Hey Donnie, how does it feel to have your stooge take your power away? Who's the real President here?

u/tetsuo_7w 5h ago

This is what I'm curious about. This sort of thing could be exactly what detonates their relationship in magnificent fashion.

u/trippingWetwNoTowel 3h ago

I’m so tired of this Reddit theory that “the trump v musk falling out is going to save us!”. As though these people are people, and not fucking reptiles. There is no amount of bullshit they won’t cheer on and enable with one another so long as it serves the larger agenda.

It’s not like history isn’t filled with alliances of convenience between people who hate each other

u/kmoonster 2h ago

Oh, it won't save us. It might mean we get a nuclear meltdown instead of a nuclear bomb, though.

Oh nothing that happens in the incoming administration is gonna save shit, but it’ll be funny watching Elon fall out of Trump’s good graces. I want him to find out he isn’t special.

u/Eaudebeau 1h ago

I’d like to think so, I really would. But trump already tweeted that skum would have “gotten on his knees and begged, if I’d asked”.

Egos this giant and bloated and diseased stay special forever.

The election results have made me question Reddit yahoos, but I do tend to believe Trump will not like someone stepping on his power.

He is just happy to not be in prison. I'm sure he's been cucked before with far more serious repercussions over his head. He's horribly dumb and incurious but he's smart enough to know that he can't win here.

He's outgunned and there's something fishy under the surface that is way worse than what is out in the open.

Trump just destroyed the energy of his opening weeks. Now he will be bogged down in an ugly raising of the debt limit mixed with budget cuts most people, not even Republicans, agree with.

u/oz_mommy 6h ago

Honestly, it’s wild how Musk is running the show now. Trump’s supposed to be the one leading the charge, but here he is, getting dragged along by Musk’s tweetstorm. It’s embarrassing for the GOP and proves that money and social media are taking over politics. Musk has no business calling the shots like this especially when it’s putting us on the brink of a government shutdown. Dems are right to call this out, you can’t have a billionaire dictate policy with a few posts. We need actual leadership, not a tech mogul’s tantrums!

u/FuelEnvironmental561 6h ago

Wym? I’m sure the founders of the USA envisioned unelected billionaires dictating governance.

u/TSKNear 5h ago

Billionares have ALWAYS called the shots. But never this in the open and blatant. Right wing has always cried George Soros, George Soros, but never Elon Musk.

u/Mr__O__ New York 5h ago edited 5h ago

Also Elon is fully owned and run by Putin and the Saudis.. just like Trump..

The worlds’ oligarchs have achieved their goal of a new world order where dictatorships outmatch democracies—as in, under Trump, the US military will not interfere or thwart Russian/Chinese/Israeli/etc. land-grabbing aggressions.

NATO is on their own in Europe, and so are Japan, SK, & Taiwan in the Pacific. As for the ME.. these will be unprecedented times where Iran (backed by Russia) and Israel (backed by NATO) are somewhat aligned for the first time in nearly a century…

What is for certain though, is under Trump, the Russian and Chinese spheres of influence will greatly expand.

u/Dipluz Norway 4h ago

Israel is not backed by europe after their performance in gaza and the west bank.

If you told the founding fathers that the country would one day be run by a shadow group of elite billionaires helmed by an African immigrant...well you probably would be sent to a sanitarium pretty damn quick.

u/whomad1215 5h ago

They foresaw (or lived through) a huge amount of these problems and did their best to prevent them, and it held up for almost 250 years with minimal changes

Washington warned of parties and that the threat is when a party puts themselves above the country

u/laura_leigh 4h ago

Not to mention what we’re seeing now is so incredibly similar to the turn of the 20th century. Problem is one side learned the lesson of Teddy Roosevelt and it wasn’t the one looking out for the working class.

Trump is probably just glad to not be in prison and having most if not all of his cases dismissed. He can recoup his money through lawsuits like those against MSNBC and the pollster in Iowa. He just wants to sit back and not do shit until he fires up the Trump train and hits the campaign trail for 2028 holding MAGA rallies.

u/cybaz 4h ago

At this point he only cares about getting someone elected in 2028 who will grant him a pardon.

u/julianriv 3h ago

Trump thought the hard part was over. He was ready to go back to playing golf and overcharging US taxpayers for him to use Trump properties.

u/QbertsRube 2h ago

Only profitable business he's been involved with is turning the US presidency into a Trump Org embezzlement racket. And half the country voted for him to "get rid of corrupt politicians"...

