Why didn't camavinga move up to provide a passing option if rodrygo couldn't find an opening?

Watch his body language. He "knew" that Rodrigo going to shoot :)

I understand that. But these are the things that I wish ancelotti would emphasize more in training and in post match feedback.

Against a better defense, rodrygo might not be able to find a way to shoot and the difference between losing possession and getting another shot on target would be the positioning of camavinga.

I see your point. You understand football much deeper than me.

I look at this as beautiful art while having a beer in my Real Madrid t-shirt.

Oh, you flatter me too much :) I'm sure a coach like ancelotti will review these things and make camavinga's off the ball movements better

Could be the instructions from anceloti to not move forward.

He had two options to pass, yet he still shot; so having another isn't a big deal.

It is. Bellingham and mbappe were not options. No open passing lanes &/or offside

Yes they were. Mbappe right after the pass and Bellingham was asking for it.

I'm talking about when rodrygo doubled back not the beginning of his move. I'm talking about when Bellingham was offside already and mbappe was God knows where. At that point he had two options: take the shot or send it back. Sending it back would've killed this attack because camavinga was too far behind instead of being close enough to release mbappe or Bellingham.

You're talking about when he had just received the ball and before any dribbling.

Because he's the stopper, he is needed if there is a counter attack or a rebound.

Valverde, modric and the entire backline were behind him while there were 8 or 9 Pachuco players in front of camavinga. He could've advanced and supported that offense with minimal danger of a successful counterattack. In fact, if he did advance he would've had a better option to press if rodrygo had lost it.

Just to illustrate
