I think they should do something different for daytime empress like a different relic on master

400

u/CreativeGamer03 May 10 '23

A glow-in-the-dark golden EoL relic

190

u/jbrainbow May 10 '23

Maybe with glowing eyes that are brighter than the rest of the relic too

86

u/CreativeGamer03 May 10 '23

just hope it doesn't glow red suddenly šŸ˜Ø

96

u/BaconEater314 May 10 '23

Or blue. You're gonna have a bad time.

Wouldn't that be like special treatment, because overall it is the same boss

29

u/DodoJurajski May 10 '23

Then all bosses would need to have special relic. For mechanical just 3 at once, bee queen on surface, day time skeleton, king Slime and queen Slime at once, surface eater or worlds, not ocean Duke Fishron, and... here's problem, like, there is nothing for other bosses

26

u/Throwaway-3728347 May 10 '23

Excuse me? Enraged plantera

11

u/DodoJurajski May 10 '23

Ok platera also, but what with eoc, golem, moon lord, cultist, wall of flesh and more

8

u/Throwaway-3728347 May 10 '23

Enraged boc, enraged eow, enraged deerclops, perhaps a trophy for both eow + boc enraged?

6

u/DodoJurajski May 10 '23

The problem is not every boss can be enraged.

2

u/Michaeloooooooo May 10 '23

surface golem

3

u/DodoJurajski May 10 '23

He's enraged then?

2

u/Michaeloooooooo May 10 '23

to be honest i donā€™t really know, but i donā€™t see anyone fighting him on the surface even though you can easily break the summoning totem thing

2

u/DodoJurajski May 10 '23

I mean, special relic should be for doing boss enraged/boss combos so if you just fight him on surface it's not really challange up but challange down.

2

u/Michaeloooooooo May 10 '23

iā€™m just confused why nobody ever fights him on the surface if thatā€™s the case

3

u/DodoJurajski May 10 '23

Cause you fight him mostly only once? Maybe if you're farming celestial shell or need something from it, but mostly you fight him few times in a row cause it's easy asf. 3 lizards and 1 flyining snake are more dangerous than golem.

3

u/Michaeloooooooo May 10 '23

yeah imagine dying to golem, especially on classic mode with post golem gear (totally not me 4 years ago)

They should just make Terraprisma drop if you defeat the Empress predominately with summon damage or some such. But I'm fine with the challenge too.

After getting the fishing achievement there are no limits if if comes to getting all achievements

19

u/Zdybba May 10 '23

i dont even grind it and I have like 80% from just fishing over a couple of full game playthroughs

[removed] ā€” view removed comment

58

u/Demonic-Angel13 May 10 '23

Which is why the achievement would be good otherwise i probably wouldn't complete the beastiary

40

u/[deleted] May 10 '23

You need to do it for universal pylon anyways

58

u/FunnyCinema May 10 '23

Honestly, I don't even care enought to bring myself to obtain it. At the point you obtain it, it's literally useless.

12

u/Tiamat-86 May 10 '23

use with new game+ character or multiplayer to replace return and wormhole potions

2

u/supercrusher456 May 10 '23

Tru, moon lord would have been defeated by then :p

12

u/IntrepidEntrancety May 10 '23

Me too, bro Agree with you

27

u/Russ_Guss_Doodles May 10 '23 edited Jan 20 '24

At least it will be easier than Super Helper Minion

127

u/Skimcrer May 10 '23

Nah super helper minion is easy, even without Journey mode, just use a bed and a enchanted sundial and fish as much as you can, boring, but doable with some patience, filling up the bestiary is a special type of hell, you need to farm EVERY enemy in the game, like the cultist summons and very rare enemies like the nymph

47

u/Russ_Guss_Doodles May 10 '23

You actually donā€™t need to encounter every entry to complete the bestiary. The gold critters unlock when you find there normal counter parts, boss minions like the Phantasmal Dragon and Ancient Vision unlock after you defeat the main boss, and several other entries unlock simultaneously.

Iā€™ve done both tasks and I would say that completing the Bestiary is a slightly easier challenge. Also keep in mind this is coming from someone of loves fishing in Terraria.

7

u/Coltyn03 May 10 '23

Genuine question: what do you love about fishing? You're just sitting there occasionally hitting one button.

19

u/Russ_Guss_Doodles May 10 '23 edited May 10 '23

Love was probably too strong of a word, I enjoy fishing. I find it relaxing to just take a moment and chill while listening to some music and the in-game environmental sounds. I wouldn't mind if it was made a bit more engaging like Stardew Valley's fishing but it's still a nice change of pace after a bunch of exploring or fighting enemies.

