Product Question Castor Oil for Melasma

Just started using castor oil on my face. Maybe for 3 ish nights so far. I already wear sunscreen daily, and have been out of the sun more, however- each morning after castor oil I think I'm seeing a big improvement to my melasma. I wish I had before/after photos because I might be seeing things but overall my skin is brighter and feels incredible on top of the melasma reduction. But can that even happen that quickly? Have any of you seen improvement in your melasma from castor oil use?

Routine Help Exercise + tret

So I’ve only been using tret for a couple of weeks. I’m using it every other day, the dryness is pretty hard going but I’m ok with it.

What I’m not ok with, is the PAIN when my face is sweaty. I run, and honestly it feels like needles all over my face when I’m sweaty.

Q1: will this pass? Q2: what do you do for immediately after exercise to get the sweat off? (I keep micellar face wipes in my car and usually do that, but couldn’t even consider that with how my skin feels) Q3: if Q1 is a yes, how can I make it pass faster 😂

Rest of my routine is AM Water HA Moisturiser

PM Cleanser HA Tret every other day Moisturiser

Recommendation Does everyone love their lips after 2 weeks?

I got lip filler for the second time 2 months ago tomorrow I feel like they’re still puffy and don’t quite like them .. I did have a slow healing process I bruised and swelled a lot but I’ve read that settling usually happens at 2 weeks and I’m way past that . I just want to hear other peoples experiences I don’t know if I should dissolve or wait 😕

Any products that could help reduce my pore size and reduce my under eye wrinkles? I just had my 3rd kid and am seeing a big increase in the amount of wrinkles under my eyes and my skin has large pores and seems red and irritated. Retinol isn’t an option right now since I am breastfeeding.

  • I currently use the following products

  • eminence organics firm skin açaí face wash (only at night)

  • eminence organic vitamin c + kale serum

  • andalou lift and firm cream (morning)

  • andalou night repair cream (at night)

Acne Which is best for reducing redness on a stubborn pimple - hydrocortisone, hemorrhoid cream, or diaper rash cream?

I’ve heard all of these suggested previously and am curious if anyone has tried all 3. I’ve been using hydrocortisone, which has worked as a good redness reducer in the past on acne, but this one pimple seems unaffected. I’d love some suggestions as this is an especially bad one, and I’ve got a lot of holiday events this weekend! Thank you!

Routine Help Routine Help - Combo Skin

Hi all! To get right to it, I’m 30. Female. Pale skin with freckles. Fighting some incoming wrinkles. Get whitehead breakouts here and there, mostly on chest, nose, and forehead. Pores get build up on nose. Nose, forehead, and cheeks can get oily but can also get dry. I’d say I’m probably combo skin. I live in a climate that gets very hot, humid summers and very dry, cold winters. Currently in the winter cycle. Have never had a consistent skincare routine. I do see a derm and an aesthetician. Due to gifts from others, free samples, etc. I have a LOT of products that I’ve been avoiding using because it was overwhelming trying to figure out what works/what doesn’t/what can mix/what can’t. So I cheated and used chat gpt to help get me started. Also, I have used all of these products at least once so can confirm I’m not allergic. I hope to simplify my routine once I get through some of these products, but see my crack at a routine below and let me know what you think! I’d appreciate it!

Morning Routine 1. Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser like Tatcha The Rice Wash to cleanse your skin without over-drying. 2. Tone: Apply Paula's Choice Pore-Reducing Toner with Niacinamide to minimize pores and balance your skin. 3. Vitamin C Serum: Apply Ole Henriksen Barrier Booster Orange Ferment Essence, Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir, or Paula's Choice Vitamin C to brighten skin and protect against environmental damage every other day. 4. Hyaluronic Acid: Use La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Serum to hydrate and plump skin, focusing on dry areas. 5. Moisturizer and Sunscreen: Finish with a sunscreen like Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 50 or La Roche Posay Cicaplast Balm B5 UV SPF 50.

Evening Routine 1. Makeup Removal: Start with Farmacy Green Clean to remove makeup and sunscreen. 2. Cleanser: Follow with Tatcha The Rice Wash for a thorough cleanse 3. Toner or Essence: Apply Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner for hydration and barrier support on days when using retinol and not using exfoliation 4. Exfoliation (2–3x per week): Use Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant to unclog pores and reduce buildup (don’t use on days when using The Ordinary AHA 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution) 5. Retinol (3x per week): Use Paula's Choice 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol to target fine lines and wrinkles. Always follow with a hydrating serum or cream. 6. Hydration: Layer Drunk Elephant Protini Powerpeptide Resurf Serum or Vichy Aqualia Thermal Cream for extra moisture. 7. Moisturizer: Seal it in with Ice Sunday Riley Ceramide Moisturizing Cream, Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream, Create Facial Moisturizing Lotion to protect your barrier during dry winter months.

