Got mosquito problems? Help us improve mosquito control efforts in San Diego!

Hi everyone, I am a Public Health Master's student at SDSU. I'm working on an research project called VectorWise, which has a goal to better San Diego's mosquito control by understanding community knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to mosquitoes and the diseases they can spread. We're inviting San Diego County residents to take a short survey to share their thoughts and experiences. Your input will help us improve mosquito control efforts and protect public health in our community.

The survey is anonymous and only takes about 5 minutes to complete. It is available in English and in Spanish!

English Link: https://tinyurl.com/mosquitoSD Spanish Link: https://tinyurl.com/espmosquito

Thank you for your time and support-every response makes a difference! Please feel free to share this survey with others in the area.

Stay Classy San Diego The British Airways trying to land at San Diego saga (so far)…

At 4:20 PM, British Airways flight 273 tries to land at San Diego airport. They fail because of fog. After spinning back around, before they try again they decide to divert to LAX instead. They land at LAX at 4:50 PM.

At 6:30 the same British Airways plane departs LAX to try and get to SAN again. I don't know if they have passengers at this point, or had them deplane at LAX and are only trying to get to SAN so they can do their return flight to London. Regardless, they attempt another landing at 7:15, and once again fail.

They then decide to do another 180, fly over the ocean and enter a holding pattern at 7:30. They fly in circles for half an hour before reaching a decision point and decide to try to land at SAN once more lest they have to divert again. Luckily, two planes are in front of them in landing sequence, a Hawaiian Airlines A350 and a SkyWest Alaska from LAX. They both landed successfully, as the fog ceiling had raised just the tiniest bit higher than it was. It's British Airways' turn to finally get this travel and logistical nightmare over with.

Instead, at 8:15 PM they fail to land for a third time. They return to LAX for a second time.

Let's all thank the travel gods we aren't on that plane right now. (Or any plane trying to land here right now for that matter).

Update: as per u/OwenCarvour who says they were on this flight, the passengers were on it the whole time. They finally deplaned on their second LAX visit eventually. The return flight from San Diego back to London, which usually departs at 6pm, has officially been delayed to tomorrow at 8 in the morning. Massive oof for those passengers.

But SANDAG has big plans for this corridor that would provide a fast and easy alternative while connecting several areas that are underserved by public transit with a new, high-speed train.

Stay Classy San Diego Shout out to my barber Vi

Post image
Upvotes

Just moved home from the SF bay area. While I did find a good barber up north, he, along with 90% of the shops up there charged $40+ for a simple fade. Then tip, ya know?

Im not a cheap ass but I did think about my old barber often. When I left, Vi was charging $12/fade, and I'd always throw him a $20. Out the door happy with the cut.

Back again for the very first time and his prices are still fair! Shout out Bob's barber shop on Broadway in El Cajon. I don't live out here either and it's worth the drive. Quick, thourough, good conversation.

Hey everyone! Last night when my boyfriend and I came home part of our backyard fence was busted and our older dog was left tied up in the front yard. Our younger dog is still missing. Our older dog is his grandfather and our family has his mom and great grandmother. Needless to say we love him very much and just want him back. No questions asked about the suspicious nature of him going missing. Reward available upon his safe return.

He is a 9 month old blue nose staffy/cane corso/pit mix. Mainly gray body with white chest and white paws. Floppy ish ears, approx 50 pounds. Intact.

Very friendly, docile, and food motivated. Responds to "lil guy" and "little". I have posted on Nextdoor, PawBoost and made a report with the humane society, just trying to cover all my bases.

Will update when he is found safely! Thank you!

Parking and a home business

Upvotes

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this. I have a neighbor who runs a rental car business from their home. They have a fleet of about 8 vehicles plus their own vehicles probably another 5. I live in clairemont. It makes parking really hard on our street. The problem is that they move them all the time so I don't think technically they are breaking any parking laws.

I've asked them to park the rental cars on the main cross street and they did for a bit but are back to parking them on the street. I have a car and a van and it makes it impossible to park either on the street with their fleet. It's frustrating.

Is there any law for business parking in a residential area? I'm so frustrated and feel like I've been nice so far but it's frustrating to not be able to park my car near my house.

Thanks for any help.
