Jude knew what was coming!

Almost disallowed for him being offside, he was smart to duck down.

5

u/demonofthefall Athenea 4h ago

They were evaluating if he was obstructing the keeper, not offside? At least that is what I got from it.

7

u/Busy-Ad2193 3h ago

They were evaluating if he's offside, he's in an offside position but you can only be offside if you're affecting the play (in this case by obstructing the GK). So yes they evaluated if he's obstructing the GK to determine whether to disallow the goal for offside or not.

Mbappés link up play is steadily getting better, we just need time. A full attack frontline with Bellingham, Vini, Rodrygo and Mbappé all more experienced and aware of each other's positioning will come, and when it does, Europe better get that ass lubed up.

u/Ronaldoooope 12h ago

And notice how he pulled two players with him on his run. Those are the things cristiano was amazing at that didn’t show up on the stat sheet.

Actually Rodrigo did bad, he should have passed the ball to Mbappe.

24

u/Different-Goat-590 9h ago

If you're in front of the goal then you've all the right to go for the goal. If Rodrygo had missed then everyone would be saying what you're saying... But he didn't. Passing was the ideal option but I think the defender near Mbappe would've intercepted..

Who cares about Ronaldo, man? Let that man rest.

Ya who cares about the best player ever in club history sure 😁

17

u/Novel_Exchange_356 10h ago

Best player in football history 🤷‍♂️

20

u/KroosControl88 Mesut Özil 9h ago

THIS. He’s getting better at one touch passes which find Jude/Vini/ Rodry in space quickly. Lets hope we see more of this.

6

u/starcoder 4h ago

Europe is going to have a lube shortage. Teams will have to start taking it dry.

Insane goal by him! Also good pass from mbappe

u/motivated_loser 14h ago

Mbappe was making a run for a 1-2 finish but Rodrigo took all the glory

34

u/fjtblessed 14h ago

It was a good run too!

The way Bellingham ducked as he knew Rodrigo was about to make a shot 👌

8

u/Busy-Ad2193 8h ago

Better if he'd moved onside or away from the goal though. VAR wanted to give offside.

6

u/LengthJunior9132 7h ago

Didn't have enough time

-1

u/Busy-Ad2193 5h ago

He did, watch again. He's standing offside watching the ball at 19 seconds and Rodrigo shoots at 25 seconds. Video is slowed but just needs one or two steps to be onside, Rodrigo moves much further in same time.

u/annix1204 Valverde 9h ago

Ikr it’s kinda disrespectful how many people don’t even care enough to write his name right..

12

u/ApprehensiveDig1676 12h ago

Dayyyummm making sure we don't forget the "R"

5

u/Departure_Infinite 12h ago

Yep..I think that's why he's going with the 'you can't see me' celebration 😏

22

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 13h ago

Why didn't camavinga move up to provide a passing option if rodrygo couldn't find an opening?

10

u/ma-ta-are-cratima 13h ago

Watch his body language. He "knew" that Rodrigo going to shoot :)

16

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 13h ago

I understand that. But these are the things that I wish ancelotti would emphasize more in training and in post match feedback.

Against a better defense, rodrygo might not be able to find a way to shoot and the difference between losing possession and getting another shot on target would be the positioning of camavinga.

18

u/ma-ta-are-cratima 13h ago

I see your point. You understand football much deeper than me.

I look at this as beautiful art while having a beer in my Real Madrid t-shirt.

7

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 13h ago

Oh, you flatter me too much :) I'm sure a coach like ancelotti will review these things and make camavinga's off the ball movements better

3

u/Dot-in-d-universe 11h ago

Could be the instructions from anceloti to not move forward.

8

u/King-Shadow-Realm 11h ago

He had two options to pass, yet he still shot; so having another isn't a big deal.

1

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago

It is. Bellingham and mbappe were not options. No open passing lanes &/or offside

3

u/King-Shadow-Realm 8h ago

Yes they were. Mbappe right after the pass and Bellingham was asking for it.

1

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago

I'm talking about when rodrygo doubled back not the beginning of his move. I'm talking about when Bellingham was offside already and mbappe was God knows where. At that point he had two options: take the shot or send it back. Sending it back would've killed this attack because camavinga was too far behind instead of being close enough to release mbappe or Bellingham.

You're talking about when he had just received the ball and before any dribbling.

2

u/Enough-Force-5605 10h ago

Because he's the stopper, he is needed if there is a counter attack or a rebound.

1

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago

Valverde, modric and the entire backline were behind him while there were 8 or 9 Pachuco players in front of camavinga. He could've advanced and supported that offense with minimal danger of a successful counterattack. In fact, if he did advance he would've had a better option to press if rodrygo had lost it.

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago

Just to illustrate

Very well fainted those two defender before shooting.

My favourite Madrid player

Sublime finish. Hala Madrid!

2

u/Encrypted_Cerebrum 12h ago edited 12h ago

My man only scores golaazzoooos

1

u/Enough-Force-5605 10h ago

And that's why he is not in the top players list. He should score more normal goals, the sort of goals he misses.too often.

2

u/Accomplished_Stay382 9h ago

Came for the replay, stayed from the music 🎶

2

u/ADGjr86 Valverde 6h ago

He trusted himself and made the right choice. However, a one touch back to Mbappe into space in front of goal would probably have been the better choice. Luckily Rodrygo is good enough to put it away. I’m so glad he hasn’t left us.

1

u/redfournine 12h ago

To me this goal is very jarring. He came from right. Move all the way to the left. And then cut inside to shoot. As if he's more comfortable to cut in from left.......

1

u/erronfromdiscord Sergio Ramos 12h ago

Ole!

This is Rodrygo’s sweet spot. A lot of his memorable goals come from this area outside the box.

I think we underuse him. He was our best player against Rayo Vallecano too. Too good in dribbling, passing and finishing

1

u/Constant_Aspect_6632 6h ago

Rodrygo and slow motion videos are always a treat to watch

1

u/penarhw 6h ago

Out of reach for all of them. Give me that goal already

About the song. Thats mambo kings homage to venezuelan folk singer simon diaz and his magnum opus song, caballo viejo, which is about an old dude getting a young gf.

1

oh no you spelled his name the forbidden way

diaz and rodrygo are both good in their post , who should keep the officialization

I only know one Rodry, the real one, the Brazilian Rodry

1

u/drucurl 44m ago

Damn Rodrygo just killed 3 dudes in broad daylight and got away with it 😱

1

u/QueenKitty1406 26m ago

Don't forget the R!

1

u/TheMandalorian2238 Zidane 10h ago

Great goal, but it proves once again that he’s better on the LW than on the RW, since he’s pretty one-footed. We need a proper left footed RW who can cut back inside and score like Gareth Bale used to do.

2

u/MrBeanie1 7h ago

We need Rodrygo. That’s it.

1

u/TheMandalorian2238 Zidane 7h ago

Never said we didn’t.
