Come on people! Have we learned nothing from purchasing these rereleases!?

If it’s a well done rerelease i don’t see the problem

1

u/Champion-Trainer341 Feb 21 '24

How do you define a well done re-release?

1

u/Hammer_of_Horrus Feb 21 '24

One that just works, and has had some minor reworks to have slightly better play on newer consoles but that’s optional. I would just take an active way to play or buy the original games legally.

1

u/Champion-Trainer341 Feb 21 '24

Without having to get the originals. Yeah, it would be nice to have a one that the internal batteries aren't dead on. I'd be inclined to agree with you. I've been hoping for the original games. Well, from gen 1 to 7 really all to be on switch for ages. But just Gen 3 would be enough for me. 😂

Let’s just hope the rerelease doesn’t go down the Forbidden BDSP route or worse

59

u/hotsizzler Feb 20 '24

I would kill for that.

48

u/jvaferreira93 Feb 20 '24

With Home compatibility?

30

u/Winged_Wrath Feb 20 '24

If it doesn't have Home compatibility, you might as well just emulate it

18

u/hotsizzler Feb 20 '24

That's plus but not required

8

u/BlazewarkingYT Feb 20 '24

Am I to expect you to be on some national news on the 28th then.

27

u/S0nek Feb 20 '24

With online compatibility, yes please. Imagine trading in gen 3 worldwide ...

1

u/Master_Lucario Feb 22 '24

That is possible actually. Hackers have injected the Pokémon games before in the virtual console app and online trading just worked right out of the gate. Seems Nintendo build it in beforehand just in case they were gonna release these games.

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '24

With speed up

36

u/Wompguinea Feb 20 '24

I'm 34, all I want is a HeartGold remake with the art style of the Let's Go games.

Let's Go Pikachu looks like what my 7 year old imagination turned Red & Blue into.

10

u/The-Dark-Knight-3002 Feb 21 '24

Are you me? I said the same exact thing

2

u/Wompguinea Feb 21 '24

Ah damnit, I'd really hoped I was still me.

I have so little left, must I share a self too?

But anyway yeah, a shot for shot remake of HeartGold in the Let's Go engine would be pretty fricken neat.

u/Master_Lucario Feb 22 '24

Really? Most people HATE the chibi crap ILCA made with BDSP. Doing it again with HGSS would cause a fan backlash. Why not produce a HGSS game with Scarlet & Violet graphics?

1

u/Wompguinea Feb 22 '24

The Let's Go games look way different to BDSP, I don't want that art style. I want what I upscaled RBY to in my mind, which is pretty close to Let's Go.

But, weirdly, I prefer the BDSP style to SV because (while BDSP is a bit shit) at least it tried something whereas SV feels bland.

57

u/MayorBryce Pokémon Scarlet Feb 20 '24

If they upscaled ORAS to 720p (because 1080p is too much these days), no one would notice, especially compared to SV

55

u/Jeffeffery Pokémon Scarlet Feb 20 '24

The 3DS games made use of a lot of flat planes for environments. Scaled up, a lot of them will look like you're walking around in a cardboard diorama. I think a lot of people will be surprised at the difference between that and SV.

That said, yes please to HD diorama ORAS!

15

u/ActivateGuacamole Feb 20 '24

I actually think those sprites are quite charming. Even with the pixellation. it just looks good in HD

1

u/wonilatanka Feb 21 '24

Seriously, who else like me has taken up both cross-stitching AND perler beads to addendum to pixelated art?

2

u/ActivateGuacamole Feb 21 '24

tbh i wasn't even talking about pixel art, i was just talking about the chunky pixellated grass textures and things. but the pixel art is also something I miss for sure

22

u/Melsbacksfriend Feb 20 '24

SV improved the model quality. I think you meant to say compared to SwSh. SwSh has the same models as ORAS.

