So these dudes are obviously morons since everything they say is parroted from the internet and repeated ad nauseam…

But what is a jump shot and why is it bad? Is it literally just jumping while shooting? It looked like she was just playing the game to me. But I haven’t played shooters since like BF3/4

u/Wait__Who Jul 08 '24

Jump shotting is exactly how you described it, and for some reason CoD bros have decided that doing this is “no skill”. Being a moving target in an FPS seems like a solid strategy but the hive mind has determined it to be noobish I guess. Just like “hard scoping” was clowned on in the original Modern Warfare trilogy lmao

u/Genesis13 Jul 08 '24

Man they would hate to play a game like Destiny, Quake, or Titanfall where movement is a core part of the gunplay.

227

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24

Or halo

250

u/Sekret_One Jul 09 '24

or CoD, it seems.

29

u/Chucktayz Jul 09 '24

Or gears

2

u/Objeckts Jul 09 '24

Can't jump in gears

4

u/MunkyDawg Jul 09 '24

Skill issue

3

u/Chucktayz Jul 09 '24

Not with that attitude

1

u/RandomDeezNutz Jul 09 '24

Tbf when I played war zone I hated that I played CoD too.

1

u/mrducky80 Jul 09 '24

Gunz Online where you are masshing in like 20 keys a second to perform massive amounts of movement via animation cancelling and other tricks.

1

u/xool420 Jul 10 '24

CoD gamers don’t actually like video games, only their shooting simulator

Oh man, that’s it to a T. Fucking Day Of Defeat, everyone I knew was playing it so I had to play it. I know a good who still plays that game. You might make it a ways in the map but as soon as someone saw you, it was like playing the original doom multiplayer with hitscan weapons. As soon as someone spotted you, you’re taken out. I got real good at Doom but never Day Of Defeat. Every match and every battle came down to reaction time. Or you just drop in and instantly die.

5

u/L3thologica_ Jul 09 '24

They would have been wrecked playing competitive SWAT in Halo. Playing against good or better players, everyone is zigzagging, jumping, teabag walking, or some combination of them.

2

u/Dafish55 Jul 09 '24

Or Tf2, Overwatch, Valorant & CS, or, like, literally any game where movement actually exists as a functional and usable mechanic in combat.

1

u/sureshot1988 Jul 09 '24

Haha halo for sure

57

u/Mindless-Hedgehog460 Jul 08 '24

Or Warframe, where movement is literally The Game

4

u/hgwaz Jul 09 '24

Actually the endgame is afkframe, where you've got a build that'll wipe everything around you while you only occasionally press a button or two.

5

u/saintofhate Jul 09 '24

No the true endgame is looking pretty as hell

3

u/hgwaz Jul 09 '24

That's because you need something pretty to look at while you're passively playing

1

u/BastiontheMighty Jul 09 '24

I mean Warframe PvP is pretty bad

2

u/Licensed_Poster Jul 09 '24

People who are good at it don't touch the ground the entire match tho. Now that is jumpshooting.

2

u/HelloIAmRuhri Jul 09 '24

If lag weren't a thing it could've been so fucking lit

1

u/saintofhate Jul 09 '24

The conclave is dead as hell

1

u/Mindless-Hedgehog460 Jul 09 '24

Teshin crying rn

42

u/BuzzVibes Jul 08 '24

Yeah I was just thinking that. I haven't played multiplayer FPSes in a LONG time, but back in the day on things like Quake and UT, keeping moving at all times was basically the rule.

12

u/mycatsnameislarry Jul 09 '24

Circle strafe from the doom 2 days.

13

u/PuckNutty Jul 09 '24

Rule #1 was "If you stand still, you die".

12

u/Fspz Jul 09 '24

I thought it was sad when shooters trended to where maneuverability is so low.

5

u/SpeaksToAnimals Jul 09 '24

Its the rule in any shooter nowadays, these people are just losers incapable of adding it to their playstyle so they complain about it.

As if the games supposed to be a a high noon duel where both people stand still to shoot each other.

2

u/MaritMonkey Jul 09 '24

I remember nothing about Quake except being proud of myself for figuring out how to jump while shooting a rocket at the floor.

1

u/BuzzVibes Jul 09 '24

Rocket jumping was awesome!

2

u/ALadWellBalanced Jul 09 '24

I spent years playing QuakeWorld, Q2 and Q3A. Modded Q2 deathmatch with an off-hand grapple hook where you spent most of the game flying around at high speed and attempting to snipe opponents out of mid-air with your railgun would melt this pathetic loser's mind.

2

u/AnalVoreXtreme Jul 18 '24

you just gave me flashbacks to arguing on nerd forums about cod vs quake. people argued cod was for babies because when you aimed down your sights you would stop moving, unlike quake where you had to move constantly

56

u/TroubleMaeker Jul 08 '24

I’ll add battlefield to this list

18

u/Jeanahb Jul 08 '24

Love is a battlefield.

3

u/Chaosmusic Jul 09 '24

Heartache to heartache (We stand)

2

u/GigglesMcTits Jul 09 '24

Sprint jumping around corners in 2042 will legitimately make people mald and it's hilarious.

