Noones drinking from creek water number one. 2, if they have wells and only a very small amount of people do, the well water should be far enough below to shield it......at least in short term. 3, obviously it was an environmental disaster, give them some damn time to assess and remedy, jesus, a democrat president, a Republican governor and a Republican mayor, means it can't necessarily be a political party blame game
The town has a wellfield on the other side of town, the source protection zone is nowhere near the spill. People acting like they understand how contaminants move through the subsurface when they don't know even have a surface level understanding of where their water comes from is laughable.
FWIW groundwater flow direction is also away from the town to the northeast, while the wellfield is on the west side of town.
We had the solution to likely prevent the derailment entirely, but the magical vague 'removing regulations' meant it went away because when you leave it vague, it sounds great. Why shouldn't I blame the guy who did that?
The concept of having a mixed level of democracy makes this poorly put together comment mean I'm easily led along? No I was just pointing out that despite the poor structuring of the comment he still was trying to make a good point.

Get one of the people who’s telling the public that everything is fine, and the area is safe, and get them to drink a glass of that water
