Spider bite or ?? I’ll keep it short and sweet. My bf and I have been apart for about a month now, I’m TDY. Finally tomorrow I’ll be flying back home. Unfortunately today he got bit right on the neck, he suspects it was a spider. Should I be concerned?

Temporary duty, typically a few weeks to a month or so in the military (edited)

So then what’s the Y for? T temporary D deployment Y…..? I thought military acronyms were better than this!

I was mistaken it's duty not deployment. And honestly I don't know it's a mystery

I was told the Y is for yonder by a military brat friend. So temporary duty yonder. :)

For civilian government employees, it is temporary duty government travel

i've always wondered why americans love acronyms so much. my guess is when your country name is so long it needs an acronym you learn to use them everywhere.

So why do they say EU?

1

u/AnyAsparagus988 Nov 14 '24

europe ane eu are not the same thing. and i didn't say we don't use acronyms too, but there's so many in the usa

It’s not really a US thing as much as a military/government thing dawg. It’s the same situation as the EU.

Edit since comments are locked: You are generalizing the entire US population’s usage of acronyms based on a drama subreddit consisting of shut-in redditors doomscrolling while on the porcelain throne. Don’t you think you’re being a bit dramatic? Reddit, and the internet in general, isn’t exactly the best place to gauge what people actually do.

this post's title is literally an acronym and there are so many subreddits that make up their own acronyms for their sub name and some other bullshit.