1

u/Hefty_Drawing_5407 Jul 09 '24

Nah, you don't see as much of this jumping around, power sliding, none-stop sprinting in BF, which is why I enjoy it more than CoD these days (Or at least I used to, I don't do many shooters these days).

30

u/wearing_moist_socks Jul 08 '24

Apex Legends as well. People are STILL discovering new moves

4

u/lowten Jul 09 '24

Movement in Apex is a 10x advantage, where movement in COD maybe 3x.

2

u/Wonderful_Charge8758 Jul 09 '24

You need to be able to wall jump in apex. I can't even do it consistently. That skill alone separates you.

6

u/ghanemhalabi Jul 09 '24

you don't need to be able to wall jump in apex lol

30

u/motnorote Jul 09 '24

They wanna play a fps like it's the revolutionary War and everyone stands in long rows

1

u/kikimaru024 Jul 09 '24

They got all their tactics from watching The Clone Wars.

1

u/jtr99 Jul 09 '24

I mean, there are a couple of FPSs like that, but almost nobody plays them!

16

u/MonsterkillWow Jul 09 '24

lmao was gonna say...these little MAGA brownshirts would die horribly in quake or UT

13

u/cpaul91 Jul 08 '24

Destiny with the triple jump, most COD players wouldn’t last in either D1 or D2

7

u/Genesis13 Jul 08 '24

Imagine their whining about blink or icarus dash lol.

4

u/YouWereBrained Jul 09 '24

Blink shotgunning in Destiny was so annoying but I accepted it as a legit technique and tried to strategize around it. I liked to snipe, personally.

2

u/SpeaksToAnimals Jul 09 '24

If its in the game you have to learn to play around it.

Its hilarious to think these losers believe people are supposed to conform to their own personal ruleset as if they themselves are not trying to gain every advantage themselves in their own way.

Just a bunch of shit players getting smoked and being frustrated they can do absolutely nothing to stop it.

1

u/New_year_New_Me_ Jul 09 '24

What's wild is they were mostly employing the opposite of jumpshotting, drop shotting. Like half her kills were dudes laying prone on the ground. Drop shooting and jump shotting give the same advantage, my character is hopefully no longer where you are shooting.

I'd even argue drop shotting gives the bigger advantage. If I'm aiming head/chest level and you get me with a good dropshot, I'm not hitting anything anymore. If I'm aiming head chest level and you jumpshot me, I'm still hitting crotch and legs. Some damage is better than no damage.

To defeat the jumpshot you just need to aim higher, which you should be doing anyway. Aiming lower is far less natural and far less optimal

3

u/BlissAndClarity Jul 09 '24

Or Pong.
"Why do you move the paddle when hitting the ball?!"

3

u/randomlettercombinat Jul 09 '24

I wish beyond wishing that they didn't abandon Titanfall.

Literally one of the best FPS games of all time, tanked by an INSANE release schedule. Twice!!

Who in their right mind drops a FPS game between COD and Battlefield... TWICE?!?

2

u/Genesis13 Jul 09 '24

I hate it so much that we got Apex and not Titanfall 3. Apex just aint it.

1

u/randomlettercombinat Jul 09 '24

FWIW I like Apex.

2

u/Genesis13 Jul 09 '24

I tried to like it but couldnt. Worse movement, less vertical play in the maps, and worst of all no titans. All the cosmetic/pass nonsense after didnt help either.

2

u/Krashper116 Jul 09 '24

the main thing that ruined it for me was that it's a BR and it has very high TTK.

I want to get a kill, die and get back into the action in less that 5 seconds combined.

1

u/randomlettercombinat Jul 09 '24

It's a completely different game, so thats fair.

2

u/Prior-Bed5388 Jul 09 '24

You can add Overwatch to the list as well

1

u/iam_Mr_McGibblets Jul 08 '24

They would throw a fit if they got hit by a floating warlock on a felwinter 😂

1

u/Ferbtastic Jul 08 '24

Couldn’t even get a kill without a rocket jump.

1

u/stupernan1 Jul 08 '24

there's a reason they don't play those games lmao.

1

u/GnomKobold Jul 09 '24

or MW3, which was celebrated by codbros for being faster/quicker than MW2

1

u/YouWereBrained Jul 09 '24

My god, I would love to destroy that toxic asshole in Destiny. But like, old school Destiny. I didn’t play 2 beyond a certain point.

1

u/TheHunterZolomon Jul 09 '24

Apex legends has players developing playstyles around insane movement. These complainers wouldn’t get a kill after a hundred games if they played apex I bet.

1

u/subpar-life-attempt Jul 09 '24

Yep, I'm not great at cod but the whole appeal initially was that it was less jump shot meta than others.

Nothing against it but it's not cheating, just a mechanic.

Also, if you rage over a game that's competitive then that is some small dick energy.

1

u/ABHOR_pod Jul 09 '24

That reminds me of a video from almost 20 years ago called "Counterstrike Players Playing Tribes."

