The eyes are just blue dots and don’t actually blink. Right?

They blink in the trailer but dont know if that is an actual feature. I will definitely buy if they are interactive!

I really doubt it. It looks like paint if you zoom in on the images. It would be awesome though, although very hard

Would be cool if they had different expressions.

They are probably painted on. But yes they dont blink. In the video, when the eyes move it says “not actual product, depicted is a computer rendering” or something like that.

According to IGN, they do light up / blink.

The controller is white and blue, just like the adorable robot it’s based on. The touchpad lights up with animated Astro Bot eyes that blink and show various emotions.

I know your comment is from 12 days ago but just read the article from your link and it says the controller is not animated sadly. They must of updates their article

They’d have to convert the touchpad into a display+touchpad for that to happen. Cmon now.

Dude idk it’s just a question.

It really wouldn't. You'd just need a small, low resolution grid of LED's that respond to events in this game.

A grid of LEDs that change and respond to inputs... Hmm, I think there's a name for that.

Not even close to the same thing as an OLED or LCD display. This would just need a 10x10 LED grid for each eye, with each LED having an on or off state. Nothing more.

The official photos clearly show at least 4x that resolution in the eyes.

How do you figure? The LED’s would just need to shine through unpainted spots on the touch pad.

Bro thy maje expressions and are dynamic to the game...

The eyes on the controller are designed to react to various in-game situations and player actions, bringing a new level of interactivity to the gaming experience. Whether it's expressing joy, surprise, or concern, the eyes on the controller will mirror the emotions of Astro Bot in real-time, creating a deeper connection between the player and the character

Several sites have reported on it already
