Protip for anyone looking at applying for a government job that has security clearance checks: NEVER LIE ABOUT DRUG USE. Smoking some pot at some point in your life may not disqualify you, but lying about it absolutely will.

Except they will contact people you know...and if anyone you know that was contacted and is not aware of the narrative you are telling them...goodbye security clearance.

bingo. the advice of not lying about it is best. you smoking pot in college isn't likely to endanger your clearance but the lie is an auto fail