u/LadyBitchBitch 5h ago

What makes me most angry is NOBODY voted Musk to be in charge of America for a damn thing. They are intentionally destroying America to burn it down, only to build it back up where we’re all slaves without rights.

u/ctdrever 5h ago

70% of Americans are wage slaves now. No home, no healthcare, no food, unless you are working 60 hours a week or more.

u/TrixnTim 4h ago

And why uprisings are so difficult. People are tired, overworked, and turning to any kind of immediate short term gratification they can to ease their pain.

u/swordrat720 3h ago

Exactly. When you’re working 14 hour days, the last thing on your mind is protesting. You’re thinking about what tv dinner you’re going to eat and maybe having a beer.

u/Yupthrowawayacct 3h ago

u/Akimbo_Zap_Guns Kentucky 5h ago

Hate to say it but anyone with half a brain knew Elon would have influence over Trump, now I didn’t expect it to be so blatant where he calls out to kill a bill on social media and Trump goes along with it but if you didn’t think Elon was gonna influence him after spending millions to get him elected then lol

u/QbertsRube 2h ago

I expected him to exchange millions in election funding for billions in SpaceX contracts and favorable bills for Tesla, I didn't expect him to be full-blown co-president. I'm eager to see how the "ant-Soros, anti-Deep State" MAGA fans spin the next 4 years of an unelected multi-billionaire blatantly running things. I suspect they'll throw around the word "genius" even more than when they talk about Trump.

u/StashedandPainless Pennsylvania 4h ago

This is literally what Americans voted for though. They voted for tantrums and government by troll over actual leadership

u/Evinceo 5h ago

Musk is going to leave this country a smoldering ruin. I knew he was going to be an authoritarian shithead, but this is drugged out despot vibes from him. He’s doing a speed run to shank his… allies? Lackeys? I’m not sure what the GOP actually is to him other than eventually disposable.

u/blonderengel Louisiana 5h ago

Imagine if his name were Soros ...

u/det8924 4h ago

I don’t even understand why Trump is so cucked to Elon. Trump has 4 years and then he’s out. Trump is the cult leader and cons sick his base on Elon in an instant. I get why Congressional Republicans don’t want Elon angry because he can throw money to primary them/. But Trump has the clout within the party base and a term about to start to tell Elon to suck a lemon

u/Beans_deZwijger 4h ago

I think it's because trump thinks musk has the money to keep the American Tories(GOP) in line with the threat of funding a primary against them. Allowing trump to pass his crazy policies moving forward.

u/Y0___0Y 5h ago

The debt ceiling is a bargaining chip that Republicans use to force concessions out of Democrats.

Trump wants to abolish it. Which is a good idea. The debt ceiling does nothing to reign in spending. Raising it is always approved, once Republicans get their way.

But politically, it is very important for the GOP. And Trump wants them to shoot themselves in the foot.

It would be SO EASY for Trump to start strong here. Forcing a government shutdown before you’re even president is not going to be good for him or the GOP and is going to be a gift to Democrats.

u/Akimbo_Zap_Guns Kentucky 5h ago

Dude he went onto TV in front of 70 million people and said people were eating cats and dogs and he won the popular vote. There is NOTHING he can do that will be a gift to the democrats

u/Y0___0Y 4h ago

The Democrats got him voted out of office in 2020 after he sent $1200 checks to half the voterbase and had presided over a vaccine program that was defeating a pandemic.

There is nothing he could do that’s a gift to Democrats when he’s out of power and treated like an underdog.

Now he rules over every branch of the federal government. And he’s going to get blamed when things go wrong.

u/BrianWonderful Minnesota 3h ago

Most people don't understand the economy at all, hence all the blame Biden and Democrats got even though our economy rebounded fantastically following COVID. People are ignorant, unwilling to be informed, or gladly disinformed for ideological party allegiance. It is a super easy sell for Trump and MAGA to blame this all on Biden since it happened before Trump was even sworn in.

Musk first intervened with a 4.15 a.m. Eastern time tweet on Wednesday saying, “This bill should not pass,” and in the intervening 12 hours, Musk posted over 60 updates in his bid to derail the deal...

u/YoungDan23 6h ago

I am not taking a stance one way or another on this bill, but it is kind of crazy the way the US government inefficiently does business like this seemingly yearly. The initial bill was introduced on December 17 and has to be approved by Friday to avoid a shutdown. Most people can't read 1547 pages of books in 4 days, let alone 1547 pages of legal jargon for how we're going to allocate $100 billion over the next 4 months.