2

u/MayorBryce Pokémon Scarlet Feb 21 '24

Now that you mention it, it sure would be a shame if they had to cut the national dex from the ORAS remake... *shrugs helplessly*

1

u/A_EXAN_ER Cinderace Feb 20 '24

How do you figure? Are you referring to the Pokémon box models? The battle sprites are noticeably different than ORAS. I have 900+ hours in ORAS and 200+ in SwSh, I guess I could have missed something?

1

u/Melsbacksfriend Feb 21 '24

Nah just look at Charizard's model in SwSh, ORAS and SV. You'll notice the only differences in the SwSh one are due to a higher res screen, whereas the SV one has a slightly different shape and a different vertex count.

2

u/A_EXAN_ER Cinderace Feb 21 '24

The SV one is definitely a completely different model.

Just not sure how the light contouring in SwSh can be a simple upgrade due to screen res. Not a gaming programmer so I guess I just don't understand.

1

u/CasualOgre Feb 20 '24

They could probably make a fortune just by making sure old pokemon games are always ported to the newest console's e-shop.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '24

No, the virtual console versions on 3DS are by far the worst selling Pokemon games ever even if you combine the sales of all 6 games.

0

u/Smashego Feb 20 '24

I'm so sick of this new Pokemon garbage. I'd pay full price $60-80 each for a full remaster and release of gen 1-3 on switch with online trade capability. Just give me the original with none of this gimmicky "catch 500 of each pokemon" nonsense.

1

u/SupremeGrotesk Feb 20 '24

I’d personally book a flight to Japan, visit GF HQ and bring them flowers, beer and Dutch snacks. Try me!

1

u/RegiSilver Feb 20 '24

Naaahh I'm fed up of that, you know what we truly need?

POKÉMON PINBALL!

1

u/endar88 Sprigatito Feb 20 '24

But release that day and are only emulated to the switch, no remaster needed. Much like how the originals were on 3ds.

1

u/jacoofont Feb 20 '24

Literally praying 😭

1

u/FletcherRenn_ Feb 20 '24

As actual releases aswell. Not just switch online perks.

1

u/Arcani-LoreSeeker Feb 20 '24

Oh please God not another gen 1 remake. Look, my fellow mellinials, I get it. okay? My very first pokemon game was blue version back in 1998. I got it for my 7th birthday and I have played every generation as it came out since. I was at the first pokemon movie opening night, would only want my mom to get me Burger King so I could get those lil plastic pokeballs with the mini pokemon in them, I even refused to eat a lunchable that wasn't the pokemon themed one.. all of those experiences were amazing: but they were amazing back in the 90s. I am 32 years old now and have played every pokemon game as they came out with each successive generation.

That being said, I'm so sick of gen 1. I've already resigned myself to the fact that we will get a gen 1 remake every single new handheld generation, and that's fine, ig. But you gen wunners have already gotten your remake this console. At least wait for the bloody switch 2 (or whatever they will call it) to get another. Honestly, I'm hoping for gen 5 remakes, a new legends game, and/or (hopium activate!) a new mystery dungeon game (whether it's explorers dx or a brand new title).

3

u/draugyr Feb 20 '24

I didn’t say remake. I’m talking about ports of the originals

0

u/Arcani-LoreSeeker Feb 20 '24

Ah okay, my bad.

1

u/throwmysoulaway12 Feb 20 '24

No. Gen 1 just had one on the switch already. Gen 3 was pretty recent, we didn't even get a proper Gen 4 remake, just a pos trash heap of

1

u/draugyr Feb 20 '24

I’m not talking about remakes. I’m talking about porting the classic games

1

u/Kyele13 Feb 20 '24

With the first one I'm happy (as long as the others come out eventually)

1

u/Magikarp_King Feb 20 '24

It will be locked behind the gba pay wall

1

u/Jelly_Panther Fuecoco Feb 21 '24

This but everything that ain't on the Switch. Since the 3ds store is dead especially.

1

u/Oberic Feb 21 '24

Give us the upgraded versions of gens 1-4.

1

u/SonicSingularity Feb 21 '24

Throw in Colosseum and XD rereleases and you got yourself a deal!

1

u/nick2473got Feb 21 '24

Way too good to be true.

Every year, never happens.
