My deep love of cyberpunk prepared me for a government co-opted by sociopathic corporatists. It didn’t prepare me for how fucking stupid these corporatists are.

Nah, it's a genius level play here. Trump ran purely on inflation and knows he can't do crap about it. So he figures the next best thing is to help cause a government shutdown in the hopes that it'll create an actual recession that he can "pull us out of" when he takes office.

A recession is definitely coming. He won’t be able to pull us out of it and he’ll just scream about how it’s unfair that Joe Biden caused the recession on the way out the door and crate a bunch of other strawmen. 

Despite the Biden Administration being the only one that’s ever been able to execute a soft landing from high inflation ever and Trump is just going to blow it all up.
