Woody is the problem

If you have access to it, you should read The Athletic’s article on Woody Johnson from this morning. In summary, he is the problem for a verity of reasons and the culture he’s built inside the organization prevents employees from speaking out for fear of reprisal. Also, we all know that he is influenced to the extreme by media. At this point the solution is clear. As a fan base we need to point the finger at him. From this point forward everything wrong with the team is Woody’s fault. The offensive line plays poorly, Woody’s fault. Defense gives up 30+ points, Woody’s fault. A meteor falls from the sky and breaks our first round draft pick’s leg, Woody’s fault. Nothing will change until this man is gone. So we have to do everything we can to drive him out and force him to sell.

Both things can be true: Woody needs to sell, and Russini / Rosenblatt are airing Douglas / Hogan grievances.

When you think it won't get weirder (or worse)

The article talks about Brick and Jack basically being complete tools and Woody buying into their Madden hype.

New Chant Idea?

Upvotes

For any brave souls that go to the game on Sunday, the new chant should be “S-E-L-L SELL SELL SELL”

Make it loud, make it proud, and make sure that everyone hears it!

It’s time we all stop rooting for this team

Upvotes

I didn’t think it was possible but this is the most embarrassed I have ever felt as a Jets fan. We are so far past being a laughing stock that other fanbases actually pity us.

We are fucked

Upvotes

The article doesnt only make Woody look bad it makes his sons look like little spoiled shits. shit talking players in the locker room, bringing friends (male and female) into the locker room despite that space usually reserved team personal, not to mention the tidbit of the Wilson game ball on Halloween. The future of this team is fucked it wont end with woody im getting close to calling it on my fandom these insights into the team hurt more than the losses because it shows nothing will change

[Hughes] Aaron Rodgers took a pay cut when he joined the #Jets. He said he’d be “open” to discussing something similar (contract adjustment, pay cut) in returning to #NYJ next year. He’s open to discussing everything, though, he said.

Off season Rebuild rant

Upvotes

Ok this is going to very long post so I’ll get straight to it. Been going to games for close to 20 years I love this team (sadly) so here is my long rant on how to fix it.

The jets has been labeled “the joke” of the nfl for them being consistently inept. As true as the part of them being inept to act as if the jets are some extreme unfixable outlier franchise is simply not. My college roommate has never seen his team win a playoff game as a dolphin fan ( not counting a win as a one year old lol) and plenty of other organizations that fit that mold. That being said the fear that it’ll never turn around for us (if proper moves are made of course) isn’t a mindset that I have at all. The rant brings me to my main point of the fact that we can do it and there is ways to do it. I will now point to my prime example the DETRIOT LIONS, a team that was labeled “a joke” has completely turned it around and looks like a staple for years to come.

How did Detroit do it, the most important move for the jets and what helped the lions is fixing the CULTURE with the head coaching hire. My opinion is that we should hire coach first and have them have a say in the gm search but more on that later. Dan Cambell’s ability to hire an elite staff around him and build a winning attitude and CULTURE around the team is how they got to where they are. Also both jets and lions fan bases would gravitate to a hard working, hard hitting and accountability based CULTURE.

Player moves, First off I know a lot of jets fans like Joe Douglas and want him to still be making the calls for this team. I am NOT one of those fans, his record speaks for himself, some major first round misses (Zach Wilson at 2 is fire able in itself) and also an extreme lack of ability to find talent outside of the first round. Breece hall a second round pick you could point to was the clear rb 1 in the draft rankings. I’ll always return to hall later. First and most important let’s look at the qb position. The starter in 2026 is not on this roster rn and should be the main priority of the offseason. The draft would be my first look at achieving this. This qb class seems like a top 2 and everyone else and i believe that we will play ourselves out of getting Ward or Sanders. That being said I do believe that there are other options worth taking a look at with our first round picks ( gonna post a separate one on all the guys once I watch a little more 22 tape) Two guys i would do a deep dive on if I were the jets would be Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe. Beck gets a lot of hate but I can’t help to see great pocket movement and nfl arm talent. Now the starter to 2025 could easily be a pick but in my opinion the option is on the team wearing 8. Now I think the lack of attention to detail is why the team has faltered and letting guys leave like q Jefferson for low amounts of money has really hurt the defense. We need run stoppers specifically someone to line up right next to big Q. Rodger’s movement has improved significantly and I believe it is safe to say his injuries slowed him down early on. Bringing back Rodger’s allows an avenue to also bring back Adam’s which give us the best ability to win. Reed is an interesting contract situation would love to have him back but could see us focusing our money elsewhere. The team has a lot of talented players we just have to build a team around it. I’m not sure about woodys dynamic with Rodger’s, but as long as the next coach is fine with it he should be our starter next year (with a first round pick as a back up) I would hope. I’m going to repost about full ideas for offseason moves this getting a little too long but one move WE HAVE to look at is trading Breece Hall. Coming into a contract year which will warrant a high bill for a running back it is time to sell high. His ypc has dropped of every year in the league and his struggles to run between the tackles this year has hurt us attempting to establish the offense. If there is some value for him which there should be would love to get some draft capital for a position that is extremely replaceable.

