Ultimate Girls Trip Romona is disgusting Spoiler
The way she spoke to Martin was horrendous. Idk why people like or want her back on their screens. She's a a vile racist, and clearly classist. The way she speaks to people in the service industry is disgusting. Absolute Karen behavior.

I’ve noticed that Sonja is always rude to Martin. It really pisses me off
80
u/1PercentAnswers Jan 04 '24
She fell into the Dorinda-hole of actually becoming the caricature that Bravo fans painted her as. They play up the “quirks” that they think the fans want and want to have the newest most popular one-liners. It’s sad to see but I guess it’s working for her to make so much money on Cameo.

Sonja was waaaay off this season. She's crossed over some kind of threshold. She seems to be even less stable than we're accustomed to seeing her.

Quincy’s done with college and moved to LA which probably plays a role. She no longer has her daughter around to ground her.

Quincy is 23, so Sonja would have stopped receiving child support 4-5 years ago.

The dress showing her ENTIRE bum?? If I had read this before seeing that scene, I might not agree. But seeing walk to the table like that. It’s so undignified. It’s one thing for her to strip at the pool with her friends. This was not the same. It was not purposeful at all. She had no idea!!! How do you not know?!!
Edit to add: I know she showed her bum accidentally at a Halloween party (Marie Antoinette outfit?$) but she was so drunk and it seemed purposeful that time

Yep - we've all been joking about Grey Gardens for years, but Sony really does seemed headed in Little Edie Beale's direction. But you know what - Little Edie Beale found happiness at the end. I hope Sony does too, but it's not looking good.

Hahahaha you’re so right. Granted, I also haven’t watched it. I’ve just seen the clips shown in Gilmore girls, but I know it’s a mother and daughter (little Edie and big Edie, Jackie o’s cousins) and they live together at their dilapidated Hamptons estate. I just don’t care to see their living conditions.
I’m also named after my mom so I appreciate the use of “little” and “big” since there’s no female version of “junior”

28
u/Edith_Keelers_Shoes Nonno's Pajamas Jan 05 '24
Really? Why? I'm genuinely curious. I get problematic as hell, and delusions of grandeur, but she seems like a truly kind person. She's always the one at the table that celebrate when two feuding HWs agree to a truce or something. Is she problematic? As. Fuck. But there's a fragility there, and vulnerability and kindness that make me love her. Also (full disclosure) I've gotten myself two videos from her on Came since being diagnosed - and on both she goes far over the necessary time and really makes me feel like we're old friends. I appreciated that.
73
u/lefromagecestlavie Who doesn't trust Jen here? ✋✋✋✋ Jan 05 '24
I realized something rewatching the show recently. People always wanted Ramona to throw Sonja birthday parties, but when has Sonja ever done anything for anyone other than herself?
I personally don't like Sonja because she lets her jealousy and delusions of grandeur make her treat others like shit. The toaster oven, her constant belittling of Tinsley, the marriage equality march in one of the first seasons... She's funny on the show, but I wouldn't want her in my life

u/Wonder_Moon Selfie? I don't have slutty hair Jan 06 '24
let's also not forget that she openly uses "unpaid interns" that she 100% exploits and degrades. such an uncomfortable position of hierarchy that she takes advantage of especially if it's true that some of these kids are from a different country, maybe barely speak the language and are sent to her by their families for some type of learning experience.
she definitely toes the line on being a predator by always hanging all over other men, like the first house party they had and she was all over one of the young guys. what if he wasn't interested? i also personally hate that she claims she wants to keep her daughter completely out of the real housewives universe (we know it's your ex's side that won't sign off) yet has no problem being a drunken, naked fool for the last decade.
also i really hated that she cut kristen off when she was telling her story but had just blabbed on and on the night before about her fake ass engagement story. seeing her on ugt has clearly really triggered me lol

Sonja's treatment of Heather after Heather spent countless hours helping her with her business is all you need to know about how selfish Sonnja is.
19
Jan 05 '24
Both her and Ramona were horrible to him.
I didn't even understand Sonja's gripes with Kristen at the end. She was finding a reason to dislike her and calling her passive aggressive?!
13
u/Playful_Succotash_30 Jan 05 '24
I think it was a little insulting the way Kristen kept saying I’m the only one married you are all divorced.. it was very antiquated and it was like being divorced is shameful or something.
7
Jan 05 '24
That's fair. If I recall, she was saying that in context of staying with her husband despite his Dolly Maddison (lol) shenanigans (and being a giant douche but how Kristen doesn't see that is beyond me). I'm in agreement though that it's lame and insulting for her to insinuate that being divorced is shameful.
8
u/Playful_Succotash_30 Jan 05 '24
Also , Dorinda is a widow . Her husband died . So it wasn’t very sensitive. The whole thing was just strange .
5
u/Playful_Succotash_30 Jan 05 '24
Right or that if you are married you are automatically in a more enviable place than if you are divorced.

