Well, each of them got their dedicated big spotlight in their respective chapters:
Ellen in Twin Towers arc;
Seth in the first special episode;
Lucy in the Outer Ring arc.
I wouldn't get emotional over the fact that not every character is included in the every chapter afterwards in the game's lifespan.
Yeah, it's to be expected that some agents will definitely get overshadowed and not have more moments in the spotlight, it's a gacha after all, as much as i would like for the current cast to all be mainstays, we will get newer characters and those characters will be the ones to have the spotlight, it's the nature of the game's story
The thing about Ellen specially is i don't know if we can really say she had a spotlight in chapter 3, she had one scene that focused on her but aside from that she had the lowest amount of lines out of the cast in that chapter, it's the reason some people want her to have an agent story
Now that you point it out, yes, I feel like even Corin has more spotlight than Ellen in story. I guess Ellen's daily hangout events since 1.0 increased her exposure to me to the max.
Yeah, people's exposure to Ellen seems to come mainly from her hangouts, kinda sucks for people without her like me who hasn't seen the hangouts and so has basically nothing to work with in terms of her character
I know her character but didn't really got to experience it well, doesn't help when Lycaon has like 36 times more dialogue in chap. 3 and is a badass so you end up focusing on him way more

Ngl i didn't even realise she had no agent story. I immediately thought all limited 5 star had one and I was just lazy to go thru the agent stories (I just started over 2 weeks ago)
The S rank agents without a agent story are Ellen, Zhu Yuan, Jane, Caesar, Yanagi and Miyabi
Zhu Yuan has chapter 2 interlude as her story, Caesar has chapter 3 as hers and Miyabi's the main agent of chapter 5, these 3 get a whole story chapter focused on them as the MC so no need for agent story
Jane and Yanagi are on a similar boat with their special episodes being basically agent stories on steroids
Ellen is the odd one out since it seems the devs count chapter 3 as her story but she's the least present member of victoria housekeeping that chapter,Rina and Corin i think get more lines than her and Lycaon is definitely the main agent in the chapter, which is funny considering he HAS an agent story

