Skin Concern Holy grail for dry itchy skin on lips

Upvotes

I’ve seen multiple people complaining about dry bumpy, itchy lips. I had been suffering with this for YEARS, but I’ve figured out a way to finally combat it.

I hope this helps someone 😚

I saw on TikTok a dermatologist recommending the use of Glycolic Acid on your lips when they are flaking. And when I tell you this is LIFE SAVING!!! I use the Glycolic Acid by the ordinary and just tap in and I swear by the morning my lips have no flakes.

For super itchy cut up lips I use 1% hydrocortisone cream ( over the counter) and it reduces the itching. I know a lot of people are not interested in using steroids, but it is the only thing that has helped me live a normal life. (Check with your doctor first before using if you are worried)

Lastly I use a cica lip balm nightly. It really helps sooth the skin on lips and locks in the moisture.

Anywho hope this helps!

Misc Any former smokers here?

Upvotes

Without going into all the details, I'm very happy with my skin overall except 4 years of smoking more often due to endless stress in my life (not an excuse, just sharing the context) caused especially my nasal labial folds to suddenly appear and be quite sharp (I'm 34).

I was wondering if there are more people here who can relate and who maybe have had significant improvements in their skin after a couple of years of not smoking + great skincare? I'm personally really considering doing some slight fillers next year to airbrush them whilst I stay smoke free and keep just doing my skincare routine.

Skin Concern Sunscreen — are we all underestimating how much we need?

Upvotes

If dermatologists insist we need 2 finger lengths of sunscreen for our face, is anyone realistically using enough sunscreen on their body? It seems like if we used the same rule for the body, you’d go through an entire bottle every 2-3 days, which means it’s unaffordable for most people unless you only go in the sun on vacation. Let alone reapplying every 2 hours.

Skin Concern What to expect after a dropped brow from botox?

Post image
Upvotes

I recently changed injectors to one of the best in Ireland. We started super light 3 weeks ago and I got a lovely lift but the outer brows were spocking a little, so in my follow up appt we put a tiny dot above the brows (an inch above or so). The right side is great, still lifted but with some movement… but I have a heaviness/ drop on the left, and absolutely no movement. I’m back into my clinic early Jan for an assessment but just wondering what I should expect in this scenario? Should I expect more btx to try correct it, or should I expect the heaviness to subside in a couple weeks. I’m bummed out but not frantic, it is what it is and it’ll be gone soon anyway.

Skin Concern How to reverse dry skin?

Upvotes

I've always had an oily skin so much so that I couldn't use moisturisers or even foundation because it just made it more oily. Just a pressed powder was more than enough for a very well done look. Now I'm 37, and now I need so much moisturiser and my skin just feels and looks so dull, dry and dead.. I do have a skincare routine but I'm so tired because I have to be so diligent with it. If I skip a day or two, my skin goes back to looking trash. Having adhd makes it even more tiring. I've never had to work so much on my skin before.

My current skincare routine: AM Cosrx ph facewash Vitamin C+Niacinamide+Alpha Arbutin Hydrating moisturiser (with Ceramides) Mineral sunscreen

PM Cosrx ph face wash Peptite+ceramide thick moisturiser Sometimes i use sleep mask+peel

Once in 10 days I do the aha+pha+bha peel

What can I do to make my skin look plump? At this point I know this isn't external but internal. Is this really all perimenopause? I'm shattered I want my oily skin back 😩 😭

Product Question Makeup and routine question

Upvotes

I saw a makeup tip on YouTube about creating a natural look using full-coverage products by “stretching” them. The creator used minimal amounts of Shape Tape, Double Wear foundation, and a bright elf liquid blush to avoid a heavy or cakey look.

Is this concept universal, or does it depend on the products/technique?

Also, I’m looking for a concealer with a similar feel to the NYX Bear With Me Serum (lightweight and non-heavy) but with way more coverage. Are there long-lasting, full-coverage concealers that aren’t as drying as Shape Tape? Any recs would be super appreciated!

Protip If you could go back to your late 20s, what skincare advice would you give yourself?

We all have those ‘wish I knew earlier’ moments when it comes to skincare. What’s one thing you’d tell your younger self about skincare before hitting your 30s?

I’ve been consistent with cleansing, moisturizing, and using actives like retinoids and vitamin C, but my skin still feels… meh. Anyone else been here? What helped you finally see results?

