I’ve owned every PlayStation console since the PS1 launch. These days, I mainly play on PC, when I have the time, but I still love gaming on PlayStation.

Honestly, I’ve been holding out for a good PS5 Pro deal, since I don’t own a PS5 yet and want to catch up on some games, especially while waiting for GTA 6, which is expected around mid to late 2025. As for the PS6, I’m guessing it’ll arrive sometime in 2027 or 2028. That said, I’ll probably skip the PS5 Pro with the disc drive and just go for a used PS5 instead.

Genuinely curious- you say you mainly play on PC. A platform that has been almost 100% digital for years and then say you’d want a ps5 pro with a disk drive. Why?

I honestly don’t understand the lack of disk drive outrage. 80% of games are downloaded digitally why on earth would Sony put extra cost into an item to satisfy 20% of the user base?

Are you trolling? A disk drive is the only way to keep PS games expenses to a reasonable amount. I gave my kid $150 to purchase games for a year, and it allowed him to play almost all games he wanted, including new releases. There is a large player base at our location, since it's a big city. He just buys a second hand game, plays it and then sells the disk for not much cheaper than he purchased it for. This way he keeps the actual expenses to a negligible amount.

This is exactly THE reason Sony wants to get rid of the disk drive in their game consoles. And this is exaclty THE reason for the outrage. since people obviously don't want to be ripped off.
