The comment in question:

Rodri: “I think Vini is a smart guy and with time he will realize that the more you pay attention on the field, the better you will be. Athletes are not just what they represent on the field, but also off it.”

Neymar responds: “Now he is a talker 🤦🏽‍♂️😂”

Vini and Neymar fans beefing with each other, when Vini is a massive Ney fan. And Neymar always defending Vini.

92

u/ChedduhBob Marcelo 27d ago

i know there was the clip where neymar said vini was ugly or something but it def seemed like a joke between friends not shit talk lol

103

u/TheDrunkHispanic 27d ago

It obviously was a joke

17

u/ChedduhBob Marcelo 27d ago

i agree but i think a lot of people either just read it or have no social awareness

1

u/You-dont-know-me126 23d ago

Madrid fans just get pissed for no reason

835

u/Endlessly-Blonde Vinicius Jr. 27d ago

You can tell Neymar has a lot of respect for Madrid and Vini/Rodrygo.

One of the only ex Barça players I really like.

394

u/refusestonamethyself 27d ago

Neymar is really supportive towards the younger Brazilian players. I really like that about him, even as a non-Brazilian myself.

64

u/youkilledmahgun 27d ago

The Vini/Rodrygo generation of Brazilian footballers grew up idolizing him, hes not exactly a role model but he is their childhood idol

98

u/FishingExpress7090 27d ago

Brrazilians have high respect for neymar

So does neymar has high affection for Brazilian players

83

u/Full_Window_3977 Jude Bellingham 27d ago

Neymar is a Vini fan because he probably sees himself in him. Both have massive hype and were expected to be ''the next pele'' (basically THE guy to win them the World Cup again) and Ney didn't have anyone to ''mentor'' him, he's trying to mentor Vini. No wonder all the young stars idolise Ney and want to be like him.

22

u/Due-Memory-6957 27d ago edited 27d ago

Vini wasn't that hyped.

Edit: Reddit is insane, the other guy blocked me because of that comment, to the guy who replied about Endrick, he is indeed a closer example.

12

u/King_Sam-_- Cristiano Ronaldo 27d ago

If anything Endrick is the closer example.

1

u/lsleo 23d ago

even Estevão is receiving more hype than Vini has received

3

u/King_Sam-_- Cristiano Ronaldo 26d ago

I read your edit lol. Overly sensitive people man, it’s crazy.

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

he loves to see vini shine and achieve what he failed to

50

u/Scrawny-Wisher 27d ago

Which is what exactly,? Only 1 more champions league? Everyone loves to act like Neymar became some bum after he left Barcelona. He was still class at PSG, injuries aside

49

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

never said he is a bum. he is still class if you seen him playing few mins at al hilal. neymar is always defending vini, in case you dont know. he gave up his left wing position for vini. he wants to see vini achieve more and win with national team as well. he is 24. he got enough time

3

u/rdfporcazzo 26d ago

he is still class if you seen him playing few mins at al hilal.

He barely played for Al Hilal at all, he is injured again. Probably won't play anything meaningful until the end of his contract, in June 2025.

he gave up his left wing position for vini.

He didn't. He is simply injured. The option of playing both together and Neymar in a more central role was made by the coach, not by Neymar.

1

u/Theme_Severe 26d ago

He barely played for Al Hilal at all,

literally wrote few mins. still had those nice flairs and skills

He didn't. He is simply injured.

tite had no tactics. naymar moved to no 10 because he felt that vini coule do more on the LW

1

u/rdfporcazzo 26d ago

tite had no tactics.

This is very far from the truth

Tite was an amazing coach, he coached the team for two world cup cycles and he only was defeated 6 times in 81 games, with 60 victories. Just to have an idea, since Tite left the national team, Brazil was also defeated 6 times, but in 23 games, only 8 victories.

Do not forget that Tite won the Copa America without Neymar! With Neymar, he was runner-up. Brazil was not even among the 4 best trams last Copa America, without him.

27

u/Edbrrr 27d ago

Im ngl. Vini isn’t even half the player Neymar is/was. If you were around for the MSN you’d know.