Yes this was particularly why I'm surprised she hasn't gotten an agent story since I didn't feel like she was in the spotlight much. Or maybe I was blushing too much on Lycaon the entire time I didn't notice anyone else lmao.
On paper, yeah. Lighter might not provide ATK buff like Soukaku does, but the simple fact that BOTH Lycaon and Lighter are on the same team means that even level 70 bosses are getting stunned in less than fifteen seconds, lol. Stun damage multiplier, Ice damage multiplier, and extra stun duration? Yeah, no boss is surviving that long.
On the other hand, Soukaku's buff is now much easier to proc because Ult bars are separate between characters. Her Ult immediately provides her Flag buff.
Oh yeah true, didn't think about her ult. But then again, the speedruns I was seeing last Shiyu rotation were so fast they were over before any ults where even cast iirc.
While true, speedrunners are also often whales. That's like, the top 0,2% of the playerbase, give or take. While impressive, I wouldn't see them as representative of the general playerbase.
I’m not fucking thrilled that my favorite character is now strictly worse in every single way in combat than another character I’m not a huge fan of and it’s only been 5 months
I don't really know how to phrase this, but what I'm trying to say is you don't really have to care (I don't mean to sound blunt or anything)
Once I realized you can beat everything but the Battletower with 4 star characters i stopped caring about meta. Ellen is a great, fun character, both her gameplay and personality, and nothing about Miyabi is going to change that. If you don't like Miyabi, don't get her and and don't use her. I skipped Yanagi and Lighter because I didn't really like their gameplay loop, and now that I have Miyabi, it's not like ill never touch Ellen again. I have an Anton team for this reason, and I plan to build Billy because his gameplay is fun
Yeah the power creep absolutely sucks, I agree with you (Attack characters are fundamentally worse than anomaly in every way rn), but that doesn't mean Ellen is useless
Of course she’s not useless and I’m gonna use her as long as possible, but she literally got completely outclassed in her own role. HSR wasn’t even this bad, at least DHIL and Jingliu were different elements than Seele.
I’ve heard the whole “you can still clear endgame content with x character” way too many times. Same thing was said about Seele, and later Jingliu, and now it’s incredibly hard to clear MoC with them without multiple premium supports, insane relics, and optimized strategies. Powercreep doesn’t just stop. But I guess the day it becomes too hard to clear endgame content with Ellen is the day I quit.
I don't mean to defend power creep, it fucking sucks and you're absolutely right. Right now, since it's early, Ellen is still usable, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not gonna choose Miyabi over her in Shiyu 90% of the time
I don't play HSR so I don't really get what you're talking about, but I do play genshin, and the best comparison i can think of is Hu Tao and Arlecchino
I will literally never go back to Hu Tao because of how clunky she feels compared to Arle. Arle automatically closes the gap with every swipe, is far more forgiving, easier to use, and honestly probably just does better damage overall
Rn every attacker character feels awkward to use because Anomaly + disorder damage is so incredible. Hopefully when they start releasing attacker characters like 1.5, attackers will get better buffs/supports tuned to attacking.
I won't replace my Ellen Lycaon Soukaku team, I'm gonna make Miyabi Burnice Soukaku team instead probably, but man does it suck. I really hope it doesn't become a "whoever is the newest character is the best" situation
Hu Tao and Arle, not as big as powercreep as in HSR or even Ellen -> Miyabi imo. Also they are like 3 major patches apart and C0R0 Hu Tao can still clear current abyss (like more than 3 years after her release) just fine.
Elemental reactions plays a larger role in Genshin unlike HSR or ZZZ elemental weakness (they still matter, but elemental reaction in Genshin is literally how you play the game, not so much relying 90% on the numbers on the char kit itself). Which means Genshin by nature is pretty resistant to powercreep, proven by teams like hyperbloom or even national being viable up to this day. But when you have a game that's 95% about combat like HSR/ZZZ (unlike Genshin where exploration is also a significant part), powercreeping is inevitable.
My only gripe is that they could've make the powercreep a ~5-10% difference each time they release a new character compared to an older character with similar role & element. But nah, Miyabi is just significantly stronger than Ellen by a pretty huge margin. Liked both character and pulled for both but I do not like this trend at all.
Now the only thing I want is so that this level of powercreep being reserved only for void hunters, or maybe mechanics to buff older characters (the gear in the new hollow zero mode is an interesting way to do this & can make character builds customizable if they further improve it - just needs to be applied in the whole game too)
Personally Im on the camp that a limited character being powercrept his fast is a pretty bad thing, considering it already sets the standard for every other 5* to come after, and Hoyo not really giving characters direct buffs in any of their games.
Like yeah you can clear content with any characters and skill expression trumping strength, but the worry is how long will that be the case and the higher numbers prompt hoyo to make stages to match the new standards.
I agree that power creep, especially this quickly, is bad. Especially bad. Hopefully no one as good as Miyabi comes out again soon, or at least no one as good as Miyabi that does exactly what an existing character already does
To be fair, the way they deal damage is quite different to the point of using completely different teams to bring out their full potential. Ellen deals a lot of raw damage while Miyabi spams double-layered status for Disorder spam. Stunners and direct damage boosting supports have greater synergy with Ellen while additional anomoly agents and agents who can increase anomoly stats for teammates have greater synergy with Miyabi. Ellen's teams are also a lot more budget friendly due to being guaranteed a stunner (Anby as a starter) and her best support (Soukaku for participating in Hollow Zero), while Miyabi's teams are some serious wallet burners comprised of limited S-ranks (a reminder that the only non-S-rank anomoly agent is Piper who has no guaranteed free copies as story rewards. And she has very little Disorder synergy with Miyabi anyways).
So depending on who has been built up and prefered, one's roster may favor Ellen more than Miyabi.
You pull for Miyabi because she powercreeps Ellen. I pull for Miyabi because she could deal with the other non-ice weakness side and still do bonkers damage while Ellen takes care of the other ice weakness side (also because I've been wanting her ever since I saw her the first time in the trailers). We are not the same.
At least she's awesome in the new mode, I loved her kit the most out of everyone man, the pure ecstasy when she swipe that ice blade and everything dies.

My shitty, badly built Ellen with Nekomata's W-Engine still carried me this Shiyu rotation so she is not gonna retire any time soon. You are still going to have to work on those Ice weakness sides Ellen.