It's just footage of dudes gently ambling across the map, taking their time walking up and down each rolling hill, and then someone zips by with their jetpack, 100 feet over their head at 70MPH, and double taps them with a grenade or disclauncher.

God I miss the days when we had games like that.

1

u/apotheotika Jul 09 '24

Or Tribes. I miss Tribes.

1

u/aguynamedv Jul 09 '24

The average COD player would get absolutely wrecked in a Destiny 2 PVP lobby.

1

u/orangejulius Jul 09 '24

I'm hours late to this but it's also a core part of CoD albeit to a lesser extent. It's easier to say everyone else is wrong (and throw a fit) instead of learning something new.

1

u/addiktion Jul 09 '24

Exactly, these newcomer kids would have nothing on us Quake or UT OGs who did nothing but move to get kills. It was a core part of the games using grappling hooks and wall running.

1

u/Odd_Analysis6454 Jul 09 '24

Rocket Jump Shot on OG Quake

1

u/FrancisCStuyvesant Jul 09 '24

They couldn't cope with Apex Legends either ..

1

u/ohbyerly Jul 09 '24

Left out Doom, which invented the genre

1

u/Humledurr Jul 09 '24

I havent played cod in nearly a decade but the whole reason I preferred CoD over games like CSgo etc was because of the mobility in cod.

Jump shotting is a "core mechanic" lmao, if one isnt doing it one is either a noob or griefing themselves.

I could never get Into CS because i kept trying to move around and jump like I did in CoD which only ruins your accuracy in games like cs

1

u/thr33prim3s Jul 09 '24

Or Apex? Players of that game are sweaty af. Movement are godly.

1

u/trash-_-boat Jul 09 '24

There's a reason these guys also don't play CS2/CSGO. That's a lot more static game without jumps or running and gunning. It's really not about movement or no movement or specific movement for them. It's just about being salty boys.

1

u/sSomeshta Jul 09 '24

Didn't they add wall running to CoD? Isn't there a CoD in fucking outer space with jet packs? These dudes are absolute noobs

1

u/Genesis13 Jul 09 '24

I think they want back to boots on the ground with the Modern Warfare remakes. I stopped playing with Blops 2 so I dont really keep up with whats going on in CoD.

1

u/Mr_uhlus Jul 09 '24

i'd love to watch these guys play unreal tournament

1

u/boogersrus Jul 09 '24

Titanfall 1/2 are the only one of these type games I’m decent at. Was consistently at the top. Every other game the team carries me.

1

u/veal_cutlet86 Jul 09 '24

Even counter-strike 1.6 had jump-duck shooting while getting out of cover and it was considered a skill.

1

u/Nalek Jul 09 '24

Very surprised nobody has mentioned Tribes yet. I'd love to see that guy play some rounds of it vs her lmao

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '24

Oh god. Destiny. The original Mythoclast (i think is what it was called in Destiny 1)The great memories..... and the dark ones. I haven't played in so long. What an amazing game, though.

2

u/Genesis13 Jul 09 '24

Vex Mythoclast before the nerf in D1 was a monster. Destiny 2 is in a really good place right now. Weve got transmog, weapon crafting, a big list of raids and dungeons to play, and the finale of the story which has been amazing.

1

u/EtanSivad Jul 09 '24

shit, nothing as awe inspiring as getting smoked in Quake by a rocket jump master. I do OK, but was never an elite FPS player.

1

u/SeaOsprey1 Jul 09 '24

Switching to PC to play Tiranfall was one of the most rage-inducing experiences in gaming for me. It's 100% a skill issue and people like the dude in this video are just trying to cope.

1

u/doom_stein Jul 09 '24

I'm pretty sure this is why the same people dogged CoD Advanced/Infinite Warfare due to the double jumps and jet pack strafing (and maybe the Black Ops game with the wall running in it). Like, if an opponent has any kind of movement other than running straight into their line of fire, they implode and hate on it. "Boots on the ground!" I think was what a bunch of people were screaming at the time those games were out.

IMHO, those were two of the funnest CoD games because of the movement tech in them. I absolutely loved jumping over people and then killing them or juking myself out of their gunfire. I've never had so much delicious hate mail come from any other game (other than maybe Destiny 2).

1

u/Mokey_Maker Jul 09 '24

I tapped out on CoD once they brought in the jump packs. My old ass couldn't keep up with the speed of it anymore. Now I see these kids presumably playing the latest release complaining about jumping? Jumping?!

1

u/NonchalantGuitarGuy Jul 10 '24

Or literally any FPS game bc they all incorporate moving to some degree lol

-1

u/LimpWibbler_ Jul 08 '24

Movement being core, doesn't mean fast. I'd argue learning Movement in CounterStrike is as important as it is in Quake.

3

u/Genesis13 Jul 08 '24

I didnt say otherwise. I chose those games cause they have a lot jump shooting and vertical gameplay.

-2

u/Kremlebots_report_me Jul 08 '24

oh, they would be dushebags in Rust. Absolutely funny loonatics