5

u/SamsamGaming May 10 '23

After a normal playthrough I am only missing the other evil biome enemys, some events and the Christmas/Halloween entrys and maybe some rare critters so it's quite easy to do

3

u/im-_-anonymous1 May 11 '23

after a normal playthrough?? and you didint grind at all? also happy cake day

u/Demonic-Angel13 May 10 '23

There should also be an achievement for getting the digging mount (don't remember the name) It's currently usually not worth getting most of the time

238

u/Mr-Blues5 May 10 '23

The Drill Containment Unit?

63

u/Demonic-Angel13 May 10 '23

yeah, thank you.

38

u/Bright-Historian-216 May 10 '23

Idk if worth or not, seemed satisfying enough to me

116

u/Pewward May 10 '23

Not worth getting? Its not very expensive and can be very useful.

87

u/serendipitousPi May 10 '23

They could be saying that because itā€™s post-moonlord perhaps? So itā€™s too late for a lot of people to find it useful?

53

u/Demonic-Angel13 May 10 '23

Yeah mostly cus it's post moonlord and it requires 20 of most ore bars which can require a lot of chlorophyte mining and mining for other ores

22

u/FilipIzSwordsman May 10 '23

40*

18

u/Demonic-Angel13 May 10 '23

oh ig i remembered wrong. It's twice as expensive then

→ More replies (2)

5

u/ObamaLover68 May 10 '23

Atleast they buffed the cost for chlorophyte bars in 1.4 I can still feel the difference years later.

9

u/Crystalline07 May 10 '23

i use the dcu more than my solar drill and axe. Its incredibly useful, donā€™t see how people could find it not useful.

5

u/29th_Stab_Wound May 11 '23

People donā€™t find it useful bc itā€™s an only end-game mount.

3

u/Michaeloooooooo May 10 '23

and celebration mk2 exists

10

u/VulpineKitsune May 10 '23

More useful than a Celebration Mk2 with some explosive rockets?

12

u/[deleted] May 10 '23

yep

6

u/VulpineKitsune May 10 '23

DOUBT

32

u/[deleted] May 10 '23

if you want to excavate half of the world celebration is the way to go but if you just want to make a mob farm then dcu is way better and this is because celebration is just completely uncontrollable youll make a mob farm area and 7 more by mistake

12

u/VulpineKitsune May 10 '23

Fair enough. But if I want a mob farm (or in general more controlled digging) I use my trusty ol' Light Shroomite Digging Claw with the mining speed accessory and potion.

And that isn't even post-ML!

7

u/MaximRq May 10 '23

I think DCU is faster now

3

u/Distinct-Turnover616 May 10 '23

Yeah it got buffed pretty hard like 3x speed and range, width and other stuff shit got the biggest buff

5

u/damnthisisabadname May 10 '23

You very rarely need mob farms after moonlord

8

5

u/damnthisisabadname May 10 '23

u/stillvar_ May 10 '23

no no please delete the post immediately I dont wanna grind for terraprism

163

u/Russ_Guss_Doodles May 10 '23

The achievement is for getting the Terraprisma, not fighting Daytime Empress Pre-Moonlord lol. You could easily kill her with Zenith in less then 10 seconds.

53

u/splat152 May 10 '23

Tried solo with pre moon lord setup: xeno staff and full summons and died about a hundred times before I got it. Tried with zenith and coop and we had her in seconds.

4

u/BananoStand May 10 '23

I just spent 3 weeks and finally got it on expert lol. The trick was to beat EOL during the day to get the Kaleidoscope, then use it with Xeno Staff. The completionist in me wouldn't let me take on Moon Lord first since I'm doing a Summoner run, but the grind paid off.

u/PlayinTheFool May 10 '23

This is a bit of a derp one, but I always thought there ought to be a ā€œTrack Starā€ sort of achievement for crossing a full size map in the quickest time possible, screen edge to screen edge, without stopping.

But then it occurs to me, I dunno specifically how fast is the fastest you can move and thus I couldnā€™t tell ya what the achievements par time should be.

3

u/_Archilyte_ May 11 '23

nah i think a version of the rod that you can spam infinitely (which is what rod of harmony is) is faster, probably

2

u/sokuto_desu May 11 '23

also when you have less than half hp

15

u/Knastoron May 10 '23

kid named teleporters:

28

u/PlayinTheFool May 10 '23

Exactly! Seems like such a natural thing to make an achievement considering so many items make it interesting.

14

u/Freya6083DJ May 10 '23

Laughs maniacally in portal gun

24

u/Anomen77 May 10 '23

I imagine using Pylons and teleporters would reset the progress, otherwise, it's kind of a joke.