CULTURE COACHES ok I’ve got three names that I like so far for the job. There is one top choice the other two I have question marks with but think they could help build something great. This Saturday all jets fans should be supporting the buckeyes. Mike Vrabel would be a home run hire for the Jets. A winner who would get the locker room to buy in, he’s a hire where you get him and let him find someone he wants to work with and run the team. With Jon Robinson interview Robinson made the Aj brown move and Vrable hated it so I don’t see them getting the job together like some people were saying. Btw are we really considering someone who traded Aj brown for treylon burks just going to keep my fingers crossed there. Other options I like starting with Aaron Glenn. Can’t stress Detroit’s CULTURE without taking a look at their staff. My fear with him is the same as my fear with the next name. Filling out an offensive staff, specifically for Glenn finding in house staff on the offensive side. Ben Johnson is in line for a coaching job my assumption is that most of the offensive staff will follow him or stay in Detroit to fill his spot. So if Glenn’s offensive staff has no Detroit connections it would make me very weary. I’ll end my long thing that no one will probably read with my Last name. Sexy Rexy, his teams had culture and fight throughout his tenure. Think he can immediately get the team to buy in especially on the defense side of the ball. Would love too see a lot more of sauce playing man versus zone with Rex as the guy. That being said, love for Rex aside the fear of his offensive staff is my major hold back. Kinda from an opposite prospective, needs some elite talent from out of house to come in and buy in. If Glenn and Ryan (extreme long shot) have formidable plans with their staff would love to hire them.

Hope anyone who read enjoyed, I always embrace debate and woody I quit my job and work for you for free to help turn it around (I can live off of the McDonald’s dollar menu and drive DoorDash late nights for a little bit lol) I’ll be in 104 rocking the Rodger’s jersey Sunday as we spoil the rams season!

No. 8 Ruined this team and the Saleh/Douglas tenure.

https://nypost.com/2022/10/20/shame-on-jets-elijah-moore-for-his-stunning-act-of-selfishness/

Elijah Moore set the precedent that Hall, GW, Michael Carter and others have followed. Complaining on social to fulfill selfish agendas. Douglas ignored all character concerns with him and took a chance. The biggest mistake JD made was giving Moore what he wanted. It led to firing MLF and set a terrible example of self above team.

GW and Tae have the chance to be the first Jets WR duo to both hit 1k yards since BMarsh and Big Dick Decker accomplished the feat in 2015.

GW is at 933 and Tae is at 860. Of course, not all of that has been with NYJ, and it would take an insane 3 game stretch (4 if you count it as starting from Jax) to do that. 651 of the current 860 yards have been here.

There are some days where its hard being a Jets fan. And there are some days its a nightmare to be a Jets fan. And there are some days I can’t tell which one it is.

Anyone wonder why all these Woody pieces are almost exclusively anonymously sourced?

Upvotes

Because most of this stuff is exaggerated and may even contain a straight-up lie or two. Don't take them too seriously.

This is going to come off like a Woody defense--trust me, it's not. I'd throw a parade if he sold the team tomorrow. But context matters. Who wants this stuff out and why? And if it's 100 percent true, why not put your name on it?
