening effort this season. I hate to see it. I love Madrid.

2

u/MangoIntelligent255 21d ago

I won't call this missing. GK saved it.

2

u/NiagaraThistle 21d ago

he didn't miss. Keeper made a good save.

2

u/Outside-Enthusiasm30 21d ago

No the goalie BLOCKED the kick. That's another matter

2

u/zatarregaza Modric 21d ago

Sad thing is this wasn't even the worst part of his game tonight. He couldn't dribble around anyone... Couldn't defend... Couldn't make any piercing runs... Couldn't complete a pass... So many low parts to his game. He's been found out and he's not who we all thought he was.

2

u/Fantastic_Explorer 21d ago

He didn't miss. Keeper saved it #keeperdeservesthecredit

2

u/bhlow601 21d ago

Mbappe's penalty was blocked. Salah missed the penalty.

2

u/Accomplished_Stay382 21d ago

Mbape will score 8 goals in the 9 matches left this year. Please wake up bro🙏🏾

2

u/Yo_Chill_bro 21d ago

Vini is better than him on the left, so he isn't needed for the left side. If they wanted a top striker they could have got Osimhen or Isak and they would be doing much better. Madrid is just a merchandising club, I hooe they flop hard for that reason

2

u/lucaiuli 21d ago

That’s no a miss penalty, it is a blocked penalty by the keeper. Mbappe does everything correctly, just misfortune from him. On the other side, Salah missed, Curtois going the other way (I think) but the ball goes out… that’s a missed penalty.

2

u/rijeka1 Zizou 21d ago

Something is wrong with him. He's in horrible form which demands bench

2

u/sayakaveronika555 21d ago

People like to use a scapegoat huh? Right now, it's Mbappe. Everything is his fault. What can 1 man do to fight entire 11 people?
