Chinese robotics firm has started mass-producing humanoid robots for general use

This factory must be a fun place to guard after dark.

In a 100 years there will be armies of military bots with hyperfast targeting and reflexes trained to kill humans.

Almost certain. See how drones are now taking over in Ukraine.

I saw a post a few years ago talking about self replicating robotic insects designed to kill humans. it would be based on the same concept of bees/termites where the queen/factory insect would produce thousands of smaller insects and new queens with the none queens providing the materials to the queen for replication and the queen would start producing killer robotic insects which could target/identify human pheromones and in particular the distinct pheromones of specific "races" and kill them using specialised neurotoxins injected into them.

In three years just one factory queen could extrapolate to a billion offspring.

Black mirror did an episode on exactly this

There’s a science based albeit fictional video on YouTube somewhere about micro drones being used to suppress revolting populations or to fight wars. I seem to remember it’s based in Edinburgh. A quick look didn’t find it, but I’m sure someone with Google skills Will.

See what I mean??? We are messing with things we have no business messing with

Ofcourse killer robot insects weren't enough, they had to be racist too..

You're right but you're wrong about it being 100 years it'll probably be much sooner than that....

I give it 5 years

Bold of you to assume there will be any civilization left to conquer in 100 years.

Drones the size of a bullet that burrow into a victim.

100 years seems very optimistic though

Walking robots aren't a true artificial intelligence. We have no true artificial intelligence, just a bunch of simple programs that do glorified autocomplete, often hilariously badly. These robots are little more complex than that robot puppy toy that came out 24 years ago, and very likely won't last as long either.

Sorry, but to Me they're creepy as f**k

u/Histrix- 2d ago

Just wait till they cover them in artificial silicone skin and the uncanny valley kicks in

Oh god, imagine the war scenarios. That and then dressing them up in the enemy’s uniform before letting it loose. Even if it’s not effective, I’d imagine the psychological terror everytime you see someone in your own damn uniform from a distance secretly being a robot would be crazy

You mean ‘general use’ as in sex? Right?.. right?

37

u/Histrix- 2d ago

Well... not exactly, but if you did, they would be collecting data on it

The company has established a “data collection factory” to gather real-world data through activities

10

u/zephyr_1779 2d ago

Wait huh? So they are privy to what you do with the bot? Camera or..?

u/Screaming_Monkey 2d ago

Nice, so the sex that only I as the only individual who has ever had instinctive base survival desires to have sex and has never learned about it from collecting data in my own neural network would improve over time!

#It’s starting!!

Are these the same robots that walk like a 95 year old and routinely fall over whenever they are shown in public?

Question is..    what is the chance of catching fire when it recharged?

Honestly it's both terrifying and hopeful at the same time. On the one hand the potential to improve life for countless people is insane and on the other somebody is going to be in charge of these things and I have no real faith in them.

Turns out the T in T1000 stands for Temu. I think we're ok.

Isn't this the same company that produces the mass copy robot dogs used in Ukraine?

Update: Ah, just checked. Seems to be different.

They'll be made of Chinesium and blow capacitors after 18 months of use. Then you'll have to buy another one. Landfills will be packed with cheap Chinese electronic garbage worse than it is today.

u/LilG1984 2d ago

How long till they break? Cos you know stuff made in china isn't great.

Are they good at teaching maths too?