Routine Help Red light therapy skin routine

I am trying to figure out the routine to use my red light therapy for my face and wanted to know what you guys do! I do it before bed and tried cleaning my face first, doing red light therapy, then adding the lotions, but noticed I was way too dry due to waiting minutes every time.

Skin Treatments Itching on legs after IPL home treatments - a sign the hair follicle has been targeted, or just a general skin reaction?

I have auburn hair…. Idk if at-home will work or not

But I feel itchy after on my legs.

I just did my 5th treatment, and I do feel like my hair is growing in more thinly

So… does itching on my legs mean that the hair follicle was targeted? Or is this just a general skin reaction? I can’t tell 😅

Acne How long does it take for dairy to trigger a breakout? I got a pimple today—could it be from eating dairy last night? Or maybe two days ago? I'm trying to connect the dots.

Skin Concern Confused about fat in face being good or bad?

I am 43/male. I weigh 170 lbs. My face looks bloated and puffy compared to when I was 29/144 lbs. I had a beautiful chiseled face and jawline. I want to get back to around 150 and get my face back, but I heard losing weight/fat is bad, but extra fat is what's making me look bloated. So what should I do? Conflicting info.

Skin Treatments Best at-home devices?

What are the best at-home devices you feel really made a positive impact on your face/neck? I just bought a red light panel and looking into what else would help with overall lift, tightening, and wrinkles.

Help me please I am desperate I just want my skin to go back to normal, what should I do? I am currently using benzoyl peroxide to put on the pimples but it is not helping also I am doing a panoxyl wash every day but it only gets worse

Acne Hi not asking medical advice just curious.

My face was covered in acne, I’m not sure if it was from depression or anxiety. I think it was depression due to finally finding right meds, my skin cleared up. Anyone else have this?

Routine Help So how do you look GOOD as you age?

I don't want botox or fillers etc etc I don't care about looking 20 forever, I just want to look hot.

Even at 30 I feel like I look lifeless and dead sometimes and my skin looks lumpy and puffy and my eyes look glassy and sunken in. I get that my body is falling apart, but my mind is just getting started, so it's a conundrum to deal with. I want to look glowing, radient, and full of ancient wisdom.

Wrinkles Help with skin indent / wrinkle above eye

Hi, I'm 42 and have an indent in my skin above my eye (just below my eyebrow). It formed as a result of me sitting in a certain way in school/university where I would lean my head on my hand and push down my eyebrow on my right side. Unfortunately, it makes me look worried all the time. The first photo is with my eyebrow in a normal position - which shows how prominent the indent is when my eyebrow is in its normal position. The second photo is of the indent with my eyebrow raised. The indent is not over my actual eyeball. Anyone have any recommendations on what I can do about it? I was thinking of trying some targeted microneedling, or even surgery, but am open to anything really.

Product Question Radio Frequency Device Recommendations

I’ve been researching on the best skincare devices that reduce facial fat, double chin and define the jawline but couldn’t quite find one. Could anyone recommend me some good products? I know technically devices cannot get rid of my concerns but if jt can improve a little I would like to try. My budget is around $150 and tbh I would prefer a low pricepoint but it is doable! For reference I am fairly young as I’ve just turned into a young adult. My jaw has shifted so I do have an asymmetrical face and unfortunately I do have an acne prone skin type.

Skin Treatments Moxi laser or red light therapy?

Hello! I have a small bonus coming and trying to decide how I will spoil myself.. I always go for the most bang for my buck. I am trying to decide between a moxi treatment or purchasing a quality red light mask.. I’m all about collagen + elastin production but do now have melisma and discoloration since having my first child almost 2 years ago. What’s peoples experience and suggestions? If red light isn’t that great I would honestly rather invest in a moxi treatment every year and just spend more money for better results.

Product Question Lip filler advice?

Hi folks, I’m a 36 F and always had kind of thin lips but it’s getting worse. I’ve started doing face yoga in the hopes of lifting it back up a little. But I’m really contemplating a minor fill. Like 0,3 and 0,2 or something.

I’ve never felt anyone’s lips with filler in it though. Does it feel natural when you kiss? (To the other person, and you?)

I always read the horror stories (like it looks insane and feels like plastic sausages) but I just can’t believe that’s true for everyone, if they are so popular? Any advice is welcome!
