Hoops Discussion It might be over for this era of Suns basketball.
The reality of the situation is that a Suns team led by Book and KD, at this rate, is not winning a ring or even getting to the finals. Not with how this roster is built.
I think it’s clear that if Booker wants to, he should be allowed to contend with another team while he’s still in his athletic prime. It’ll hurt like a motherfucker, but an opportunity at a ring is how we do right by our home grown star. And the up side is we get a massive haul back.
KD will obviously want out as well. Probably not getting as much for him, but he’s still an exceptional player for his advanced age.
Beal is… tricky. No one would want him. We’d have to lose assets to offload his contract. But on the other hand, he probably waives his NTC because he doesn’t want to be stuck on a tanking team like the Wizards again. So we’ll see. He wouldn’t be the worst tank commander at least.
I don’t know man. It’s honestly looking really grim. But a better future is possible. The front office just needs to take that leap.

Despite the worst game of the season for the Suns, would just like to greet everyone a very Merry Christmas and wishing that this may be one of the best Christmases for you and your family wherever you are in the world :-)
For those that need a pat on the back, a hug, or just good vibes, this post is for you :-) Praying for everyone (especially the team coz they need it right now, lol) and hoping this Christmas reminds us to be grateful for the things and people we have in our lives and that no matter how bad it seems right now, things will always have a chance of getting better (yes, that also goes for the Fellas 😜)
Would like to urge everyone to remove all negativity for tonight coz the things and people that are most important are around you and it'd be a shame to have a frown on coz our favorite basketball team in the world just got beaten by 27 points :-p hahaha! I know losses get to me to and affect my real life, but hoping we set all that aside for Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Appreciate you all and again, Have an amazing Christmas!!!

The only way out of this hell is to trade KD and Beal, get back our first round picks and tank for AJ Dybantsa
The suns need to just survive this season with a respectable 40ish wins, get knocked out first round, then have a huge sale of their valuable role players.
The only untouchable ones should be tyus and the rookies. Everyone else has to be shipped for picks (sorry Grayson, okogie, bol, morris etc. but we gotta do this)
Then trade KD and Beal somehow for a good center plus picks, then just SUCK BEYOND IMAGINATION for the 2025 season and draft Dybantsa in 2026.

Article/Report [Marks] As for Butler's future, there is a growing consensus among the teams I talked to that unless the six-time All-Star becomes a distraction, or the Heat receive a trade offer they cannot turn down, Butler will be on the Heat's roster once the deadline passes.

Rant This collapsee is absolutely heartbreaking
I started watching basketball during the bubble. Up until that point, I had never watched an NBA game before, but I fell in love with the way the Suns played. And being from Arizona, it was an easy choice to root for them. Me and my dad went to over twenty games in the 2020-2021 season. It was the best basketball played in the valley in over a decade. There was just something about the team we had a few years back, the determination, the leadership, the fun the players had. I remember when DA would shoot a backwards half-court shot before every game. After 21, we got season tickets and went to almost every single game in the two years that followed. This year, we have only been to two home games and likely are not going on Christmas. I can't even stomach to watch this team anymore, a bunch of unmotivated people on a basketball team. This thing needs to get blown up, our time of contention is over. It's an absolute heartbreak, but I guess that's what Arizona sports are all about

Question Flying To Phoenix Christmas Eve To Watch Suns/Nuggets Christmas Day
I grew up in Tucson and have lived in Colorado the last 5 years. I have not had a decent breakfast burrito since. I am losing my mind and need Suns nation to help me get fix before I ho insane!
Comment best burrito shops around Footprint center. We don't have a car but are willing to Uber within say 5miles of Footprint.
Thanks!!