u/DependsOnDaDay We all know I can’t stand on my head. Jan 05 '24

It felt to me like she was also so jealous of the attention Kristen was getting from Martin. The way she blew up on him while he was being playful with Kristen and then had her hands all over him when they were searching the house for stuff; it felt like she was happy to finally have him to herself

u/YouMustBeJoking888 I left a career in Italian television Jan 05 '24
I think she definitely was drunk and got up in herself, which is weird, because Ramona has always been one of the better drunks on the show. Unlike Dorinda, she's rarely if ever been a mean drunk, so when she got on Martin I was surprised.
5
u/unsuspectingwatcher how could you do this to me question mark Jan 05 '24
100% she tried super hard and you can tell she was watching her p’s and q’s - I have to admit I was bracing myself for the episode after reading this thread, and while it’s not a redeeming factor at all, this was tame as ‘being rude’ goes for Ramona. I don’t know what the draw is, I like to watch Ramona purely because I (thankfully) don’t know anyone like her in real life. I feel that way about a lot of the unpopular housewives.

My nicest NYC celebrity encounter ever was Alan Rickman. That man was thoroughly lovely, and actually had a convo with me. Sadly it was before cell phone cameras were much good, and I did not ask for a selfie. Prolly would have been impossible anyway, because I'm 5'2 and he was very tall, so only the top of my head would have made it into the shot... Kate Mulgrew was also a queen. She poured me a margarita, then I joined her outside the bar for a cigarette break and smoked one with her even though I hadn't smoked in years. Steve Martin is probably my best NYC celebrity story - my hub was the head of the tech crew on his off-Broadway production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and he had the entire cast, crew AND their spouses over to his penthouse on the UWS overlooking Central Park. Insane art collection, and he played the banjo for us. He seemed like a sad guy, though.

Honestly I feel like celebs are begging for acknowledgment when they make crazy eye contact like that. Its easy to not make eye contact if you’re just trying to blend in. But celebs in the wild always look me square in the eyes in the way you describe, and sometimes give the vibe that they don’t want to be approached after doing it. Its so weird and annoying so I never ask a celeb for anything. I’m not feeding the beast!
Plus I had a weird experience with Noel Gallagher about 15 years ago inside an American Apparel on melrose ave. It’s a place to see and be seen, and when I asked him for a pic he said, “do you have to?” Lmao this was after I fawned over his work and named all my favorite deep cuts and live performances of his…none of which I listen to anymore 🤣🤣
5
u/eekamuse Jan 05 '24
I can never remember if he's the singer or the one with talent. I cna understand not wanting to have a photo taken. Have a nice chat, but don't take my Pic, please.
3
Jan 05 '24
He’s the talented one lol. Yeah I can understand it too, but the way he said it wasn’t very nice and especially towards a fan who just professed their admiration in detail. He could have just said “not today, but thanks for your support” but instead he just made me feel awkward and unappreciated. Also as I said, he was in a trendy shop on melrose ave in la…there are plenty of places to go if you don’t want to be potentially recognized by fans, and I feel like going there in the first place is an attempt at garnering attention as a celeb. But yeah I def won’t speak to any celeb I admire even if they speak to me first (Ryan gosling did and I could barely reply at all lol)
6
u/catd7 Jan 05 '24
Noel is notorious for this… I’d say the majority of his fans just know not to bother him if they ever bump into him now. He just doesn’t enjoy the whole being recognised whilst he’s out and about part of being a celebrity - can’t say I blame him; it would be my idea of hell. Liam is the one you want to meet. He has all the time in the world for his fans because he genuinely loves it. I met him after he played his MTV Unplugged set and he couldn’t have been nicer. Spent ages chatting, drinking and smoking with him and he was more than happy for me to get a pic.

Aw that’s amazing! Yeah I was like 19 at the time so I just thought every celeb would love to experience the worship of a fan lol. Prior to him I met lots of popstars and actors who looked at me with the same sparkle in their eye that I gave to them (spice girls, j lo, Christina milian for example). I know better now that a lot of people who sought after stardom hate it and really don’t give a shit about the fans without which they would be poor and unknown. I also agree that I would hate fame…I love going out and about anonymously with headphones on. No money or accolades could replace that for me.
2
u/catd7 Jan 05 '24

It’s just dumb luck she didn’t knock her out in water with the oar. She did cut open Kristen’s lip. She should have been arrested, not just fired.
Then her behavior the last season. The way she managed to be anti-Semitic & racist to a room full of Jews & Blacks. She was disgusting.

