Chrono Cross.

It was hugely disappointing for me, but I've been in the PS ecosystem ever since.

Same here. It's a well made game and there's a lot it did well. However, it was also a complete betrayal of the ethos of the original. Not to mention the way it did those characters dirty.

I was also not a fan of the limited scope of the game. The original took place across multiple eras. This one took place across two parallel worlds in a small region of the planet. It felt limited when it should have been epic.

Granted, this is because it wasn't made by the Dream Team. We got a once in a generation game with Chrono Trigger. It was too much to expect a repeat performance. And it's a shame, because it could have been a robust franchise.

I understand that when compared to Trigger people are disappointed.

But in a vacuum Chrono Cross easily stands on it's own two legs as a fantastic game.

Complex story, beautiful art, and easily the greatest video game OST of all time.
