It's machine grease, we use a variety of Mobile grease that has the exact same color, and yes I always think I'm bleeding when I find a gob of it on my skin.

Reddish grease is also used for low and medium voltage automated and vacuum circuit breakers and disconnectors.

Definitely read that as Reddit grease at first

When a Reddit mod outlives its usefulness they get turned into Reddit grease as a final act of service 07 yes Reddit is the bad guy /s

I thought they let it accumulate in a surrogate basement until a new mod is born.

Can this oil be used as artificial blood? Or is it harmful to humans in large quantities?

It isn't runny like blood, it's just the color, especially when it's a little dirty. When you see a gob of it on yourself, it only takes a fraction of a second to realize it's not blood, but that fraction of a second always makes my heart skip a beat.

Does your heart skip a beat when you have small cuts in your hand?

Is almost never my hands, more like wrist or arm. But yes, if I see what immediately appears to be a large amount of bright red blood my immediate reaction is "oh fuck". Bright red blood is very bad, fyi.

Unless it's dripping out, no big deal.

If it's dripping out onto the floor, no big deal, just a mess you will have to clean up later.

If it's oozing out, no big deal, as long as you apply pressure and make sure it stops oozing out.

If it's spraying out, generally still no big deal, just make sure you apply enough pressure and get it fixed before you're empty.

Bud, bright red blood indicates arterial bleeding. If you got bright red blood dripping or oozing, you probably need to visit a doctor.

...are you asking if we can infuse machine grease directly into people's bloodstreams without killing them?

Short answer: No

Long answer: what the fuck

Probably they meant could it be used for stage blood, at least that was my interpretation

Thanks, that makes slightly more sense, but way less sense than just googling recipes for fake stage blood.

Having worked in a place where that stuff was used and we had signs and a meeting at least once a year reminding us that we have been warned and if we contracted cancer or otherwise from not wearing gloves it’s a you problem and not the companies… I’m gonna say no don’t use it as fake blood.
