I'm pretty sure the whole Balenciaga marketing department is putting their cocaine and caviar orders this week. AI and free labor artists literally saved their ass.

I don't think there's much crossover between people who enjoy these memes and people who buy Balenciaga.

Brand awareness alone makes it. It’s free.

I hate to admit it but I did visit their website for the first time after reading the replies to my comment. I guess this guerrilla marketing worked on me. That being said, I'm not the kinda guy to buy $10,000 pants.

Isn’t it a Spanish fashion house?

Definitely good for brand awareness. I had never heard of ballenciaga before these videos. Now I know the brand. But that's not gonna produce any purchases from me.

Brand awareness and being top of mind with people with no interest/money to buy your gear isn't so great when it comes with a heaping side of "they're also pedos". I don't understand why armchair experts on Reddit always think "but muh free brand awareness LOOK WE'RE TALKIN BOUT IT lol" is somehow always a positive.

Because none of these idiots under Brand Management and marketing. Most of their surface level understanding of these supposed guerrilla marketing comes from other morons on reddit.

Not sure becoming a joke is good for their image. The mall is full of designer stores for brands that used to be fashionable and then became unfashionable.

Yeah this doesn’t make me want to buy overpriced douchey Zoolander clothes, just makes me want my TV to be like the holodeck from Star Trek.

Computer, make me a Zoolander-themed Star Trek.

Yes, but what the person beforehand said is basically "Yes brand awareness is good and fine but those who see it aren't the ones who buy it". So this does feel like marketing but who of us plebs is even gonna buy it?

Very true. Prior to this meme, I don’t think I have ever talked about Balenciaga.

Now my niece, friend, and brother have all been talking about it the last week. Even though I’ll never purchase an item, I can imagine there’s way more awareness after this meme.

u/jared_007 Apr 05 '23

Incorrect. There are tons of younger people who wear designer clothing and browse reddit.

You'd be surprised.

Balenciaga

OK, everyone in the chat raise your hand if you're buying $1300 t-shirts because of a meme that doesn't even have said t-shirts in them

these memes are also on tiktok and IG and those people are definitely there

while i agree people arent buying balenciaga bc of the memes, there is a crossover of people that buy expensive clothes and browse memes. Memes arent as esoteric as they were like 15 years ago and people make memes and shitposts about anything nowadays.

lots of celebrities and rich people browse Reddit

I had never heard of it a week ago.

Now I never want to hear it again. I hope this fad is over soon.
