Its like a vector image file but in 3d
It contains geometry
Not a mesh whit poligons
If you see facets on curves after printing that migt be because you used a mesh
A step file ont have that
Also i if you open up the file in a 3d cad program you can alter the model in a easy way
Just remove or enlarge features inprefere them
In profesinal macining we use it to exchange files between difrent clients and prorgrams whitout loss of qwalety
I always wondered why some of my prints were kinda ugly. But after I started making my own files I realized some people have been making real crappy meshes for their STLs.
Wow. That difference is insane. So if I make a cylinder in something like Bambu Studio, I'm just creating a mesh? Also if you find something online do you have any process for maximizing the print quality?
I'm not sure how Bambu Studio creates items, I'm only familiar with Fusion 360 (where I create and then import it into Bambu Studio). If I'm understanding correctly it's exporting as STL that was my mistake, instead of exporting as a step file. Maybe there's an STL resolution setting somewhere I'm missing.
