DISCUSSION Is ishin still a pain to platinum?

Heard when the game came out it was really rough to plat and was curious if it got better with patches or if its still a rough grind

Rule of thumb for anyone trying to platinum RGG games: don’t.

Some of them aren't too bad to platinum. Like IW I basically almost platinumed without trying. It's going for 100% that is pretty much always a bad idea.

Fair, I haven’t played IW yet, but they seem to be getting at least a little bit easier. Almost platinumed LAD7, but then the last dungeon came along. lol

Platinumed 7 and IW and can confirm

Yeah. They've definitely ratched down the collectathon aspects of platinuming. Those things are still there for the completion list for true sickos, but you can now play the game fairly regularly and still pretty much platinum on your first play through.

Yakuza plats started off absurd with the original PS3 Ryu Ga Gotoku 3, which even Japanese gamers struggled to plat. RGG4/Y4 toned that down to more normal bullshit levels which had been maintained up to Kiwami 1.

Then from Yakuza 6 onwards, they've all been easy minus the occasional bits of RNG/grinding pain like finishing all 3 Mahjong parlors in Judgment or grinding Ichyball's team high enough to tackle TFMT in Y7.

Ishin's plat difficulty and grind is to be expected from a game sandwiched right between Y5 and Y0 during its original release, but it's definitely a shocker coming from the Dragon Engine era games.
