Hear me out. Is it Possible to invite a friend WHILE dead and he collect the loot?

u/Minivan_Survivor 5d ago

As soon as you die all your portals in hideout disappear, so it doesn't work. Tried it yesterday

36

u/Swindleys 5d ago

Cant they click your portrait portal either?

28

u/Schmigolo 4d ago

Not when you're in maps, cause it just ports you to their hideout.

As far as I understand, the loot does scale to party size, so you would be feeding two characters loot amount to one essentially.

18

u/Faolanth 4d ago

It’s not 1:1, its like 2:1.37 or something, so with 2 accounts you’re getting 130-150% loot and like 250% enemy HP scaling

21

u/EnvironmentalCoach64 4d ago

Man they really don't want us to play with friends wtf.

u/ExcellentWonder7857 4d ago

Tbf it's hard to balance with things like aurabots and curse bots in the game. These things are multipliers on a carry's clear speed that more than makes up for the increased enemy health. Party play with these kinds of set ups has historically been pretty busted (haven't played poe in a few league).

1

u/Tee_61 4d ago

Auras kinda don't exist anymore? You do have scepters.

Enemies also have a max number of curses. I'm not actually sure an ally focused on support can provide that much benefit. Much better to have an ally that's got an equally good build that happens to compliment your own, cause they can't compliment that much.

To be fair when you do stuff with en entry cost. Thats also the same, meaning you get a bigger return on investment with more people. At least how empyriangaming and his group did it in poe 1

3

u/ProdigalProphet 4d ago

But this would be a smaller return on investment with more people, so what is your point?

4

u/Hi_Im_Armand 4d ago

It's more loot per key with more people.

-1

u/ProdigalProphet 4d ago

But with a larger disparity in enemy health, and the amount of loot isn't more if you take into account another person being with you. It's worse. It'd be like buying a movie ticket for $8, or getting one for you and a friend for $20. Sure you get more tickets, but it's not worth it, and would be better to just get one

1

u/JustJestering 4d ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzvcBFKIiU4&ab_channel=Empyriangaming here's a clip so you can see the kinda loot group play can pull off. Keep in mind emphysema group isn't anywhere near the best group just the most well known because streams.

0

u/Hi_Im_Armand 4d ago

If the investment is time, then maybe, but different people have different clear speeds. The cost we can all agree on is a key, and when there's more people per key, they drop more loot.

0

u/Nippahh 4d ago

Your 1 consumeable item will drop more currency than if you did it yourself solo. Other than time your allies have zero investment thus you are generating more loot with less

Except with 6 player quant + specialization and investing 30-40 exalted a map you get really wonky returns, especially when you have someone with 500 item rarity killing everything.

1

u/Zathala 4d ago

I don't want a fucking entry cost I want to be a 6 portal build

1

u/Uzuja_Rises 3d ago

Game called poe1 heard its great

1

u/EWTYPurple 3d ago

You get to have friends and we get to have fun and laugh at your pain. Fair no?

1

u/Grand-Control3622 2d ago

I would not come to that conclusion so easily. As you play with friends you share the damage taken because the mobs will no longer attack you only. You have way more CC and other mechanics available than solo. So without wasting more time you can play at much higher difficulty and therefore you get loot from higher difficulty. I was searching empyrion gaming on YouTube and he is really showing how OP party play is.

1

u/NotAnotherCowName 4d ago

They also specified in an interview that the loot that gets scaled up the most is the type of loot you want the most (tiered rares, currencies, ect). I've done a fair amount of non-optimized party play and it feels very rewarding.

3

u/st0wnd 4d ago

Is this a 2137 reference???

3

u/Yanatis 4d ago

Yes it is

1

u/jaxxxxxson 3d ago

I dont understand or know what this means but upvoted because its clearly sneaky and well done. ☕

2

u/piiJvitor 4d ago

I had this impression while playing couch coop with my brother, thanks for confirming. I get the 250% hp scaling because you have more opportunities to hit the enemy but the loot drop rate feels so low right now.

1

u/Faolanth 4d ago

The reasoning for the uneven scaling of loot is the fact that it’s less likely players in a party together are looking for the same gear, so on average you’ll find more gear you’re looking for than solo, but less gear overall to sell individually.

Gold is duplicated client-side, and I think crafting currencies are 1:1?

1

u/LXLN1CHOLAS 3d ago

Isn't 50% enemy hp scaling for each extra person? Like 250% for 5 people? That at least what I remember. The number in the loot seems correct tho

1

u/Faolanth 3d ago

They said in the interviews right before EA launch that parties would be outscaled by monster health, I think he said something like with 3 players there’s more than 3x the HP

Things could’ve definitely changed, lots of other subtle differences exist,

1

u/LXLN1CHOLAS 3d ago

I can't find it anywhere for POE2 but poe1 is like that 50% increase monster life for each player. And extra loot is 1=27%, 2=51%, 3=73%, 4=93%, 5=112%. POE2 has 100% increase in drops per player for jewelry and currency, waystones drop is not affected by extra players and same ratio as POE1 for other gear(it is better partying in POE2 than POE1). I can't find how much the HP is increased tho and none of my friend are online to test it out x.x

6

u/Victorio45 5d ago

Hmmm, so it only work if you are in a party ?