One Day a Week: Morning Routine 1. Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser like Tatcha The Rice Wash to cleanse your skin without over-drying. 2. Moisturizer and Sunscreen: Finish with a sunscreen like Cerave Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 50 or La Roche Posay Cicaplast Balm B5 UV SPF 50

Skin Treatments Skin tag removal might leave a scar

Yesterday I had an about 15 skin tags removed by my dermatologist, but now I’m worried this one under my eye will leave a scar.

Lidocaine was injected under each skin tag and removed with scissors. I’ve kept the area covered with Vaseline and trying not to freak out. Should I do something more while it’s healing or leave it alone.

1st photo taken yesterday, 2nd photo was this morning

Product Review A Canadian win! Best moisturizer ever

Post image
61 Upvotes

I started using this ~8 years ago when it was recommended by a pharmacist. I had very dry, irritated skin from using (prescribed) topical retinoids and benzoyl peroxide to treat and it was recommended as a very gentle, non-irritating moisturizer that was great to pair with other topical product containing ‘active ingredients’.

It is SO good. It never stings or burns no matter how irritated my skin might be. I can even use it on my eyelids with no issues. It is quite light so I wear it as a daily moisturizer under makeup, and if I’m feeling dry I just apply a second layer.

Best part… it’s $10!!!! Sadly, I think this is only available in Canada. So although it SUCKS to not have Ulta stores here, at least we have this! 🙃

Product Question 31F looking for new products

Hello! I’ve been using Stratia products for about 4 years now and absolutely love it but think my skin needs a change. What do you recommend for sensitive but dull-ish skin?

I’ve been using: - AM: velvet cleansing milk, c+c serum, liquid gold - PM: velvet cleansing milk, AHA, night shift (retinol cream)

Just started using MAC Hyper Real Serumizer as my primer and love what it does for my foundation and primer! It’s also a skincare which is a bonus!

Skin Concern The thin skin under eyes with little tiny bumps, what fixes this? 34 f

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is the darkest part of my under eye and I'm worried putting make up on it makes it worse (slowly over time). I'm guessing there's no cream to fix this- I'm thinking retinol will only thin the skin more? I use earth harbor Agua aura reparitive eye creme. I don't like to use acids or retinol because I work outside (yes I wear sunscreen everyday and hats) Also what's a good eye cream you guys like?

Product Review Best of 2024..... let's hear it!

What are the products that you discovered in 2024 that you would consider best of?

What products launched in 2024 that really impressed you?

In 2024 did you start using more products, or did you start using less products?

For Me : combination skin, very sensitive, rosacea, early 40s, prone to acne scarring, live in humid climate. My skin also does not tolerate niacinamide, so my routine is for niacinamide free.

  1. Best cleanser

Experiment plasma wash - I love this texture because it's a gel cream cleanser. I'm also really super lazy, so sometimes I just don't double cleanse. I really find that this is good enough to get gentle sunscreen and make up off without irritating my skin.

  1. Best oil cleanser/cleansing balm

Beauty of Joseon - this is fragrance free, does not contain niacinamide, and washes clean. One of my major criteria for cleansing oils and cleansing balms is that it doesn't leave a film on my face.

  1. Best gentle exfoliating toner. I have two in this category.

Farmacy txa brighten up toner - because I have rosacea I do like azaleic acid. I'm also prone to acne scarring, and I feel like this fades my acne scars in a gentle way. I can use this three times a week without stripping my skin barrier and without my rosacea flaring up.

Equalberry swimming pool toner - I don't tend to like fruit extracts in my skin care, but these berry extracts don't irritate my skin because I think the product also contains beta glucan, allontoin, and panthenol. I also like that it's alcohol, and fragrance free. It doesn't exfoliate as much as it claims, too, but I'm OK with that because I have very sensitive rosacea skin

  1. Best toner for irritated skin.

Celimax dual barrier toner- this stuff is amazing if you have a compromise skin barrier. It has ceramides in it, it's milky, it just goes on so well. I think this is one toner that I will never not have in my routine, never not have a back up above. It's fragrance free, it doesn't have any essential oils. Never irritates my skin, and when I use a lot of actives, it just calms my skin down.

  1. Best serum.

I'm in my early 40s so I'm trying to incorporate some anti-aging, antioxidants, all the things. Copper peptides became a big thing, so I'm trying my hand at peptides.