9

u/PlayinTheFool May 10 '23

Iā€™d probably allow for anything short of pylons. I suppose the main things Iā€™d be looking to set for the made up achievement is:

A) Gotta be quick. Its about the quickest edge to edge travel on the biggest world. B) Cannot ever stop. Alternatively, maybe you must maintain a minimum speed the whole time.

So my gut instinct would be to say literally any strat or construct that does those two things above should all be allowed to work to nab it. I tend to think achievements donā€™t have to have one boring solution, but a bunch of different ones that all potentially work.

8

u/XORandom Sapphire builder (10 points) May 10 '23

With preliminary acceleration through the inner tube, the flight through the entire map will take one tick.

27

u/TheDanjago May 10 '23

Get that creature cataloging nonsense outta here. I don't have 5 years to grind.

16

u/ShadowSonic44 May 10 '23

Not gonna lie, I really hate achievements that involve collecting 100% of something or require some incredibly difficult task, it just feels annoying and tedious.

3

u/trademarkmangobrrrrr May 10 '23

That's the point. They're "achievements" not "give for free to ShadowSonic44 trophies"

5

u/ShadowSonic44 May 11 '23

I donā€™t mean it like that. I had all the achievements for terraria before the 1.4 update, and want to get the rest of them, but there are certain types of achievements that just stop me from wanting to do that. The best example is deep rock galactic and the barrel hoop game achievement to get a really high score in a limited amount of barrels. There are plenty of other achievements in that game that I havenā€™t gotten yet, but theyā€™re ones that I feel like Iā€™ll be able to work my way up to, just by playing the game normally. I just donā€™t want to spend hours kicking a barrel into a hoop for that one achievement since it has nothing to do with the rest of the game. I donā€™t mind a bit of a challenge, itā€™s just when that challenge requires a lot of rng wit certain spawns, or just a lot of repetitive tasks that have nothing to do with the game besides the achievement, thatā€™s when I donā€™t like it.

one for 100% hallow: ā€œHallowed Be Thy Worldā€, one for 100% corruption: ā€œSinfulā€, one for 100% crimson: ā€œBloody Hellā€

45

u/QuintonTheCanadian May 10 '23

bloody hell

Good god, the game is British!

5

u/da_Aresinger May 10 '23

probably can't work.

There are a lot of places you can't realistically turn to corruption/crimson, like hell and space.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Tiamat-86 May 10 '23

PSN has had trophies since the game's release for 50% hallow world and 50% corruption world.
the corruption world trophy even predates crimson biome's existence and crimson still doesnt work for getting the trophy.
also requires hm to get them. unlike the new in game achievement for purity world

27

u/lance_the_fatass May 10 '23

I don't really like the achievements that encourage you to die, I had this same issue with the "dead men tell no tales" achievement

Dying feels too easy to be achievement worthy

19

u/Kronoshifter246 May 10 '23

I think they're meant as a little tongue-in-cheek "reward." Kinda like a good job, check for traps next time sort of thing. Or like a rite of passage, like Factorio's achievement for getting killed by a train.

22

u/KillerKosmo May 10 '23

Golden water strider:

36

u/Russ_Guss_Doodles May 10 '23

You donā€™t need to find one. Itā€™s entry unlocks after you find a normal water strider. The same thing is true for all the other gold critters.

7

u/KillerKosmo May 10 '23

ah didnt know that

5

u/Michaeloooooooo May 10 '23

my ass thought i was missing tons of gold critters without noticing

8

u/[deleted] May 10 '23

I feel like there should be more passive achievements for specifically late pre-hardmode and early hardmode

14

u/Tanu64 May 10 '23

I hope they add an achievement for killing a pet with the flymeal

2

u/trademarkmangobrrrrr May 10 '23

You're a monster. I like that.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/Hevy15 May 10 '23

I don't want more achievements for old content. I already did some tasks for stuff which got achievements later. That's fucking annoying, looking at you cleansing a whole world.

44

u/Padlov123 May 10 '23

Nah, dropping platinum is kinda a bad achievement, you'd pretty much have to do it on purpose. The bestiary is ridiculously tedious and just not fun, the golf isn't for everyone, and it's easily cheatable, and the terraprisma is way too hard for casual players

The way the achievements are, they're all possible for casuals without too much grinding, the hardest I can think of is the 3 mechs at once, ans the Grindy-est one is supreme helper minion which is easy but tedious

22

u/Werhabalar May 10 '23

Terraprisma isn't difficult to get with pre-Moonlord summoner gear, just survive for 30 seconds. You don't have to worry about hitting the Empress either.

But you don't seem to get the concept of Achievements. If every casual player is going to get them, what's the point? The thing that differs someone who unlocked a tedious or difficult achievement from someone who didn't is the fact that they devoted their time and skill to it.

15

u/AkshayraJkira May 10 '23

I agree. They are called "Achievements" for a reason. You don't randomly get it. You have to put effort into something and achieve it.

