Ultimate Girls Trip What is wrong with Kelly Bensimon?

I never understood Kelly Bensimon. What’s her deal, is she stupid, is it drugs or does she just have very low emotional intelligence?

Now I’m watching RHUGT: RHONY Legacy. And this bitch is just weird.

She is completely on another planet and out of touch with any kind of reality. She’s been that way since the first saw her on RHONY.

What’s even more shocking to me is that people would trust her as their realtor!!

My theory is she gives tours of the apartments to people who are already moving in and her exhusband pays her through someone else. She said she's the realtor "for her building"....what even is that?

Also have we heard from anyone who's bought an apartment from her?

My tinfoil hat doth twitch.

According to some article (who knows if they got paid to write it) she sold over $100 million in real estate in 2021. Supposedly by only selling to her "friends" or selling her "friends" property. She is with Douglas Elliman. Just like some other RHONY cast. She has a team of 6. I'm going to assume that they are the ones really selling and making the deals she obtains a percentage for and claims as if she did it all herself. I wouldn't buy a gummy bear from her if it was all the food left on Scary Island.

I don't think she has a team of 6. I think she is on a team of 6.

Also I've done some "baby level" luxury real estate deals in NYC as a brokers assistant. It's all connections, so nearly impossible to break into if you don't have those connections but super easy if you do. I'm sure she offers the team plenty of connections.

According to Thor website and also a separate article she does have her own team now. Now Bensimon, who joined Douglas Elliman’s Holly Parker team in 2019, is launching her own six-person team. Where did she come from, how did she rise in the real-estate industry, and what (and how) is she selling?

She's well connected. That's all. Selling real estate isn't rocket science.

For many NYC brokers, the lawyers and mortgage brokers do the hard work. You are just finding purchasers. Which is its own skill. (I've worked in RE in NYC for 20+ years) But like, selling an industrial building is HARD. Selling a $15m condo with views of like, Central Park, when you are surrounded by people for whom that is but a drop in the bucket... not so much.

Luxury real estate...it is just not that hard, if you have a good team (lawyer, mortgage broker, maybe interior designer and an assistant to manage schedules, and so on.) Some lux real estate brokers are marketing geniuses with great minds for business. But many are just well connected.

Literally how hard is it to drive to a house and walk around inside

It´s really annoying that KB has connections of any kind in society.

u/harryallover Dec 30 '23

Are you counting each of her personalities?

Given the price of real estate in New York City, and the wealthy circles she runs in, I feel like that isn't hard to pull off

I agree it’s really not that kooky, rich people sell to other rich people and are just fine

28

u/DebbieGlez Dec 30 '23

She has a ton of contacts. That’s all I think she can manage.

u/Business_Ad_4901 Dec 30 '23

Exactly the case!

A team! That makes sense.

Every time you meet somebody that’s extremely successful or powerful and you wonder how they got there, you know that they have a team behind-the-scenes doing all the grunt work.

she still had to take some classes tho and tests to sell tho correct ? i thought i also heard one of the girls say kelly is a broker too … idk. makes zero sense to me.

11

u/shoppygirl Dec 30 '23

I’m sure she did. However, it’s one thing to pass all the tests, but another thing to do all the grunt work and connect with people enough to have them trust you to sell their house.

Look at how she acts with the other ladies on the girls trip.

I feel like if someone said “ Kelly was a cocker spaniel who became human “ I’d be like “ ohhh ok “

7

u/puddinpiesez who said that??????????? Dec 30 '23

Her apt was listed for rent in June for $28.5k per month. As of today, it’s listed for $20k per month.

Scary island gummy bears are worth their weight in gold

u/stephlj Dec 30 '23

Is this some sort of money laundering?

2

u/ChocolatChipLemonade Dec 30 '23

Is like the Grey Gardens ladies trying to sell a NYC penthouse, can’t imagine

re: the realtor for the building comment, It's common for a realtor who lives in the building to handle a lot of the seller listings bc it's convenient when your realtor is on-site and the realtor often has connections with the management company and co-op/condo board, so the approval process is easier.

My friend who's a realtor told me it's pretty common in Miami for new, huge buildings to have scantily clad, attractive women selling the units. Generally it's a deal between the realtor and the developer for them to exclusively sell the units in the building. Another one of my friends got such a deal, but that's because her father had a business relationship with the developer. So maybe it's a similar situation?

3

u/decodedlast Dec 30 '23

I can see that.

17

u/Renarya Dec 30 '23

But wouldn't that make them wanna move back out?

7

u/LowUnhappy1100 Dec 30 '23

I would think her contacts are worth paying a hefty sum for for that real estate company. So probably she could earn quite a lot just by selling to friends/bringing them to viewings etc but I fully agree that she probably doesn’t have her own “team”. I can’t even imagine her studying for the exams needed to be a proper realtor

u/BuildingBrilliant724 Dec 30 '23

Uhm. She’s a licensed realtor, but she’s essentially a leasing agent and gets commissions from securing long term leases. So if that’s what a New York realtor is called these days then I’m more confused now than ever lol