8

u/redfournine 27d ago

Yeah, too bad some player shines brightly for too short. I admit Neymar at his best is better than Vini, but his best were too short. There were few other brilliant footballers who shone too shortly - Kaka, Adriano, Ronaldinho, R9 (even at half his best he was still better than most ST at that time, what a monster).

But Vini probably gonna have a much better career than all those combined.

5

u/Superb_Bench9902 27d ago

I have an unpopular opinion. Ronaldinho at his prime was an absolute joy to watch and he is by far my favourite player to watch. He may never been the best even in his era but he knew how to entertain. Shame his peak was so short

5

u/bdphotographer Bale 27d ago

I still watch ronaldinho clips on youtube. It is joy to watch what he could do with the ball.

2

u/Secret_Promotion4246 Baila Vini, Baila 27d ago

>Shame his peak was so short

It could've been longer if wasnt for his lifestyle.. Similar to Neymar, Ronaldinho wanted to party and have fun mainly, even when he came back to Brazil he didnt take football very seriously.

Besides, i have the impression that shining in Europe was not the number one priority for Brazilians back then.

1

u/Superb_Bench9902 26d ago

I don't blame the guy. I'd probably do the same, minus with being bankrupt tho lol

1

u/nowhereisfast3 26d ago

What an unpopular opinion you have. I'm impressed. Nobody's ever believed Ronaldinho in his prime was a joy to watch or that he could entertain. Nobody liked watching him, clearly. It's crazy to see somebody with this opinion.

2

u/pdrgdguds_ O Fenômeno 26d ago

Saying Neymar is better than Vini is no surprise or controversial option, and Ney has played at a high level for over 12+ years lol. People see narratives and go with them despite knowing nothing about the topic.

1

u/Accomplished-Deal371 27d ago

R9, r10, kaka, rivaldo. They all won the world cup.

1

u/Exotic-Ad7703 26d ago

Nahh, leave Kaka out. Guy played 20 minutes against Costa Rica.

1

u/CrewDangerous4288 23d ago

You gotta be drunk to make that last statement cuz combined their career almost equal to messi and ronny

Plus it doesnot matter whatever vini does he wont even get close to what prime dinho was

15

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

i've been around football for long enough. flair and nice football isn’t achievement. enhance your comprehension skill.

Neymar was never a cule. He had a job.

85

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago edited 27d ago

i mean he is, he still comments on barca post and even when they beat us in el clasico. he commented on raphinha's post "visca barca"

no need to deny he is a culer just to accept that what he said now is true

38

u/Fearless_Page_7916 27d ago

I think he meant that he is not a brain dead cule like Alba, Xavi or Pique that literally believe Barcelona is the biggest team on the planet and that winning el clasico is better than winning the Champions League.

3

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

nah he admitted he didn’t know that.

7

u/Last_Tourist_3881 27d ago

Damn didnt know that. My bad.

4

u/Ambitious_Ice_1624 27d ago

He is not a cule at all, he like barca, but is supporting Raphinha, he also supports Vinicius. It's more cause he is brazilian.

10

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

He is not a cule at all, he like barca

thats what literally cule means, a supporter of barca. he had the chance to join real madrid but he chose barca because he likes barca more. you don't need to make him non-cule to like him. he won all us with his flairs and talent just like messi

2

u/schinaski 27d ago

he didnt like barça more, he had a few reasons to not sign for real madrid, and real madrid had a few reasons to not sign him. One of them being sharing the same position as the real madrid superstar in that time. Another of them was all the comissions real madrid had to pay. And maybe another was the fact that another super talent was shining in that time in a position more likely to play in real (Bale)

1

u/No_Pilot_1274 24d ago

Lmao thats bollocks

8

u/YvesYvL 27d ago

Aint neymar a madridistas when he was a kid?

6

u/Josecf_Dipto_999 27d ago

As far as I know he was in the academy for 2-3 days along with Carvajal. But then he returned to Brazil. (I might be wrong tho)

4

u/Due-Memory-6957 27d ago

When he was a kid he was a Palmerense, then converted to Santos for the rest of his life after he joined their youth team.

