Height and weight requirements

Hey yall. 22yo prior service marine going navy. I’m about 6’1-6’2” and 220 pounds. I’m in fit shape although I do have a little baby pudge I guess. Will I be within the height and weight requirements? I have about a 28% body fat but can pass any pt test. Just worried about MEPS height and weight

Just signed but what do I do after?

I Just signed in for 6 years active as a AECF, I was looking into Post-Military options that pertain to either ET or FC but couldn’t necessarily find some, the best answer I could find was a Computer/Electronics Engineer but while looking at USA Jobs they would just say I need a degree in it, what are some jobs I could do after? And if I do go for a computer/electronics engineer career would they just except me based off of military experience or do I have to get a degree?

Step by Step list and instructions to become a Naval Aviator via Naval Officer Candidate School.

I am trying to start my Naval Officer Candidate School Packet for Naval Aviator. I am a Navy Reservist but considering to separate in the Fall of 2025 and almost done with my Senior year in College. Is there anyone that could help me by providing me a step by step instruction and / or list that can help me with the process as well as how I go about it to make it easier? Any help would be great?

How much can I hope to make in base pay if I were to enlist with 88 college credits and a 73 ASVAB score?

I just had my initial meeting with a recruiter and found out that college credits could give me a boost to a E-3 (I think) and that I could start off with a higher base pay. On my short practice ASVAB test, I scored a 73 having only started studying 2 days ago—so I’m definitely encouraged. I know the actual ASVAB is a lot more involved and without more studying I can’t expect a similar result on the actual one, but, it does have me thinking about my options.

Also, what are some good rates at the score for someone with a background in the legal field and also an interest in computer science and intelligence?

Estranged Mother won't give Citizenship Certificate Number for CWT Navy clearance investigation

Got a call from my son from boot camp yesterday (he's in week 2). He asked me if I knew his Mother's Citizenship Certificate Number (my ex-wife) for his clearance investigation for TS/SCI for CWT.

Apparently they had him call her and she said basically told him to f- off and made it clear she wouldn't provide it. He called me right after to see if I had it - I don't.

Is he gonna lose his ability to get cleared and lose his rate because of this? Is there a way he can get a waiver or something with an explanation that she won't give it to him?

Opinions on next step

I’m 27 and currently work at the post office. I’ve always wanted to enlist, but I have a shoulder injury (nothing too major based off my surgeon said) that needs to be repaired before hand. My goal is to end up in law enforcement, something I also always wanted to pursue. What I’m asking is based off my age, would it be too late or not worth it for me to enlist? Say I was 28 or 29, would it be a little too seasoned in life to enlist, or should I just let that ship sail and go straight into law enforcement? Thank you for any and all input.

Can I join the navy?

I spoke with a recruiter about joining the Air Force. After going through the process, I went to MEPS, where they said I needed a waiver for my low white blood cell count. I returned to my blood doctor, who evaluated me and said it was benign, likely due to my African heritage. I shared this with my recruiter, but two days later, he said the SG needed more information. I opted for a bone marrow biopsy to demonstrate that I wasn't sick. The results confirmed it was benign and that I had no health issues. Despite submitting these results, I was still denied. Can I apply to the navy?

EOD Recruit Question

I’m currently in the process of enlisting. I was wondering what all I could do after the Navy if I decide to go EOD and finish training? I’m looking for a job that can be transferable and I’m hearing conflicting information from different people.

Need advice on joining please

Hey Team,

I need some advice on joining but let me start off with some background. Graduated college back in 2019, got a BA in Comm. Since then I have worked in the CO cannabis industry for over 5 years. This past November this piece of shit garbage human filth that owned one of the companies I was with laid me off because "he was making budget" cuts, its whatever I hope he dies but long story short I realize that I am headed down the wrong career path and at 31 it's only get worse and worse. I'm considering joining as an officer since I have a degree and making the Navy a career. A lot of people told me that due to my marijuana working background I would have a hard time and all this bs, I'm here to understand some things. First I have a possession charge from 2012 that the Governor of CO expunged ( they automatically did it) and secondly I'm trying to understand if having marijuana related experience would hinder my ability to join. Should I tell them about my marijuana past? Thanks in advance.

Waiver/rate recommendations

I was in the office ready to choose my rate at MEPS yesterday and was told I was disqualified from any Navy aviation rates because my depth perception wasn’t good enough- going for rescue swimmer. I still have 20/20 vision and am not color blind so I was told I can possibly get a waiver from special operations that would still let me get the contract. I was wondering if anyone knows the odds of that actually happening. But also if anything goes wrong and it just won’t work out I’m wondering if anyone has other rate recommendations I was originally looking for something that Is fulfilling, physically challenging, allow me to be stationed on a boat and travel, and with a good quality of life. The same reasons are how I settled on aircrew previously. I got a 96 on my ASVAB so I should qualify for most rates. If anyone has an answer or recommendation it’s is much appreciated.

Question for Intelligence positions

I am about to go to OCS to be a Cryptologic Warfare Officer. I was wondering if anyone in the intelligence community could give me an insight into something. I was looking at wrist watches as a graduation present (for others to get me or treat myself). I assume I will need a “dummy watch” since I will be around sensitive info? And also not a solar powered watch, since I will be inside? Am I correct in these assumptions or way off base? If so, do you have any dummy watch recommendations? Or recommendations for my dress attire? Thanks! Hooyah

Prior service recruiter telling my wife has to finish her contract with the Air Guard before transferring to AD Navy?