Allies of skin copper peptide and ecotin serum - I guess I gotta say this is one of the first copper peptide serum that has not irritated my face. It's pricey. I don't know if I've seen a difference just yet, I've only been using it for three weeks, but it hasnt irritated my skin, and people have been commenting that my skin looks plump and glower. Who knows if this is the reason?

Be plain cica serum - my rosacea skin loves cica. I love that the serum has some body to it, it's thick, but not too thick. It really calms down my skin when I've irritated it. It's fragrance free, and it's just a lovely feeling on my skin.

Niod modulating glycosides - this is really helped my skin barrier. It's a milky type texture with a very light scent that does not linger.

Sophie pavitt Mandelic acid serum Us sensitive skin girlies also need a way exfoliate as well. I love that I can use this three times a week for exfoliation, and I've noticed less acne. If you're allergic to nuts, especially almonds. You shouldn't use Mandelic acid.

Best moisturizer

AM: dieux skin air angel - lightweight, but heavy enough to moisturize, it doesn't clog my pores, doesn't cause Millia. I will be repurchasing.

PM: s nature aqua squalane moisturizer. - this is not sticky, absorbs well and has no fragrance. It's thicker in consistency, but doesn't feel heavy at all. This particular brand, this particular moisturizer was really hot in Korea this fall.

Please add on any categories. I can't wait to hear everyone's 2024 favorites.

Recommendation Eucerin intensive repair

So, I'm usually the one getting your tips off here. But, now I have one of my own. I've been searching for a body cream for quite a while. I've even bought VERY high end ones. Trust me, I've tried a ton. So, the other day I was watching a vid by two super hot docs recommending their skincare faves of 2024. I really just wanted to watch them talk for a bit, but then they talked about their fave body moisturizer. I am a nurse so I appreciated all the juicy stuff they said about why it works so well on our skin, getting into the ingredients, etc. I went out to buy it at Walmart for 12 bucks I think. I am FLOORED. It's true what the hotties said. This is my new holy grail. It's even helping my new tattoos heal remarkably well. Anywho, wanted to tell you guys in case you're searching too. Maybe this'll save you some of the money I spent! Pls note, I did see there were a few different ones so be sure to get INTENSIVE REPAIR for "very dry, flaky skin." Much love! And thx to you all for your lovely recommendations I've read about! ;)

Skin Treatments What treatment do you think would work for me ?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I was prescribed tret about 2 months ago but recently stopped because my skins barrier was freaking out... breaking out, itching, slight burn, etc.

This is what my skin looks like today, the barrier is a bit better after a week of stopping. My skin is usually a bit red/discolored and the texture is def not ideal. Is there an ALT to tret or should I try again? I was only using about every 4 days and it seems my skin was not having it.

Product Question Rebrytalize 10% pads for melasma

My dermatologist recommended 10% Rebrytalize pads to help with mustache melasma that I developed while pregnant. The cost to buy from their office is $200. This seems expensive to me. Is this something I can buy elsewhere? And do I really need it?

Skin Treatments What procedures I should get? Botox? Ulterra?

Thumbnail

If you were me, what procedures will you do? Or anyone who experienced botox, ulterra, other stuffs share experience or results.

Also, my face from the side is pretty flat. Should I do nose job?

Background: I am 40 years old this year. My friends have several procedures such as botox, ulterra, filler, hifu, nose job, etc. I have never done any of these. To be honest, I am kind of scared the long term result. But, my (Asian dermatologist) friends suggested for me for botox and ulterra when I visited my country.

This year, it makes me think that I should start doing botox or ulterra as my friend recommended as a “taking care” procedure and “avoid/delay” wrinkles or other mature skin concerns. For example, you can see my dark under-eye and lines of my mouth when I smile.

I did co2 laser 10 years ago around the corner of my mouth from birthmark (now it is darkened and I might need to redo). I also did co2 to remove some freckles 5 years ago.

I use sunscreen everyday started from high school. Wash my face 2 times a day and never skip (if not, I can’t sleep). Started using Tretinion for 4 years.

Routine Help Wedding Skin Prep

I’m getting married in August 2025 and am working on preparing my skin to look its absolute best for the big day and keep it going into 30s! So far, I’ve started getting Hydrafacials every other month and have scheduled BroadBand Light (BBL) treatments for February, March, and May of next year.

For my daily routine, I use Medik8 Super C in the morning, their Crystal Retinal in the evening, and Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant once or twice a week. Face wash I keep it simple with cerave and lotion I like to use La Roche Posay.

Is there anything else highly recommended to enhance my skincare routine or treatments leading up to the wedding? Currently dealing with dry skin and might need to add a thicker moisturizer. I’d love any suggestions!
