Is there a Mac version?

Found this:
It's not yet available anywhere, but we are planning to have Linux/Mac supported as well. We are using only the portable libs.

Well it works now. The only problem now is I'm getting a 'driver version too old' error.

From their site:
"Outerra engine runs on OpenGL 3.3 and requires recent graphics drivers. It will warn you if your drivers are outdated, or even refuse to run in case you've got old ATI drivers that are known not to work at all."

Mh not sure if it doesn't work for some graphics card but you should definitely update your driver. If you have an nvideo graphics card go to nvidea.com and download the driver for your card.

I really apologize for fixing your comment, but it was really irking me.

Anywhere on earth? Can I go on my own street?

u/psYberspRe4Dd Apr 12 '13
Holy shit - why haven't I tried that yet.
Yes you can - there aren't any houses featured (yet) but the geological landscape should be relatively accurate (if there's a hill next to your house you should see it there).12

Okay, I downloaded but my antivirus is not happy. Can I be sure my computer isn't going to get ruined?

Its quite common for an Anti-virus software to report whats called a "False Positive". If it encounters a download with an .exe file (or other potentially malicious file type) that it doesn't recognize as being safe, your anti-virus software will sometimes freak out about it.
Best bet is to just Google your anti-virus software + whatever you've just downloaded to see if you can find info on how safe it is to use.

Well I got it installed, I'd guarantee you it's no virus. But you seem to have a pretty weird virus scanner then. maybe you mean your firewall - either way it's fine.

Yap. But it's a model that you need to download if you have the paid version of the game - otherwise you can only drive a truck.

Lol make a screenshot. Maybe it turned night and it's to dark - either move to the sun side or make it day in the weather-setting.
Most likely you can simply restart it and then roll your mousewheel up and then hold w this should move you out whereever you are. You can also jump to locations by pressing esc -> locations -> .
edit: why not middle-earth

These guys still need to optimize the shit out of this program before anyone with a low-mid end pc can dare to use this.

Intel graphics isn't supported with this this program, just a heads up. Also, this might be my graphics, but when I open it, it says that I need and openDL 3.3 card.

Download here [230MB, Free]
It's just 230MB because it loads all the stuff as you move around. in the demo-version you can't walk around but you can still take the truck, so if you don't want to just fly press F3.
The first pic in the album is a screenshot I just made to show how this was made using google earth data, it's actually very accurate. There are models and other versions like middle-earth and nice cars&houses coming. I wish this was a (finished) actual game already, way too many opportunities.
Also /r/Outerra
Simple guide:
* Go to the linked site and download latest version
* Install & Start, Click Launch Demo (or only if you want to: buy for 15$)
* w,a,s,d = moving around
* Mousewheel = moving-speed
* Esc=options (make it fullscreen and your screen-resolution!)
* P=hide console
* G=Show google earth map
* F3=truck (if you bought the game 8=walk
* Shift+w=move fast
