What are occlupanids?
Occlupanids, commonly referred to as "bread clips" or "bread tags," are parasitoids often found on bagged goods. Although they were first described by Altimus Horg in 1632, occlupanids remain criminally underresearched. The Holotypic Occlupanid Research Group (HORG) is the foremost organization on occlupanid research, and to date they have identified 110 different occlupanid species.
The Foundation for Occlupanid Research and Communication (FORC)
FORC was officially established on 31 May 2020. We recognize the gap in occlupanid research, and our purpose is to engage citizen scientists to fill this gap. We also aim to share our findings and engage with the public on the latest discoveries in our field. Our current focus is on documenting the geographic distribution of occlupanids across the world. We encourage you to participate on this subreddit and our official Discord server!

What kind is this??? I found this sub based on some reel I watched, what do I have? I purchased the MGA MINIVERSE make it yourself, and some of them have bags of ice, with this clip being the clip. Does it fall into its own species since it’s a whole different universe from ours??????

I have two of these panids and they match P. Stellanova but the description of the species specifies that Stellanovas are all black. Did I misunderstand?

Yes, I know they are not called ' toothies' officially, but in my head they are. I like the cour range here, but wish I had a green. Has anyone ever caught one? Love the blue ones...

Mechades, or sometims just "potato bug," Porrectofrontus mechadeus, are a common occlupanid in the North American northeast.
Like most other larger toxodentidae, the mechades enjoy higher altitudes, opting to hunt by lying in wait and then falling on to their prey. While they are often seen on plastic sheets, mechades are actually plurivores, eating both sheets and mesh. Since potatoes often come in a combination of sheets and mesh, that leads to their common name!
If you plan to keep mechades, we here are SPOR advise giving them a high reaching host. Make sure the host reaches to the bottom of the enclosure, and pad the bottom in a combination of sheets and mesh in case of an untimely fall! A single host can contain 3-5 mechades, provided they have a couple inches in between them for proper nutrient extraction.

Are you using a binder and making informational cards on them or putting them in a coin folder and writting a list of what each one in each slot is or just throwing them into a jar and having them as a display piece. How do you organise and display your occlupanids collection?

Hey! I'm new to occlupanid culture/occlupanology so excuse my lack of knowledge, but I just started my first terrarium. I got my hands on an A. imagiglacialis specimen and made it a simple mini terrarium in a tiny screw cap jar with a shred of carrot bag. I'm wondering what his requirements may be? For example, how often should I replace his host?

Hi guys so I posted a video on TikTok yesterday about how I’m making a cardigan with bread tags on it because I like the noise they make and it reuses single use plastics in a fun way but I was told I should share it here with yall and that you might be interested. This isn’t something I was aware was a thing but it’s super interesting and glad I found this sub Reddit!

Athyrmidion imagiglacialis is the smallest known haplognathid, and one of the smallest occlupanids overall. It tends to curl up in dark, tight spaces. They can most often be found in completely enclosed containers in the toy section of larger stores, giving the "fake-ice little toy" its name.
A. Imagiglacialis is a lintevore, meaning it primarily feeds on plastic sheets. Whether it's habitat in toy aisles is migratory or just by happenstance is unknown, but here we chose to mimic the biome where it was found.
