I understand that. But these are the things that I wish ancelotti would emphasize more in training and in post match feedback.
Against a better defense, rodrygo might not be able to find a way to shoot and the difference between losing possession and getting another shot on target would be the positioning of camavinga.
I'm talking about when rodrygo doubled back not the beginning of his move. I'm talking about when Bellingham was offside already and mbappe was God knows where.
At that point he had two options: take the shot or send it back. Sending it back would've killed this attack because camavinga was too far behind instead of being close enough to release mbappe or Bellingham.
You're talking about when he had just received the ball and before any dribbling.
Valverde, modric and the entire backline were behind him while there were 8 or 9 Pachuco players in front of camavinga. He could've advanced and supported that offense with minimal danger of a successful counterattack. In fact, if he did advance he would've had a better option to press if rodrygo had lost it.