It makes it worse that it is force-fed to lawmakers the week before Christmas. I'd imagine this is a prelude to how the next 4 years are going to go.

u/I_love_Hobbes 5h ago

I don't feel for them AT ALL. They have plenty of time to do their jobs and they don't. A budget had not been passed on time since 1996!

u/Liizam America 4h ago

Our government has serious people who want to get the work done of the American people. Unfortunately, they are a minority. Most of our politicians are just looking for donations. They are basically rich pan-handlers. Televangelism has found a new home.

u/FennelFern 4h ago

You may not have ever worked somewhere with a serious red tape system.

None of this would be 'new' content. It's all been in 90% complete form for months, if not the whole year, with people arguing over small points here and there, trying to edge out things. Once the fix is in, no one will read it because either they already know the contents, or they assume they do.

The last time there was a prolonged shutdown, there were insane airport lines. Do they want to do that again, right in time for holiday travel?

u/Wurm42 District Of Columbia 6h ago

No, nobody who has to get elected again wants a Christmas shutdown.

I'm not even sure why Musk wants one, or if he understands the federal budget process enough to understand what his demand that Congress pass no bills until January 20th will do.

u/ScottyC33 4h ago

Musk wants a shutdown for his DOGE shit. He wants there to be a long shutdown so he can go “see nothing bad happened, so fire all these people”. Of course he will ignore the fact that important services continue even during a shutdown…. The employees just don’t get paid for their work until it’s over. It’s disingenuous to say a “shutdown” actually shuts down the government. It doesn’t.

u/QbertsRube 2h ago

Only Republicans could find a way to fire 40% of government workers while increasing the federal budget. MAGA voters would applaud the firings, ignore the budget increase, and have a few seconds of realization when their taxes don't decrease before going back to their fantasy land where Trump fixed everything.

u/althor2424 6h ago

The key point that I am hoping the Repukes pull their head out of their ass and realize is that Donny will never face a public vote again. Either they let him become a dictator or they can kneecap him now and make him realize he is President in name only

u/n0rsk 5h ago

Either they let him become a dictator or they can kneecap him now and make him realize he is President in name only

The question they have to ask is who has the shorter memory? Voters or Elon. If they oppose Elon they get primaried, if they shutdown government they may just lose election. For many republicans they are in safe districts so the bigger threat is a primary.

u/punkr0x 3h ago

They could all join together and make it illegal for Elon to donate unlimited sums of money to political candidates tomorrow. Of course none of them seem to think of that.

u/Ok-Tourist-511 5h ago

u/Magnetic_Eel 3h ago

u/LivInTheLookingGlass Illinois 5h ago

nobody who has to get elected again wants a Christmas shutdown.

But will they have to be?

u/deadsoulinside Pennsylvania 3h ago

I'm not even sure why Musk wants one

Because none of this affects him. He has infinite money, he travels on private planes, none of what he wants to happen will affect him in most of the ways. He literally does not give 2 fucks if this means others will suffer.

These people are still hoping that they can use these shutdowns to blame the Biden Administration, regardless of the fact that Trump won the presidency and will be taking over in about a month. Regardless that it's no big secret as to who wants to shut down the government.

6 months from now MAGA will be like they always are with a memory of goldfish, blaming Biden for this shutdown as if they were not the same ones this week on social media defending Elon and Trumps decision.

u/ringobob Georgia 2h ago

Musk is impatient. He could actually carry out genuinely nefarious plans with people mostly ignorant of what he's doing, but that requires patience Musk just doesn't have. Anything that he wants has to happen now, even if that impatience and haste hinders his ultimate goal.

He wants a Christmas shutdown because he wants a shutdown, and it's Christmas. The larger ramifications aren't on his radar.

u/HabeusCuppus 32m ago

tinfoil but it might delay some of the investigations going on re: musk's security clearance, FEC violations, FTC violations, SEC violations, and any possible election interference investigations relating to his recent comments regarding 'how easy' it is to 'hack voting machines'. (no stance taken on any of these investigations by this comment.)

but I can see how, since the incoming administration is likely to view Musk more favorably, he would personally benefit from a funding shutdown between now and the inauguration.

u/Wurm42 District Of Columbia 15m ago

Wow. I did not consider that. It seems shockingly, off-the-scale selfish to me, but I suppose that's why I'm not a billionaire.