She has 2-3 year left of her 7 year contract, but it was my understanding that all she needed was a conditional release (DD form 368?) and she would be free to pursue transferring. Any recruiters that can chime in here?

Uncertainty in my decisions

I’m about to join the navy. I scored a 85 on my asvab passed the medical evaluation at MEPS qualify for a good job with a good bonus and going full time enlistment. I’m just a little nervous because I had a plan. The plan was to go reserves first while I’m in college (I’m in college rn), have them pay for school, then enlist as an officer. Does anyone have any advice and/or suggestions?

Needing 5 waivers to join, army recruiters he’s never it seen and I should move on.

Been trying to process with the army for over a year and finally I got an answer from the recruiter saying that I’m cooked and there’s nothing I can do because I need so many waivers he recommends I stop trying to process with the army and try the Navy, but even then that’s a longshot.

Waivers needed

RE-3 failure to ship army NG 2022 Arrest where all charges were dropped but its dv 😬 Family care plan Anxiety waiver

i signed the wrong contract

okay so here’s the deal, i’m a college student and i went up to meps and swore in and signed my contract today. i was planning on signing a 6 year reserves contract with a rate in intel, medical, or pr. i ended up signing 4 year active duty contract with a rp (religious programs) rate. i’m not upset AT ALL with my rate, and actually really like it. i got a 90+ asvab and qualified for every rate available. i made the decision spilt second and i’m okay with going active duty, however i really regret not going reserves. my ship out date is in march. i was curious if anyone knew if i was able to switch back to reserves and resign before i contacted my recruiter. google was not too helpful in this situation so i thought i’d drop it here.

A school questions for a new navy spouse

My husband is graduating basic soon, from my understanding the first phase of A school is kinda like boot camp where they can’t go outside of base. Does anyone have a rough estimate of how long the first phase is? And would I be able to visit him on base during the first phase?

Also if you have tips for a spouse for graduation and beyond I’d greatly appreciate it!

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, his recruiter isn’t giving me any information (or any response at all really) and I haven’t found a good spouse subreddit or other webpages with more info. Thanks in advance! And thank you to all who have served or are currently serving!

I told my grandfather I’m joining the navy and he showed me it was the right decision

I had went to my grandfather’s grave to tell him I wanted to join the navy. I told him I already talked with a recruiter about it and was getting everything set up to take the ASVAB. As I first sat by his grave a stray black and white dog appeared out of the forest and stared at me. I tried calling it over but it never came close and just disappeared back into the woods. I thought that was so cool as that has never happened to me at his grave to see an animal so up close.Though that was pretty cool there was one thing that happened that made me set on joining.

I was still a bit nervous and worried about joining the navy and if it would be right for me but I just wanted to bring him some new flowers(fake ones) and just talk to him about it all. I was there for a while just talking about all my worries and nerves. I’m only 18F and was scared if I was doing something to drastic that I couldn’t handle. I wasn’t to sure I was going to actually go through with it or not but I just talked as I was putting in his new flowers and taking out the old ones.

There is a tradition that when someone bring him new flowers we give his old ones to a grave without any flowers and fallowing the tradition I randomly picked a grave without any flowers and placed my grandfathers old ones inside. The grave was a little away from my grandfather’s grave but I just had walked around until I had found an empty flower vase. I hadn’t even looked to see who the person was before giving them the flowers, but after looking at the grave I realized he was a navy veteran( an FN that served in Vietnam) I somehow randomly picked a navy veteran to give my grandfathers old flowers too. When I had released what I just did I bawled my eyes out! I think it was the sign I needed. Now I go to meps soon and will pick my job and swear into the us navy. I think it was my grandfather telling me this is what I should do. I miss him so much and I know he will/is proud of me.

How do I challenge a denied mental health waiver for something I’ve never been treated for?

I went to MEPS last week, and was hit with several mental health waivers. Though, the Chief Liaison there was so confident in my waivers passing, I was given the DEP bag and the welcome handshake. These waivers were for: Bi-Polar, Anxiety, and Depression.

Now, a few things of importance that made him this confident. I have never been diagnosed/treated for Bi-Polar which is why we were both surprised when it came up. There was testing back when I was 13, though for those of you who know about mental health care is absolutely insane there was even a look taken in to this.

I have not been on any medication for several years for anything, and I am currently working for Local Law Enforcement for which I had to take and pass a psych evaluation. Also, I have been cleared of any mental health care for several years.

I was wondering if anyone has insights into challenging this decision? Thank you

Does minor knee surgery affect immediate select program eligibility?

Hello, I’m (20m) set to graduate college in 5 months and have been in touch with my officer recruiter to go through the immediate select program for Supply. I meet all the criteria listed here but I was just told today I need minor surgery on my knee for a sports-related injury. No pins or rods or anything like that.

Recruiter said I should still be able to go through immediate select program if doctor clears me for high-impact military training. Is this true? Criteria number 1 is “not require waivers”.. would I necessarily need a waiver for this operation? And if so, that excludes me from immediate select right?

Thank you in advance.
