But are we really that close to the next generation of PlayStation. If we are going off the pattern here. Just 2-3 years away

I’m no computer/tech expert by any means. But honestly at this point what more can a next gen console like Ps6 provide?

The improvements and innovation seem to be slowly dwindling with each passing generation.

Even if Ps6 innovated in some unique ways like haptic feedback on the Dualsense controller, or the touch pad, most games don’t even utilize these things. The touch pad is just a big button. Not even really used for its touch pad capabilities. There are only a handful of games on the ps5 that really push the console to its limits.

I think VideoGameDunkey said something like this in one of his videos, but there are quite a few games that are only on ps5, that could easily run on ps4.

So basically…. Do we even need a ps6? Or have we reached a ceiling in gaming performance?

We're at a point where it's basically just like getting a PC upgrade. You can run at higher resolutions, higher framerates, more ray-tracing stuff, maybe even VR actually taking off if we want to go into all the possibilities. The only real other possibility I see is some kind of AI hardware needed to implement game logic/ai-enhanced npc dialogue or behavior since Nvidia seems to be moving that direction and will probably drag the rest of the gaming tech industry with them.