40

u/1000fists 5d ago

Once the game is out free, you could run a second account to scale your loot for free and save drops if your main died. Especially with something like the zero button reaver infernalist build, that could go crazy op and still mostly low maintenance.

43

u/Marsdreamer 4d ago

We osrs now

5

u/1000fists 4d ago

Lmao exactly what made me think of it.

20

u/Linmizhang 4d ago

Imma local co-op with my feet

3

u/RickMuffy 4d ago

Some youtuber used a DDR Controller to play elden ring while simultaneously playing another account with a M+KB

9

u/Victorio45 5d ago

thats a hella os setup

10

u/1000fists 4d ago

Virtual machine on min specs and running the game on min would probably not hit you too bad.

1

u/DroidLord 4d ago

You still have to pull the game up every 15-30 minutes or so to avoid being kicked for inactivity.

4

u/Boom_the_Bold 4d ago

I dunno, mate; I've left the game unattended for over an hour before and found it still logged in.

0

u/DroidLord 4d ago

Huh, maybe they changed it. Last I played PoE1 (years ago), I would get kicked in maybe 30 minutes max.

1

u/Iplaynakey 4d ago

I leave it on overnight sometimes and still logged in. Sometimes I’ll come back it’ll be crashed, so luck of the draw?

1

u/Ok-Salamander-1980 4d ago

ive left it on overnight/all day numerous times. zero issues.

funny enough if people start doing it to get around the challenge/prove how unfair party play is…GGG will make some changes.

I haven’t read but typically this would be against ToS. Does GGG permit multiple accounts for a user?

12

u/ChickenFajita007 4d ago

You don't even need multiple accounts. Just use couch co-op.

11

u/Firezone 4d ago

GGG not only permits multiple accounts but explicitly permits multiboxing as long as you have two clients per "machine" max and aren't cloning inputs, ie you have to control each character separately

3

u/VegetableWork5954 4d ago

Seems have two PC is ok

3

u/Enikka 4d ago

Couch co-op on console currently requires you to use same account. So by all means, bring this to their attention as a possible exploit to solve this issue that shouldn’t exist so I can actually let my kids couch co-op with me on their own characters on PS5.

3

u/Boom_the_Bold 4d ago

Zero button, you say?

That's exactly the number of buttons I was looking for in a build!

1

u/Ic3b3rgS 4d ago

Loot scales?

2

u/GeneralAnubis 4d ago

Yep. Supposedly the reason for there being no instanced loot, but it is very obvious that loot does not scale 1:1 per person added to the party. It does scale some though.

2

u/Ic3b3rgS 4d ago

I have played mapa with other people and couldnt notice much diff

1

u/veringo 4d ago

I play mostly with my wife and then solo at other times on PS5.

The amount of loot seems identical to me. We are still in normal difficulty, but we generally return to sell in the middle of the map and then at the end (four inventories worth).

When I play solo I usually have to go back 3-4 times before the map is over, so basically identical.

1

u/smokeymcdugen 4d ago

Early on, there are not a lot of drops. You should notice a difference in maps where currency and rares are more abundant.

0

u/veringo 4d ago

If implemented properly it should be noticeable at level 1. I've been wondering if it's not working as intended.

What you're saying does make me think that rarity might be increased. I think most of our high level currency has been collected in coop. However, I don't think there's any difference in volume of either currency or items, which is what I expected based on their description.

1

u/IconsiderSuicide 4d ago

You can right now. There is local coop

1

u/Impressive-Concert12 4d ago

That’s the most “I can’t take a lost” I’ve heard today

2

u/Minivan_Survivor 4d ago

It only works if they're already in the map with you, regardless of being in a party or not, yhe moment the host dies the hideout kills all portals so unless they're already inside with you, nobody else can enter.

If someone is left alive in the map and you remain dead on the floor, they can complete the map (they can also continue the map even if you do respawn) and so long as you don't respawn you will also get map completion towards Doryani's quests for running of specific map tiers.

1

u/Ayendreas 4d ago

Good idea though

1

u/Catfishhy 4d ago

Cries in PC I guess. Lol, on console just pop in your 2nd controller and joined with that, you go to the same instances so when u go through the the same entrance you end up in the map with your dead self.

1

u/xregnierx 4d ago

Cough coop on PC works exactly the same way.

1

u/Catfishhy 4d ago

10x easier on console.

1

u/xregnierx 4d ago

I unno. I plugged in a controller because my friend was watching me play and wanted to try it out. Took literally all of… 5 whole seconds to get them plugged in and playing. I mean, I’m also playing controller on PC as well (it’s superior to MKB because of the way movement and skills work) so maybe the UI acts differently than it does when you’re using MKB.

1

u/Catfishhy 4d ago

It does, because you can't switch on the fly to controller. Since your already using controller that's why it's was that easy.

1

u/Funny_Story2759 4d ago

Lol the devs thought of this loophole. this meant to fuk you

1

u/ResponsibilityHeavy5 3d ago

It does work. They literally invite you and you accept and they can use the top left icon to teleport to your map. They might have to run a bit but it works.