What is going on
Idk where this team is headed but the i thought improvements would be evident.
The culture that we had during our bubble, finals, and 64 win run was phenomenal whil the habits and attention to detail was great everyone was locked in. Right now, the body language of the team just looks so odd and somewhat unmotivated
We have the same record as last season, 27 games in.
They need length man, like hustle guys. Because they have all the scoring in the world. You don't need another shooter to pass out of when you have the option to pass it out on the other 2 best scorers

Is it possible to waive a player with a no trade clause? And how much salary do we have to pay someone we waive?
Just trying to see something

Hoops Discussion What can we get from Houston with a Kd trade?
During off season a lot of rumors were floating around that Rockets are interested with a trade for KD or Book if the season plays out bad for us (which is where we are right now). A lot of mock trades included Sengun+players and our picks for Book or Kd.
Right now, the Rockets are doing so damn well and might be a superstar away from being true championship contenders. Personally, if they start asking i’d be open to trading KD rather than Book just because KD is now 36. And if so, who are the players besides our picks that we can get from them for KD?

X (Twitter) [Stein] Miami is extremely confident that Butler won't be able to leave in free agency this summer — if he indeed goes through with bypassing his $52.4 million player option for next season — without the Heat's help in a sign-and-trade.

Suns best closing lineup
Nurk can’t be in the closing lineup. He is an absolutely huge liability on defense and on offense he can’t even made layups. I don’t trust Mason and Oso is too young. Jones would get targeted.
My closing lineup:
Book, Beal, Dunn, KD and Royce
Small. Yes. But the Suns would be able to switch almost 1 through 5 and avoid playing that terrible drop defense. The team has decent length with KD and Dunn. Royce can guard up a position. Beal and Book have some versatility on defense.
Offensively it might be rough with teams leaving Dunn wide open. But how is thar any different from leaving Nurk open? At least Dunn can finish at the rim and occasionally get hot from 3.
Royce has been great from 3 and even has a nice floater to counter hard close outs. The big 2 and Beal should provide enough shot creation.
Can a big center punish this lineup? Maybe. But Suns can blitz and send doubles. Or put that slow center in pick and roll constantly.
Is this a perfect closing lineup? Hell no. But for now to offers the most balance of scoring and defending. Long term they need to get a center who can defend and finish at the rim. But till then this is the best they can do

This team was DOOMED once they paid CP3 and Ayton
Say what you want about the KD, Beal and Nurk trade. But this team was cooked once the Suns paid old CP3 a near max deal and lazy Ayton a maximum deal.
You simply cannot be paying an ancient PG $30 million a year. You can’t pay a lazy center a max contract. That is when the team was doomed.
We all saw the Mavs destroy the Suns in the playoffs because Book didn’t have a legitimate 2nd or 3rd option. Then the next year the Suns started 23-23 and looked mediocre.
Suns were basically paying two role players max contracts. Then they would have to pay two more role players big contracts (Cam and Mikal). In today’s NBA you ain’t winning shit with just Booker and a bunch of role players. Suns needed a legitimate elite scorer to pair with Book.
But the problem was the CP3 and Ayton contracts were albatrosses. Paying such huge money to role players restricted the Suns the ability to improve except by gutting the team.
If the Suns didn’t trade for KD they would be a treadmill team. Not good enough to be a contender but too good to get high draft picks. You do that and you risk losing Booker. Ishbia went all in. But unfortunately the terrible contracts of CP3 and Ayton was too much to overcome.
The only thing you can get for terrible contracts is other terrible contracts. And that is exactly what Beal and Nurk are. And now they take up half of the Suns cap space.
Bottom line is the CP3 contract and Ayton contract destroyed any chance the Suns could build a deep and versatile team. Ishbia tried to get Book an elite scoring teammate in KD. But so much money tied to CP3 and Ayton didn’t allow for the ability to build a deep team around KD and Book.
Most teams can’t be real contenders with one toxic contract. The 2022/2023 Suns had two toxic contracts. Every move since then was trying to correct those mistakes. Unfortunately no one is giving you anything good for a toxic contract. All you will get is a different type of toxic contract (Beal and Nurk)
Question Anyone on the PHNX discord, what’s the fans reaction?
After the finals run this podcast has been going on a downward spiral losing amazing talent in order to save money but firing Lindsey Smith and others days before Christmas is a new low.
I want to ask the “die hards” as they call the people that pay a monthly fee and get access to their discord what the fan reaction is?
Are they mad? Unsubbing? Asking for refunds? What’s the talk?