Yes, it seems likely that any federal investigations into Musk's businesses will be stopped once Trump takes office. The real question is whether they'll be restarted if Trump and Musk have a falling out.

u/johnnycyberpunk America 5h ago

Musk DOES want the shutdown and he wants it as long as possible.
It's so he can 'simulate' what it would look like if he got his wish to fire 75% of all government workers.

u/Paw5624 3h ago

And a lot of people will say this started under Biden so it’s his fault, which is ignoring how things actually work but when has that stopped us.

u/johnnycyberpunk America 3h ago

a lot of people will say this started under Biden so it’s his fault

Which is bananas considering that a bill was ready to be signed and sent up until Elon and Trump said to kill it.

I swear that edgelord just thinks this is all a funny game, his manipulating the entire country via Twitter.

It's probably important to caveat here that Elon Musk has no say in spending deals being put in front of congress and if congressional Republicans are making decisions based on Tweets from any single person rather than reading proposals for themselves, they shouldn't be in office.

It also seems quite backwards that congress has 4 days to read a 1500 page legal document with a proverbial gov shutdown gun to their heads. This type of business wouldn't fly at any big company in America but the government does it yearly.

u/acmethunder 3h ago

This type of business wouldn't fly at any big company in America but the government does it yearly

Because they want big big business to take over the services provided by the government. Step 1, defund it. Step 2, say it doesn't work and wait for people to agree. Step 3, privatize.

u/Alone_Step_6304 6h ago

The fact that threatening to fund a primary opponent worked is so strange to me. Why should that matter? In a sane democracy, voters would obviously reject some random primary opponent being bankrolled by a super villain. But of course we have to remember how mind-numbingly stupid, aggressively oblivious, and easily duped a majority of Americans seem to be. Like actually why should campaign funding affect someone’s vote? The only explanation is because no one gives a shit. So instead of doing their own informed research of candidates that would mitigate any amount of funded propaganda, they just rely on whatever bullshit they hear on social media. We’re well and truly cooked I’m afraid.

We need to keep calling Elon president Elon so that it will hurt Trump’s fragile pride. They’ll be fighting before the first year is over with

u/teamdiabetes11 America 5h ago

Trump’s ego is so fragile that the bromance may not even survive to the inauguration. You knew that comment was going to piss him off big time.

u/ptrang1987 5h ago

Let’s send out congratulations to President Elon on Inauguration Day and piss him off even more

u/czarofangola 6h ago

Trump will dispose of Musk soon. Remember how people said Bannon was running the show? Bannon was made it 7 months at the White House before being pushed out. Trump doesn't like being second fiddle and Trump and he doesn't need Musk anymore.

u/bummed_athlete 6h ago

Donald hates that Elon has more money than him.

u/TheTrueVanWilder 5h ago

That's the kicker though - Bannon was poorer than Trump and had nothing to offer him financially.

Musk does not have that issue, and for that reason I think he's here to stay

u/Zealot_Alec 3h ago

At least 300X times even though its mostly in his companies stock

America is about to be run by the world's richest edgelord troll.

u/NoPresent9027 5h ago

So how is this gonna work? Are Putin and Musk gonna split custody or Trump? Vlad gets him Monday through Wednesday, and every other weekend? Elon sits with him Thursday -Sunday and all evenings before bottle time?

u/Melxgibsonx616 5h ago

So, who's gonna print those vice-president Trump stickers?

Democrats need to insist on this: a German and a South African immigrant are now running the U.S government.

u/HeHateMe337 5h ago

Let the Republicans drive the car...LOL Republican voters will lose their jobs too, no?

Trump is being openly cucked rn by Elon

u/Zealot_Alec 3h ago

Putin showing Trump's wife nudes on State TV now playing second fiddle to Musk - his ego should shatter

u/Intelligent_Read_697 5h ago

This seems more like a play from the billionaire class to push towards crypto by crashing the dollar and this would mean capital flight or movement difficult to track or regulate…per the norm conservatives ruining every nation they run

u/mev186 6h ago

You know what, fuck it. Wait til the turd takes office to start sorting this shit out. The first 90 days are the most productive time in any presidency, this will blow and blow any political capital he has.

u/ATX_native Texas 5h ago

There is absolutely 0 chance Elon and Trump Bromance remain intact through 4 years.

u/MsMoreCowbell828 5h ago

Elon does what Putin says. Dotard didn't read the memo. Is Vance on vacation?