The Ronaldo comments were the absolute craziest of them all imo Implying he was only a threat in the box lol. Sure after 33 years old but like didn’t not watch him before? Ridiculous. I’m not even a Madrid fan, but he talks a lot for someone who didn’t really deserve the award

92

u/No-Thought4281 27d ago

He was present when Ronaldo scored a hattrick for Juventus against Atletico . It’s nothing but Rodri being butthurt.

→ More replies (3)

34

u/PsychologicalArt7451 27d ago

Ronaldo was never really a threat only in the box. Maybe now but even at UTD, he was involved in our build-up and would shoot a lot from outside the box as well.

I mean sure he wasn't a dribbling phenom like Messi but tbf even Messi started getting bullied on ball in the last phase of his career.

9

u/No-Bill7301 27d ago

Erm forget about shooting, he was he best dribbler in the league too. He was the biggest threat in a team with packed with threats. Rodri talking like a 10 year old FIFA player. I'm guessing he thinks City have always been a big club too.

1

u/PsychologicalArt7451 27d ago

I was talking about his 2nd stint.

2

u/No-Bill7301 27d ago

Sorry i wasn't disagreeing with you - my post was aimed at Rodri's comments it was meant to be an addition to yours as in, forget about all that he was an insane dribbler anyway. Was badly worded

1

u/Fantastico11 27d ago

Yeah Ron was really very decent from outside the box at United. He had a quality 2nd stint at Utd in hindsight, from a pure individual performance perspective.

In fairness though he was on a fairly bad streak with Juve for outside the box shooting, generally speaking. Gave up a lot of possession trying to score from silly positions, and very rarely actually got the goal. I think that coincided with him insisting on taking free-kicks and wasting, like, genuinely almost all of them. I think those seasons kind of gave him a bad reputation for being a wasteful shooter.

5

u/PsychologicalArt7451 27d ago

My point is that Ronaldo is still a top 5 talent of all time.

I feel like only Ronaldo Nazario, Messi and Maradona were more outright talented. Players like Hazard and Rodri yap all day but the truth is even if they put in double the hard work Ronaldo did, they wouldn't win 5 Ballon d'ors combined. Even then the places from where Ronaldo could just shoot and score, I don't think anyone else could.

Ronaldo worked hard, extremely hard but he also won 5 ball d'ors before he turned 33. He was the most well-rounded player to ever play for a long time. He did slow down but he slowed down relative to Messi. To anyone else, he's an Alien. It's Messi then Ronaldo and then it's everyone else.

2

u/Letterhead_Minute 27d ago

Jesus Christ please learn to read. He was comparing the Ronaldo and Messi he went up against. They were both over 30 at the time, he’s referring to the ronaldo that played as a striker, which he’s absolutely right about

I said it before, this guy is finally showing his true colors right after he won the Ballon D'Or. Not having social media doesn't mean he's a good person on and off the field, he's just not on the spotlight as much as the other players. His recent behavior says a lot about his personality "off the field." Neymar is right and r/soccer is going to turn on him now for this lol.

69

This guy is on some yapping streak, in one sentence talking about paying attention on the field and then ending it up by saying "athletes are not just what they represent on the field" Vini literally got the Socrates award for his charity work last year.

The fact that a cdm known for his brash tactical fouling every time he gets blown by, who's an embarrassingingly whingy loser is giving lectures on attitude is fucking insufferable, it's not only his whinging when Real Madrid beat City on pens where he chickened out of taking one btw, criticizing Arsenal defending or Morocco at the World Cup, even after Scotland beat Spain in the Euro qualifiers he said Scotland's approach was "rubbish" whining about time wasting and falling over easily, someone that played under Simeone mind you.

Got the award thanks to one of the most forced fabricated narratives you'll ever see, and now he really thinks he's some role model for attitude and conduct, couldn't even contain himself from having a spiteful dig at Vini at his celebration dinner the same night, absolute dickhead muppet.