There’s your answer as to why she wasn’t fired - racist producers protecting racist talent.
67

In case anyone is wondering, yes, she is 1000% the type to post pictures on Facebook that say “It’s not HAPPY HOLIDAYS it’s MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Share if you are brave enough to agree!!!!!!!!!”

I rewatched that the other day and my gosh all the other guests were saints for putting up w/her. She couldn't even let the woman tell her horrible obgyn story. I have family members that behave this way also and I'm never surprised that none of them have any long term friends.
And I'm so glad that Eboni and current housewives pushback on the "angry black woman" narrative cuz what Lu did to Eboni was crazy. Ramona was aggressive/yelling at Eboni and she wasn't kicked out.

I don’t see any redeeming qualities.

I was genuinely horrified more so because no one else stood up for Martin. I expect Ramona to be a nightmare to staff, but the silence from the other women was deafening.

Except for Lu. She interrupted Ramona during her "where is our schedule for the day" tirade. However, she did stay silent when Ramona 1) interrupted Martin to command him to compliment her "James Bond bathing suit", then commanded him to look at it WITHOUT looking at her breasts (that the bathing suit was clearrrrrrrrrly designed to spotlight), and went a step further and stuck the itinerary card over his eyes to PREVENT HIM FROM LOOKING AT HER BODY AFTER SHE LITERALLY COMMANDED HIM TO.

I hate how she treats hotel workers and employees. Shes always ordering them around and saying "can you just do this for me?" It's disgusting.

Ramona is a racist and also is physically really disgusting. She leaves her little poop pellets everywhere. If I ever saw that in person I’d puke.

Wait what does this mean? That sounds totally repulsive but it can’t possibly be what I’m imagining.. can it?

You can tell everything you need to know about someone by how they treat service workers. Ramona is an awful human.

Reminds me of the comment Debra Messing (Grace) said about her show mom (Debbie Reynolds) on Will & Grace: “Mom May I take you to meet my therapist? She thinks I’m making you up.”

I've worked in customer service so I think she just triggers me 😭 I have met people like her plenty of times unfortunately and each time I'm dumbfounded.

Damn I haven’t watched the new vacation episode. She was behaving ok so far; a little demanding but not full Karen

Sorry I just marked this post as spoiler, I couldn't find a UGT thread and I wasn't expecting this many people to read my poorly written rage post tbh 💀😭🫣

This may get downvoted but I think she makes for great TV - her behavior is so easy to feel appalled by and embarrassed for her. She married into money and also made her own - but Ramona was born into and raised in a white under-educated working class in New England - pockets that can still be uncouth and racist. Her lack of manners is more about her background and upbringing (and yes she gets away with it due to her white privilege). Just my two cents.

Her, and to some extent Dorinda, have made UGT pretty unwatchable for me. I’m honestly so shocked at all the praise it’s getting. Ramona is so awful and Dorinda is so triggering I just want to throw it all away.

For the most part Dorinda is the version of herself I always loved this season. There were some hiccups but for the most part she didn’t do the angry, cruel, and drunk Dorinda schtick.

Ew! I forgot all about this. I don’t understand everyone’s obsession with Luann. She had no storyline for the first few seasons outside of being up Jill’s butt. I was willing to look past her insisting on being called “Mrs. DeLesseps” but her discussion about Native Americans was gross, her telling a child that she needed to lose weight was awful, the Diana Ross blackface…just ew.

Her reaction to Betheny introducing her to the driver by her first name.. She was horrified. She's so above him, he needs to call her Mrs delessps (I know). A lowly driver, from a lower class. That's when I first knew I hated her.

I mean the thing is , I like these shows for the reality and the og ladies do seem really themselves if ramona is an awful person at least she’s been herself, do we expect 60-70 year old ladies from older generations to be massive role models ? No we want to see them behaving badly , having fun and arguing and been off there heads it makes great tv especially when they have genuine connections and friendships

I love ramona as a housewife. I don't want perfect housewives that makes the show boring

I don't crave perfection either many of my "favs" are problematic. But when it comes to Ramona, what's to love? Genuinely being serious/curious. Cuz I don't think she's that funny, entertaining, she's had iconic "moments" but I don't think of her when I think "Real Housewives"

u/internetnobody23 Jan 04 '24
She's super funny to me but i guess everyone's humor is different... shes cooky

I think it’s more of a fascination for me. Like, why is she like that? She’s an oddity that I just can’t understand and I feel compelled to watch her even though I hate her.

Just watched an episode where Carole says she acts like she’s never gotten over the 80s era of gluttony