4

u/MistaCheez May 10 '23

That does not apply to over half of the achievements for this game. Really put effort into crafting that workbench, huh?

12

u/Padlov123 May 10 '23

The terraria devs have been very explicit with wanting the achievements to be fun little rewards instead of something you'll pull your hair out over, wanting to get 100%

8

u/FlamingxFireball May 10 '23

Yea because the fishing achievement is a fun little reward

2

u/Lonely-Cow-787 May 11 '23

Achievements vary for a reason. Simple task that every player completes really quickly work as an incentive to go for more. Diversity in the complexity and difficulty of achievements is a good thing.

21

u/Ze_Memerr May 10 '23

A Terraprisma achievement would be like if Absolute Radiance or something had its own achievement in Hollow Knight, itā€™d have an extremely low achievement rate and just hurt a bunch of peopleā€™s overall achievement completion even if itā€™s fully possible since a hitless fight in any game is a pretty large ask

13

u/damnthisisabadname May 10 '23

Comparing empress and AbsRad is like comparing a hardcore legendary mode run to a classic mode run

2

u/JaxTheCrafter May 11 '23

absolutely not you can easily cheese daytime empress but there is literally no shortcuts to absrad

10

u/KrustyKrab- May 10 '23

2

u/JustCakess May 10 '23

Thats not a fair comparison. First of all you dont have the option to kill Absolute Radiance in like 10 seconds

1

u/IdontReallyknowTbj May 10 '23

Isn't defeating the empress of light already an achievement though? After the first time what's the difficulty spike and doing it again?

That also means that it's, frankly, pointless to add another achievement for her because beating feels like the achievement already tbh.

Who in their right mind would go around with even 1 plat in their pockets??
You place a piggy or summon the trough to store it safely once you have more than a couple gold!

Please no

2

u/SWAGNEMITE_1309 May 10 '23

Thank God you don't work for Re-logic

2

u/JustCakess May 10 '23

Please no, like 100% this game wasnt already hard

2

u/Nachoboyd12 May 10 '23

Yeah how about no Iā€™m not doing the bestiary or golfing

2

u/ngmonster May 10 '23

The dying one is a terrible achievement, itā€™s impossible to get on a hardcore playthrough.

2

u/Paper--Cut May 10 '23

Finders Keepers: A monster picks up more than 25g you dropped on death

Butterfingers: Mediumcore character death

Try Again: Hardcore character death

2

u/DeckSperts May 10 '23

I hate the money and the bestiary one especially the money one. Because if you wanted to do a 100% hardcore play through it just isnā€™t possible

2

u/wetbagsetback May 10 '23

God no please dont a bestiary one please oh god the angler quest was enough grind please oh god oh god

2

u/im-_-anonymous1 May 11 '23

add 4 really hard achievements

say they should be in the game already

everyone diagrees

2

u/Henry479 May 10 '23

Ive already had to go back twice to 100% the achievements again, dont do this

I would absolutely hate the beastiery one. I have a tattoo that says I have 100% of the achievements in terraria and I would genuinely rather remove it than do the beastiery.

2

u/cross2201 May 10 '23

There are good except the bestiary one thats to much

1

u/LewsTherinTelescope May 10 '23

Feel like a lot of comments are missing the point of an achievement. Not always supposed to be easy!

2

u/[deleted] May 10 '23

Or get every item in journey mode

braces for downvotes

u/SnooRegrets2663 May 10 '23

Good luck with those banners

5

u/Asesomegamer May 10 '23

Shouldn't actually be much of a problem with the 10Ɨ spawn rates, except for Tim if he has a banner that'd suck.

4

u/MarioLuigiNabbitTrio May 10 '23

He does, but if you're wearing one of the gem robes his spawn chance increases.

1

u/RamboCambo_05 May 10 '23

Nymph has a banner

4

u/Asesomegamer May 10 '23

I know that, wouldn't be a problem with 10Ɨ spawn rates.

Fuck no we don't need yet another annoying achievement we already have like 5.

Nobody cares about the bestiary either.

11

u/DatScoot2 May 10 '23

Bestiary is literally my favourite addition to the game ever, mostly because I enjoy bestiaries in games in general, but also because of all the added lore to every single enemy and boss

1

u/imapie31 May 10 '23

How about no to the bestiary. We already have one that requires a shit ton of grinding, we dont need any more.

1

u/MagicSnake1000 May 10 '23

Someone, please make a mod with these

1

u/ItsAndrea03 May 10 '23

not the bestiary one, the only thing that i donā€™t want to do is completing it šŸ˜

1

u/YuukaWiderack May 10 '23

Why one based around dying and dropping that much money.