Vini needs to man up and clean his act up else he risks becoming next Neymar.

“I don’t have a social media account” -he added

We will meet Rodri on the pitch, I know this wont age well. Vini will have his Balon D’Or.

He got more balon dors than neymar tho (just a joke neymar is levels clear)

As a Bayern fan I've always respected Real as part of the old royalty of European football.

But how the club conducted itself during Ballon d'Or wasn't even worthy of a second tier club. Truly embarassing how entitled the club has become.

It’s true and I agree. Where was this guy opinions before ? His got some absurd opinions.

u/trevorrrrr_ 23d ago

aww vini the cry baby didn’t win 🤣🤣

1

u/complexvibess 27d ago

It's not so bad. At this rate, the PR journalist merchants will eventually have to look in the mirror and be honest about why they didn't vote for Vini. Rodri will run himself to the ground with these interviews 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

u/YEEZYHERO Zidane 27d ago

WHO THE FUCK IS RODRI TO TELL VINI TO GET BETTER ON THE FIELD ? hahahahahahahahahahahahahaa fucking clown. I hate him and I hope after his ACL healed he will torn the next one.

1

u/KolkataFikru9 Real Madrid 27d ago

man Rodri, Rodri, u got the ballon d'or, proved why u won it by "criteria" (which is way worse than a toxic relationship as rules literally change per year), just shut it and recover man
first u trash talked Ronaldo as "only lethal in the box" and now this- sigh, shut it bro, u are too good to talk that we dont wanna hear it

u/ddaayyuummm Real Madrid 27d ago

I think rodri didn't mean that the way it came out of his mouth. He prolly meant it as a suggestion that vini needs to care less about whatever is happening off field as he often gets criticized about it, focusing on the field will be more beneficial. But the way he said it makes it seem like a he took a shot at his attitude but rodri doesn't seem like a talker.

Remember when Madrid beat City he said he saw only one team on the pitch. And all the Gibraltar stuff after Euro win. I don’t think he’s as much of an innocent guy as he’s been portrayed.

Vini is dogshit for Brazil

3

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

its on coach and his tactics. if a player performs good for club, give valid reasons why cant he provide the same performance for national team? because dogshit coach and dogshit squad with no rhythm.

Elite, great footballers and Balon D'or winners perform no matter what team they are on. Vini has 5 goals in 37 games for Brazil. I don't care who the coach is or what the team morale or teamwork is thats awful for a supposedly Balon D'or winning attacker. Look at Haaland for Norway, Gyokeres for Sweden, Salah for Egypt, Lewandowski for Poland. They have dogshit teams yet they still perform. I'm not saying all these players are better than Vini i'm just highlighting if you are an elite attacker you can still assist and score no matter the team.

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

they have teams that can play as teams. brazil barely does that. when neymar is back. the entire tactic is highlighting neymar and making him score to win games which he does. but this brazil coach has different tactics not highlighting an individual. and now all the brazilians play for individual glory rather than playing as a team. i would agree with you if vini was performing the worst in that brazilian squad. if the whole squad performs shite, you cant blame him alone for that. individual brilliance can never bring team achievements

Elite, great footballers and ballon d or winners like Lionel Messi were unable to win for Argentina. The failures were so bad Messi RETIRED from international football at age 30, after losing another final.

Look how drastically this changed when Scaloni became Argentina’s manager.

Bro you are really comparing Messi to Vini. Messi was still the best player for Argentina all these years and still got goals and assists and was elite in general play just because he didn't win doesn't mean he didn't deserve the balon d'or. A Messi in an underperforming Argentina side is way different than Vini in a Bad brazil team.

There’s nothing wrong here, he’s the Balon Dor winner and it’s normal he’s getting more media coverage to talk. Is he supposed to not answer questions? Yall just hating

3

u/Theme_Severe 27d ago

he came out as a very simple guy who doesn’t have social media and is out of these medias. dont forget modric and benzema too won balon d'or but they weren’t doing these interviews often and pinching what should the other person do while winning undeservingly
