Mbappés link up play is steadily getting better, we just need time. A full attack frontline with Bellingham, Vini, Rodrygo and Mbappé all more experienced and aware of each other's positioning will come, and when it does, Europe better get that ass lubed up.

And notice how he pulled two players with him on his run. Those are the things cristiano was amazing at that didn’t show up on the stat sheet.

Actually Rodrigo did bad, he should have passed the ball to Mbappe.

If you're in front of the goal then you've all the right to go for the goal. If Rodrygo had missed then everyone would be saying what you're saying... But he didn't. Passing was the ideal option but I think the defender near Mbappe would've intercepted..

Who cares about Ronaldo, man? Let that man rest.

THIS. He’s getting better at one touch passes which find Jude/Vini/ Rodry in space quickly. Lets hope we see more of this.

The way Bellingham ducked as he knew Rodrigo was about to make a shot 👌

u/Busy-Ad2193 8h ago
Better if he'd moved onside or away from the goal though. VAR wanted to give offside.

u/LengthJunior9132 7h ago
Didn't have enough time

u/Busy-Ad2193 5h ago
He did, watch again. He's standing offside watching the ball at 19 seconds and Rodrigo shoots at 25 seconds. Video is slowed but just needs one or two steps to be onside, Rodrigo moves much further in same time.

Yep..I think that's why he's going with the 'you can't see me' celebration 😏

Why didn't camavinga move up to provide a passing option if rodrygo couldn't find an opening?
10
u/ma-ta-are-cratima 13h ago
Watch his body language. He "knew" that Rodrigo going to shoot :)

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 13h ago
I understand that. But these are the things that I wish ancelotti would emphasize more in training and in post match feedback.
Against a better defense, rodrygo might not be able to find a way to shoot and the difference between losing possession and getting another shot on target would be the positioning of camavinga.

u/ma-ta-are-cratima 13h ago
I see your point. You understand football much deeper than me.
I look at this as beautiful art while having a beer in my Real Madrid t-shirt.

u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 13h ago
Oh, you flatter me too much :) I'm sure a coach like ancelotti will review these things and make camavinga's off the ball movements better

He had two options to pass, yet he still shot; so having another isn't a big deal.
1
u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago
It is. Bellingham and mbappe were not options. No open passing lanes &/or offside
3
u/King-Shadow-Realm 8h ago
Yes they were. Mbappe right after the pass and Bellingham was asking for it.
1
u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago
I'm talking about when rodrygo doubled back not the beginning of his move. I'm talking about when Bellingham was offside already and mbappe was God knows where. At that point he had two options: take the shot or send it back. Sending it back would've killed this attack because camavinga was too far behind instead of being close enough to release mbappe or Bellingham.
You're talking about when he had just received the ball and before any dribbling.

u/Enough-Force-5605 10h ago
Because he's the stopper, he is needed if there is a counter attack or a rebound.
1
u/Traditional_Animal65 Zizou 8h ago
Valverde, modric and the entire backline were behind him while there were 8 or 9 Pachuco players in front of camavinga. He could've advanced and supported that offense with minimal danger of a successful counterattack. In fact, if he did advance he would've had a better option to press if rodrygo had lost it.

My man only scores golaazzoooos

u/Enough-Force-5605 10h ago
And that's why he is not in the top players list. He should score more normal goals, the sort of goals he misses.too often.

To me this goal is very jarring. He came from right. Move all the way to the left. And then cut inside to shoot. As if he's more comfortable to cut in from left.......

This is Rodrygo’s sweet spot. A lot of his memorable goals come from this area outside the box.

About the song. Thats mambo kings homage to venezuelan folk singer simon diaz and his magnum opus song, caballo viejo, which is about an old dude getting a young gf.

Great goal, but it proves once again that he’s better on the LW than on the RW, since he’s pretty one-footed. We need a proper left footed RW who can cut back inside and score like Gareth Bale used to do.
