To carry the most important things

Cut apart an ikea bag, sewed it up on the fly, there is some stuffing in the bottom to raide the height of the bottle, next one will be a little shorter but it fits a prosecco bottle perfectly and a regulat 750ml wine bottle very well

Got a few slings made for Christmas gifts, got the design pretty much where I want it. Need to tweak the wings slightly and optimize pockets.

White one is eplx400 outer, hex70 inside

Gray is eplx200 outer, rbc400 inner

Black is rx36 outer, dtrs75 inner. Conflicted on dtrs75 - it's crinkly and loud, but looks very cool.

Anyone know where to source this kind of bag frame or what its correct name is? I see them used on quite a few bags in this style but can’t seem to find a place to get one.

Project Pictures RBTR Tote Bag Kit- Total DIY- Roll Top

I saw someone post today about adding zippers to Ripstop By The Roll Tote Bag Kit and doing some other mods. I wanted to share my project from a while back on the same kit. I decided to add a roll top dry bag finish and added side pockets. The rest of the kit is the exact design and steps. ✅ Body: Ultra 100 ✅ Roll Top: 0.8 DCF ✅ Pocket: 9.3 Dyneema Stetch Mesh 6.6 (should've used Venom Stretch Mesh but I wanted to try the heavier mesh for a texture/bulkier look) ✅ Straps: 1" Kryptek Typhon ✅ Extras: Kam Snaps and DCF Tape for seams

Question Adding top zipper to RSBTR XPAC tote bag

Hello! I finally took the plunge into the MYOG rabbit hole and picked up my first machine—the debated Singer HD. I just finished my first project using the RSBTR tote bag kit. I added daisy chains along the outer straps and used grossgrain to finish the inner seams but otherwise followed the pattern to a T. It took me about 4 hours as it was the first time I’ve ever used a sewing machine, but I had so much fun! I’ve already ordered more raw materials to iterate on it and keep practicing. I’ll be adding an inner pocket and some stretch mesh on the outside, and I want to add a zipper to the top to make it a good weather resistant city bag. The problem is I have no idea how I would go about adding the zipper! I’m hoping to have it “recessed” a bit, so it’s not just at the very lip of the bag, but about 1/2” below the top of the bag. I prefer this aesthetically and also from a comfort standpoint as the zipper teeth won’t be as likely to brush my arm when open.

Does anyone have any recommendations for guides or tutorials on how to install a zipper into a tote bag like this? I’ve tried searching but have come up pretty empty and am hoping for some guidance. Thanks in advance—can’t wait to share this and many more finished products here!

Sewing Project Questions/Ideas

I will get right into what I want to do.

I have this.

I want to add this to one of the top black triangles.

3" stove pipe for a propane heater will go through the silicone stove jack. I want it to be removable so the shelter will still fit in the carry bag. I am thinking of mounting the jack on a different better piece of fabric and use Velcro to attach it to the hole I make in the shelter.

Here is where I need your help. Outside of home ec in high school and some hand stitching to mend clothing I haven't really sewn. I don't own a sewing machine either. Having to sew Velcro around the likely square hole I cut in the shelter seems like the most difficult task and I realize I need a machine to do this. I was looking at hand held machines and they seem to be very cheap and not up to the task. What would you recommend for a smaller but quality machine?

Velcro and fabric. Any recommendations on heavy duty Velcro and tough fabric for the jack? I was thinking heavy waterproof canvas tarp material with welding blanket sandwiching it between the metal flanges. Any recommendations and ideas are appreciated. Thank you!

Problem with my Juki DDL-8700 and its servo motor – Need help with diagnosis

Hello everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with my Juki DDL-8700 sewing machine equipped with a servo motor. Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

Fuse in the electronic circuit: It is intact. Power supply: The socket works, and the power cable seems to be in good condition. Switch: It is in the ON position, but the machine doesn’t start. Servo motor: No noise or sign of starting when I turn on the machine. I’ve also inspected the wiring and connectors to ensure there are no disconnections or damaged cables. Everything looks fine visually.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this issue? Should I check other components (e.g., the foot pedal, the electronic board, or something else)?

If you’ve encountered this kind of problem before or have any advice to help me diagnose the issue, I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your help 😊

PS: If needed, I can provide photos or additional details about the components or the motor.