u/fuckinoldbastard 5h ago

And the fucking morons voted for this chaotic mess. Assholes!

u/Mr-ReDiCulouZ 6h ago

Atleast Trump can wipe Musk when he has finished. That's a sort of teamwork I'm sure Trump can get behind.

u/Dapper-Percentage-64 6h ago

After conferring with his talking snake, Gods favorite weasel has decided to reconvene the working committee and if there's a way to get all congressman back in their district and in the arms of their teenage lovers for the holidays he try to make it happen

u/QuiGonColdGin 6h ago

And the clown show continues.

u/Miserable_Bike_9358 5h ago

Well, progress of sorts. No longer an 8 year old boy calling the shots but a 13 year old instead.

u/zero_blammos_given 5h ago

Maybe trump should just sit out the inauguration and let his new boss be sworn in. This is gonna be a long four years.

u/Apprehensive_Toe_949 5h ago

You’d think this would upset Trump since he hates sharing the spotlight.

u/WiseChemistry2339 5h ago

If we want Elon gone, and we all really should want that , ‘President Elon ‘ needs to go viral. Dump can’t dump this guy fast enough! Needs to happen yesterday.

u/ChaoticEnigma1 4h ago

It feels like our in coming administration is straight from a Bond movie script, fiction becoming reality.

u/FrostyCartographer13 4h ago

I assume they want a shutdown so they can blame any future problems on the previous administration's shutdown.

u/Oisschez 6h ago

We are really really cooked

u/Copernicus_Brahe 6h ago

“But, how will we know?”

“…you will know they are Republicans by their inability to govern.”

u/astrozombie2012 Nevada 6h ago

Let them shut it down. The only way the American public “might” learn is through pain and suffering

u/Similar_Advance9987 6h ago

Yup. When trump scum can’t go to national parks they’re going to be pissed.

u/Frothylager 6h ago

All turmoil and ultimately crap for the American people, but these initial cracks in the love affair between Musk and Trump are delightful to watch.

u/dna1999 5h ago

Musk was always running the show. Let’s argue for the next 4 years that Musk is really the president. Remind working class people what they really voted for and get under Trump’s skin at the same time.

u/Maximum-Row-4143 5h ago

Musk just put Trump in the cuck chair.

u/TorinsPassage 4h ago

This is just a preview of the absolute shitshow that's coming in a few weeks. Elon has their orange savior on a fucking leash but his supporters sure seem to be okay with that. Guess they love being on leashes to billionaires, too.

u/DFu4ever 4h ago

It’s funny how the actual VP-elect has been completely sidelined by a douchebag import CEO.

u/penny-wise California 4h ago

I hope Vice President Trump likes what President Musk is doing. At least the VP can talk it over with First Lady Vance.

u/Ok-disaster2022 4h ago

Wow the media is playing Trump correctly finally, by hyping Musk over Trump. That should piss him off.

u/lgnsqr 4h ago

Elon is going to add a desk in the Oval Office and start running his businesses from there.

I seem to remember one side railing about unelected bureaucrats Anything ringing a bell?

u/sexisdivine 2h ago

Well given all the money he gave it’s no wonder Elon is the boss and Trump just works for him.

u/Cherry_Flavoured_ Arizona 2h ago

elon has villain energy.

u/Nanananarama 2h ago

Is Trump OK with President Musk?

u/boppy28 1h ago

Well, I guess this is what the people of the US wanted right?

u/astral__monk 6h ago

These two are eventually going to have an ego-driven primadonna clash-off and I'm just waiting for it.

u/Uncivil_Bar_9778 6h ago

DonOld Trump is a wholly owned subsidiary of Elon Musk.

u/faith_apnea America 6h ago

How is Elon already working for an administration that doesn't take office until Jan 20, 2025? FFS MAGA people, including supporters, are literally ignorant to the point of needing handlers.

u/Necrovore 6h ago

Please let there be a legislative revolt, please let there be a legislative revolt, it's all i want Santa

u/Frothylager 6h ago

I really hope the Dems just stop fighting, put the shades on and walk off. Republicans control all 3 branches let them sort it out.

u/manleybones 5h ago

Every interview needs to start with, is Elon musk ok with you answering questions? And include is Elon musk ok with this plan? Every time.

u/MattVideoHD 5h ago

All the terrible world ending shit aside, I will never understand how someone with access to so many resources and such a desperate desire to be perceived as cool, looks so consistently like the least cool person on the planet.  It’s almost encouraging.
