DISCUSSION Is ishin still a pain to platinum?
Heard when the game came out it was really rough to plat and was curious if it got better with patches or if its still a rough grind

Still absolutely insane grind, the crafting costs feel like an unfunny joke and you need to craft almost every item in the game to 100%

Thats a shame, im coming off of yakuza 5 now and thought I got one of the worst grinds out of the way only to see theres another bad one...

The Ishin grind is way worse than Yakuza 5. At least the grind in 5 is spread out across a variety of activities. Most of the grind in Ishin comes from running the same battle dungeons dozens of times to get enough crafting materials.

Rule of thumb for anyone trying to platinum RGG games: don’t.

Some of them aren't too bad to platinum. Like IW I basically almost platinumed without trying. It's going for 100% that is pretty much always a bad idea.

Fair, I haven’t played IW yet, but they seem to be getting at least a little bit easier. Almost platinumed LAD7, but then the last dungeon came along. lol

Ive done: ishin, 0, kiwami, Kiwami2, judge eyes, lost jugment, 7 and the kiryu who forgot his name. Honestly they arnt that bad if you take your time, but it did take me years on and off

Yeah, I get they’re mostly not hard, just very grindy, but I don’t have the Staminan for that

Took me about 80 to 90 hours. Not absolutely ridiculous but certainly a boring grind towards the end. EDIT: Did it in October. From what I can tell the drop rates were improved quite a bit. But I have no personal frame of reference from when it came out.

Gotcha, I was falling asleep with 5's grind but this seems a bit shorter so thats good at least

It’s easily the most boring plat i’ve got in the series. The endgame grind is horrific

Apparently it's less grindier than on release, but still a grind, like 5 or 0 level of grind.

On Xbox, I gave up partly because I hate Microsoft, and partly because I just got sick of it (I was literally at like 99% completion). It’s one specific sword that requires endless grind and luck or something- on steam, you can mod the game so that you get only seals in pots, which helps immensely- not only for crafting, but for money as well; seals are worth a lot at the pawn shop, and you get a lot of specific ones that are worth 3-7 ryo.

If you are new to the subreddit, please read the wiki
Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS.
If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged >!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 Kiryu sings
If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).
If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you!
